You know, I recently sang this song for a school musical...

And I don't mean to sound narcissistic, but it was a lot better than this. This is just... kinda lame. I don't know if she's trying to sing the right words... or trying to match the original style, but she's not.

Thing is, she not only sounds like she's sick the whole time, but she messes up the lyrics. Granted, she did at least pronounce what she did say correctly. (Je suis is pronounced Je suiz in the show, etc.)

Second, the e and s in "Je suis enchante" has a liaison. The final consonant of a word joins with the first letter of the following word if its a vowel.. -_-

@waxlaxo I'm 15. I sang this song in a school musical. I always heard it pronounced that way in recordings (the character is German, so it might even be mispronounced on purpose.) Again, not doing research has little to do with it, and I will not do extensive research just to express my opinion on a YouTube video, that would be silly.

Besides, that was two months ago, and I forgot what my major problem with this video was anyway. I have other things to do. Good day, sir.

@thegameenforcer It wasn't mispronunciation though. In French, when the end of one word has a silent consonant (Je suis) followed by a vowel sound at the beginning of the next word (enchantée), you pronounce the consonant.

Re: The lyrics being wrong. I think you'll find she includes the addition of "Cologne" before the last Cabaret, as that's where she was performing and it was a way of acknowledging her fans from that city in her concert.

2) I bothered watching because I am a fan of Cabaret, its music, story, and characters. So I was interested to see what she did with the song.

3) I was talking about her performance and what meaning she portrays. (Look at my previous comment for more info).

4) If she wanted to do something German for her fans she would have been better off with a song from "Der Blaue Engel"

Yes, this takes it another step farther, but I don't see this rendition as too removed from the 90's production that played the Donmar in London and then transfered to Broadway.
