  • How many singers can sing 3 octaves? Very few, how many can sing 4 octaves? One in a 10,000,000! Post a video, if you have one, cuz Roy the boy is one of the best! Del Shannon could, We would love to hear another artist that recorded songs with the range he had, most importantly, he had feelings, some call it soul, but you will always know his voice when you hear him. This is a tragic loss in todays music, no true feeling, no signature sound. Nice video, thanks for the memories!

  • that last note that he sings, I swear, its impossible to hit!!

  • Roy's voice is from a different dimension...it must be the sound of an angel singing

  • i love him so much... this is music... I stopped listening to the radio in the 8th grade

  • Tenho apenas 22 anos e escuto sempre, *-*

  • so good.

  • priceless

  • Where they see the passion for music here?

  • get over yourselves losers. Stop comparing this music to a different time. This is just some good shit. Enjoy it. I just rediscovered Roy because I heard a song of his at 5 guys, burgers and fries. Now i realize he was a beast! (even though he hardly moves).

  • This is basically the whitest gig ever.

  • "this guy had gravy on his pants, gravy all over him..so he went to his grave with gravy on his pants gravy on his shirt gravy all over him" Gummo

  • still better music than any of justin beibers stuff

  • 2:58, bottom left, only kid in the room who appreciated such talent.

  • whats up with all this rihanna hype takes away from the video..anyway Roy is timeless and nobody will ever come close to being this cool.

  • This happened to me last friday in a club. Man... it's tough. Five years and still the same.

  • girls loved him, guys wanted to be him. many artists styled themselves after him. His voice is haunting. there will never be another .

  • God look how excited all those people are to hear Roy sing crying! God could they be any more ecstatic to hear one of the best songs of all time?

  • @Vaderduder Sure, it's easy to poke fun at people 47 years after the fact. This concert was broadcast from the village of Laren in The Netherlands in January 1965. Most of the people in the audience had never seen an American artist, let alone be overwhelmed by the Big O. Remember: this was AFTER fans had dived into Amsterdam canals when the Beatles visited in June '64 and AFTER the Kurhaus Scheveningen was demolished when the Stones played there in August '64. Different place, different people.

  • Most Awesome! thank you!

  • I love this song

  • Great song, but I wish I did not have to look at rihanna while I watch Roy, thanks vevo

  • what a magnificent build.

  • sublime rendition of one of his greatest songs.

  • Mulholland Drive?

  • @h0rtensy0 Huh?

  • What a marvelous song, what a marvelous voice ! Love Roy Orbison !!!!

Thank you for sharing. Big Thumbs Up !!!

  • Thumps up if you gonna listen this song forever!

  • His drummer looks like Paul McCartney!!!

  • that audience looks dead... they really didn't come alive till the Beatles hit American soil... I love this song... my favorite Roy Orbison song!! RIP ROY!! Still great!

  • he was suposed to hve written several songs 'through-composition' ... google this to know what it means

  • cool

  • Orbison was ... and still is a genius! R.I.P. Roy

  • doi n-au apreciat.. sunt romani si il apreciaza pe Guta.

  • orbison

  • I would be interested in to know where this was performed. This video looks like it was in Great Britain. So I am not surprised if a lot of these kids did not who Roy was. This may have even been before Dylan made his appearance.

  • @lucripet It was holland it was in here before some country musicians have a guitar with their name on it roy 1:27 has a guitar strap with his name on it

  • @spacepatrolman I appreciate it, thanks! When I was 12 years old a buddy and I used to ride our bicycles twenty miles out to a park. The park had a little building with a juke box and it had the record Blue Bayou in it. I used to play that over and over while we to kids ate our lunch.

  • @nutuvocare your like gene pitney who drove to another state just to listen to a song in a juke box or like bill clinton who walked 5 miles to listen to an elvis record in a juke box

  • @spacepatrolman Maybe Pitney but I not Clinton...

  • @nutuvocare they used to say if your kid is hanging around with billy clinton he wont get into trouble roy orbison said in texas you drive 100 miles just to get a hamburger

  • @spacepatrolman Yay holland!

  • Greatest Ever. Most unique ever. Greatest ever.

  • gummo

  • unfortunately one legend ill never get to see live

  • it was a running joke how much my grandmother loved roy orbson and played his music ALL the time - Now shes gone i almost feel like she comes by just to listen to him with me :) <3

i hope he sings to you all the time in heaven Nan xxxxxxxxx

  • Eff. Ort. Less.

  • Every person there doesn't have a clue as to how lucky they are. Sad. The greatest artist are rarely recognized in there own time.

  • What a great tenor voice! Thank you, Roy Orbison, for recording your voice for us. None of us will ever be the same without you (and I know of one couple who wouldn't have gotten married, without you--true fact) RIP, RO

  • @MicroWorldLover Tenor? He can do it all

  • @85grei I'm in total agreement with you. RO had a vocal range of nearly 4 octaves. Did I look it up? No, I did not. I just heard his voice. That was enough for me, and I'm sad he is gone. Thanks for your comment.

  • This is the concert in Holland (Laren) in 1965. Never heard it called "Monument" Concert before....

  • This song reminds me of Smoke Weed Everyday by Snoop Dogg!

  • roy would NEVER order kelly clarksons album

  • roy would NEVER order kelly clarksons album

  • FUCK YOU, MAGGIE AND AUDRY.

  • @gdrugg2006 um audry hepburn?

  • @whitetiger769

I don't even remember. I think I was talking about some people on one of the commercials they were playing.

  • @gdrugg2006 oh well i love audry so....

  • I am here at least once a week listening to this....

  • Coming from a 13-year-old... Why can't our society be as well-mannered and free of idiocy as it was back then? (Well, I'm sure there were still idiots, but a lot less than there are now, certainly)

  • @TheDoubleEmz They were there, they just didn't have the internet to be as vocal about it. Really, we haven't gotten any dumber, just louder and with a different flavor of idiocy. Wait til high school, and you'll understand when you start learning about changes in culture.

  • josh grobone does it better

  • One person never cryed

  • Gummo?

  • He was an amazing talent. R.I.P. Roy

  • Back then the kids had discipline, dressed appropriately and basically behaved themselves. Remember, this is 1965.

  • @importpappa - Are they behaving themselves or are they dead? This is not an appropriate way to behave in front of the legendary Roy Orbison. They seem bored and disinterested. They don't even seem to know the words of the song.

    Very disrepectful!

  • @importpappa So you are saying the 60s was a very reserved time? Have you ever heard of the counter culture. Now listen, never were kid appropriate, kids will always be the same, kids from one decade were not better than another. You really frustrated me with that comment sir.

  • @TheNineinchsnails Compared to today, yes. You sound angry because perhaps you were involved in the counter culture? Protesting Viet Nam, showing up at airports yelling at the returning GIs. I don't understand your third sentence starting with Now Listen...???

I'm not saying kids from one decade are/were better than another. Type in "fights" on YouTube and you will after school fights more so than professional type fighting...that is a sign of the times. imo

  • @importpappa More like "back then the kids weren't dumb and dead". When did we stop caring about great voices?

  • wtf do you want them to do dance?? they are seduced by his voice, and song...

  • @ibanezgeorge lol

  • he is so amazing he has amazing range and voice R.I.P

  • holy shit all these long ass comments WHOOOOOOOO this song rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • man of the times and he has a place in my memory Good luck Roy,

Hey did it hurt singing as you did/ MAXTHEVID

  • 1 person forgot their sunglasses for the concert.

  • What are they supposed to do? Dance? This is one of the most captivating and depressing songs of all-time. That they do nothing but watch in silent awe is a pretty appropriate response.

  • What a fantastic voice, and what a song. Timeless.

And as for the tepid audience... I reckon if these youths had known what music was going to be like in 40 years they would have been a bit more demonstrative.

  • If I was in that audience, I would have been crying over Roy.

  • Why doesn;t someone make a biopic about Roy Orbison?

  • @Freyja1133 They probably wouldn't do him justice... I would be scared to think of an actor trying to duplicate his voice.

  • @kastan06 Good Point... So would I

How about a girl duplicating Roy Orbisons' Voice?

  • @kastan06 MAybe someone else could do the singing for the actor( lipsnyching)

ROck star is the perfect example of this practice

I could replicate roys' voice for the actor

the actor who did a pretty job of immitating roy orbison vocally was the one in the movie walk the line t

  • @Freyja1133 that actually wasn't too bad. At the time I didn't know it was portraying Roy Orbison. My dad and I have been discussing him alot recently including his life story... My dad was saying he took heat quite a bit for his sad songs but my dads response to that was he didn't have an easy life.... he's talented and I appreciate his contribution to music :-)

  • @kastan06 A lot of the Musicians of that era didn't ave very good lives..Look at Johnny cash for example after his brother died ,his father said "the devil this! He took the wrong son !" It was so obvious to me that Johnny cashs' father blamed him for his brothers' death

  • wearing suits and ties...... and short hair cuts...... what do you expect ??

  • i have listened to this while I was crying when i was younger

  • the version in mulholland drive is so much better than this shit

  • i love his voice !

  • 2:04 dude or chick?

  • @jasonkeri yes. :)

  • meanwhile... Hendrix is somewhere passing drugs and starting a revolution

  • people this well behaved are frightening

  • That crowd doesn't seem to know who their listening to, my Lord, that Roy Orbison, look like you're enjoying it!!!

  • @OkieDokie306 I know what a lame audience.

  • @OkieDokie306 Well, it's not like he's setting the stage on fire with his performance.

  • @OkieDokie306 They're just in shock.. :)

  • @BobDoleNSatanRmyniGz For 1965, these kids are losing their shit while Orbison tears it up.

  • @spscotto hahaha

  • @spscotto I gave you a thumb up just for your user name. O_o

  • @BobDoleNSatanRmyniGz I LOVE WHITE PEOPLE!

  • terry fator brought me too...lol

  • Terry Fator brought me here!
