  • Chevrolet Volt is very impressive, but no revolution in fuel efficiency. The Chevrolet EV1 was all electric. THAT was 'an American Revolution' that was killed in committee following a Big Oil handshake. Bob Lutz is no hero.

  • Seeing GM allows dealers to install crap TAIWAN aftermarket hubcaps, door handles and mirrors and they try to convince you its a GM appearance package,, if you are looking at a GM vehicle ask the dealer if ALL parts are GM parts!!! Read your contract well specially the fine print where it says GM sold the dealer a base (stripped) car and allows the dealer to finish the build with whatever parts they want.. BE careful with GM,, best bet just buy a FORD.

  • This car I´ll hope and which it comes to Sweden too, I´ll want one! USA will make electric cars but sweden will only make combustion yet. If this car comes to Sweden, all combustion cars get out! Please Chevrolet Volt! Come to Sweden too!

  • finally a advert that is unlike the old GM EV1, this ain't scare you away!

  • Its overpriced to disourage most people from buying it so we can stay 99 percently on gasoline until the man decides otherwise.

  • I dont have $45k to enjoy the American REVOLUTION, SAD =(

  • @im1greatman my car is a 04 Grand Am, built in the states, it's about as reliable as a turd on wheels and with a blue book value to match.

  • @DroidNoid You make very good points but I'm starting to think the American people are destroying ourselves and don't realize it yet.

Similar to boiling a frog slowly.

  • WHERE ARE THE PRETTY GIRLS?

    ("Who Killed the Electric Car?")

  • Think of it this way if you buy a Japanese car you are sending your money to the same country that was responsible for killing thousands of Americans back in 1941 during the Pearl Harbor attacks! If you buy a American car you are helping create more jobs and your money stays here in America!

  • i remember this commercial from september 2009 when i was in dorm at MSAD with many deaf and hard of hearing kids

  • Well, American cars aren't bad, it's just that we lost our trust in them in the 90s and its hard to gain back trust.

  • we left the battery the first time was not because the oil company paid us to, we did not have the batterys like we do today, the oldstyle batterys to power a car would weigh like a ton! they tryed solar power panels but whats the use of those if you cant charge at night or on a cloudy day. we have to technology/batteries now to make lighter batterys that can power cars, but i think the best option for a car would be hybrid, i couldnt trust a oversized R/C.

  • Cause it doesn't come out to late this year

  • GM sold its electric car battery patent to Big Oil GM is sleeping with the enemy

  • How come they are not selling those cars, and I dont see them on commercials anymore. i have been waiting for those cars with excellent fuel mileage.

  • This thing is the wort peice of junk since the suv. The EV1 that GM built and dystroyed did 110 miles "without useing any gas at all"

  • Yep, it was sad when all the companies destroyed all the electric vehicles just cus the oil company had it's finger around chrysler and gm.

  • Wrong. The vehicle had a lot of problems. Could never go out of the city. They never sold the cars. It was a trial that was predestined to end. Battery tech was not where it is today. Even today primary electric cars will not do well and most will fail. Storing non liquid power is the future, but it's not here yet. Super caps are starting to make a pull in tech and current storage isn't there for ANY current media yet.

  • If you have watched the video you will see it was a lot more than that. Other manufacturers were making electric cars too that they all took off the market also, chrysler and gm signed a bill that was in corporation with the oil company that made it ok for gasoline cars to run in California so they could keep making tons of money, check out the video, wasn't problems, there were other things.

  • The movie you are talking about is filled with half truths, myths, and propaganda.

  • Отличная реклама.

  • el mejor auto hibrido... obviamente tiene que ser de chevrolet... chevrolet (GM) te amo...

  • Piece of crap

  • Gm announced it made a car that goes 230 MPG in the city.

  • Not to be negative, but, Honda And Toyota will probably beat them Just like they did with the prius and insight. And, why is it that garage built EVs average higher miles per charge out of their lead acid powered EVs.

  • But GM had built hybrids back in 97 the government made them make more pick-ups and not fuel efficient cars to save money? But its Triple Backfired.

  • I have been on the chevy volt's website and it says that 75% of American comuters could use this for going to work and back without using a drop of gas.

WELL THAT'S JUST FINE BUT THE MAYJORITY OF AMERICANS COULD NOT AFFORD THIS CAR

and that is why this car is pointless

Also if every one had one of these the power plants would need to produce more electricity, causing MORE pollution, thus making the "green" part of this car pointless!!!!

  • The energy used to produce the electricity to run the car is less than the energy that would have been used to power the car using gasoline. Also, as designs get better, the cars will become more affordable.

  • I agree with the end and most of your point, also the pollutants that are used to build cars, trucks(parts,Ships,Planes),Buses(Workers), and america shouldn't be doing Cash for clunkers, its just all a mess!

  • i doubt it

keep dreaming its good to dream

  • GM -> your the GREATEST coporation this world has ever seen .

Its time for a new begining ! . . You can do it . .

Build them like you did before . .Fast and Mean !

  • more part golf cart than car.

  • Yep, just like your car's more golf cart than car. Golf carts come with cantankerous gas engines too, you know.

    IF

electric car = electric golf cart

    THEN

gas car = gas golf cart

    ENDIF

  • The Volt can go 40 miles on pure electric, after that the E-85 fueled motor kicks in to produce more electricity so the care can travel further. between 300-600 miles on one charge/fuel.

This car will in no way fail. We need to support our companies here at home. Think of it like this. If you buy a Japanese car, you sent your money over to them.

if you buy American cars our money stays right where it belongs, here in America!

  • Chrysler corp has a big fat minivan and an anachronistic 4door Jeep that get the same EV range as the Volt. The volt is nice, but it's nothing special technologically.

  • timberbridge, which minivan? Which jeep?

  • If Americans shouldn't buy Japanese cars, would you argue that Europeans shouldn't buy GM cars?

  • @im1greatman dude, GM cars are not only built in America but also in Mexico and Canada.

Also, most people do not like their cars because they are unreliable.

After owning 3 GM's, I'm done, this is the last one, I would much rather invest in a "More reliable Japanese product " and give them my money, than waste thousands on a "American product " that needs repairs regularly.

And I think Government Motors owes ever single legal working American a Volt for saving their sorry asses already.

  • @stichy420 I agree that many cars from GM are built in Canada and Mexico also. If you are willing to buy an American brand vehicle I'm quite sure you would only buy those built here in the states.

Most newer American vehicles built in American facility's are very reliable. Maybe your bought a Mexican GM. lmao

While GM does owe the American people, the federal government was the one that bailed them out with most people against it.

  • @stichy420 listen over 70 % of GM cars are built in the USA. 2 I bet you would like american cars better than honda's that can't even stop.

  • @Davo32795 that's toyotas actually

  • With you 100% of the way!

  • @im1greatman Amen

  • @im1greatman but then you should have brought that up 50 years ago when they started importing Cars. They've been making cars here for more than 35 years and now you think our $ goes there?

Where are Benz and BMW come from? Hello? Jag? the popular Land Rover? I can keep going for next 25 mins.

  • @im1greatman And that my kids is the idea of mercantilism, which destroyed Europe.

  • @im1greatman funny considering that the Volt is now being made in China

  • i really hope so as Toyota and HOnda are becoming arrogant

they need competition and im just disappointed big3 is not really giving it to them. they've been losing marketshare the last 10 years thats unforgivable

  • I agree they have been a bit of a team, but hurting them selves, but not giving competition to chance

  • As of late, Ford's been kicking some rump in reliability and quality. They just need to put out some decent, more efficient cars. The Fusion Hybrid is on the money, beating the Japanese hybrid sedans (Camry, Accord, Civic hybrids).

  • just a little nudge on the behind and they will FALL

    LIKE A ROCK !

  • Yeah i think they will fall and be rebuilt.

  • And they will be back.

    LIKE A ROCK !

  • but the volt is a science project that doesnt exist nor proven

Insight sold over half a million in 10 years and its proven pricing at LESS than HALF the price of a Volt

$45K vs $19K its no contest who wins

    plus GM is BANKRUPT !

  • No not yet they need to be file bankrupt and also the Volt does exist, but sold somewhat. The company GM is in a zombie state if being ran.

  • I say that the Volt is better than the Honda

    Insight!

  • LoL, 30 MPG!!!, we had cars that did that and better 25 years ago

  • whats that song called??????

  • i love this music. it would sound great on my blog when i discuss running.

  • Our 9 year old 2000 Ford Ranger EV NiMH gets 65 miles per charge....and has been for 9 years...

NiMH...only PROVEN battery to move a vehicle!

  • just love it

    i love GM

    they are just the best

  • Masterpiece of a commercial... Thanks for posting!

  • this version is slightly different then the Canadian version.

  • Really? I didn't notice anything?

  • Im an American but im up in Canada when i saw it. they go by the metric system. they go by Liters instead of gallons and it doesn't say "An American Revolution" at the end of it.

i cant seem to find there version on here.

  • OIC

  • Often they have 'gallons' as well in the commercials but it's extremely misleading because apaprently we use the British gallons which end up making the fuel economy better if you think in American gallons.

  • oh thats crazy

  • Yeah agreed.

  • love the music

  • epic commercial.

  • 40 miles without using any gas at all. that's nothing special, never mind an American Revolution.

  • hey dekubber, name another car out there that can do it. enough said. this car will do for chevrolet what the prius did for toyota.

  • AC Propulsion eBox, a conversion of a Toyota Scion xB

Current, a 4 Door/4 Passenger Hatchback with 65-200 miles distance per charge and 65-70 mph highway speed

    Lightning Motor Co. Lightning GT

    Peugeot Partner

    Phoenix Motorcars

    Piaggio Porter Electric

    Tesla Roadster

Think Global produced 200 Th!nk City cars in 2008

    Venturi Fétish

    ...to name a few

  • I've seen another version of the ad without the voice over, which I liked better. But this version is still very cool. Very clever ad.

  • Where did you see the version without the voice over?

  • I saw it on Faux Cable News & Friends in A.M. I want this song w/o voiceover . . .

  • I love this commercial. Its almost as cool as the original EV1 commercial.

  • Volt is so cool.
