I own both the 480 got a quiet QSK , the receiver is similar the 480 is slighty better is you look at the QST test. The advantage of the ft 450 is the DSP filter, in the 480 you had to buy a xtal filter and is quite expansive, both are very good rigs good choice from IZ0PXT
