also... in real life, he would have had her bare completely, so folks, he is not being perverted lol, you are suppose to cut away all restrictive (including bra) clothing to properly place pads. He did not call 911, big mistake, he should have done that at AED prompt or before.
OK, this was a little sloppy, but give the guy a break he is probably still a student: here is the correct advice. Take an American Red Cross CPR and AED class!! Also: he should have commenced compression, once he established no pulse on carotid artery. 30 nice, even compressions, he was going way to fast on both the ambu bag breathing (should be 1 sec count:compress ambu, then one sec nothing, then another ambu breath, then compression. Breath should be like natural, not hyperventilate pt!
AED Giveaway... Yep, American Med Supply is giving away an AED, and a bunch of other cool prizes. Just look up American Med Supply on YouTube for all the details. You don't have to buy anything or anything like that.
thats right reach across the throat and risk squeezing the airway. great placement of AED on the patient, leaked electricity might not damage the machine if shock given.
What a load of rubbish.... Why would you want to secure the airway of a non breathing patient prior to any primary airway and breathing assessment. If the patient is not breathing it is a PRIORITY to commence with chest compressions rather than waste valuable time messing about taking a pulse....THIS IS A VERY MIS LEADING AND DANGEROUSE VIDEO< DO NOT FOLLOW THIS BAD EXAMPLE !
To the folk below who are concerned about this patients spine....I think in an arrest, the fact that the patient isn't breathing takes priority, forget about the spine, secure the airway n get onto the chest asap. n if moving the patient keeps u safe, move them n move them quick....
Okay people If you find an unconscious person do not drag them like that unless there are hazmat's nearby. Take full spinal precautions and utilize the jaw thrust maneuver when opening the airway. For all you aspiring emt's look elsewhere for the proper technique.
@socalfrijolito If the guy performing cpr feels that he would be able to better perform outisde of the bathroom, he should, by all means move her without spinal percautions. If the person is apenic and pulseless, as shown in the video, doing proper cpr takes priority over spinal percautions. I agree with you on the jaw thrust though.
Plus, based on her age, falling from a standing height probably wouldn't injure her neck. Theres always a risk, but getting to CPR fast takes priority. Imo
@egomike88 much agreed! being a certified first responder and professional rescuer, not only can it arch the shock, but it can also cause severe burns to that area of the patient!
What ever happened to the basic ABC's? Open Airway (Head Tilt/Chin Lift or Modified Jaw Thrust), Check for breathing (10 seconds), Ventilate twice (to confirm airway is open), check for a Carotid Pulse (10 seconds, and with head tilted back)...Oral airways are adjucts to a manual airway maneuver such as the Head Tilt/Chin Lift....she needs chest compressions immediately for a minimum one minute.
@defibtrainer wow , where did you learn BLS ?? If the patient is not breathing normally then proceede with 30 chest compressions to perfuse the heart before giving 2 ventillations and then repeat 30:2, 30:2......
ok noe this was'nt to bad. i did notice some small things but also very large things, such as he moved her to a different location. i know you need room to do that but also you need to take into consideration that its possible she has a spinal/neck injury and the way he moved her was in my opinion unprofessional but other than that, for a demo not to bad
I see about 5 things that as a healthcare provider should have not done. He made some very bad mistakes while doing this better hope your boss dosent see it!!
Yeah she would choke. But I guess in the video she is unresponsive and in that case, usually the gag reflexes are. It's risky cause she could easily vomit if she awakes. Ugh.
could he move a little slower?? it's not like this is an emergency or anything. im on the fence with this one, if it is fake, then the guy could have KILLED that girl but doing compressions. BUT... i didnt see her chest rise with ventilation and i may have seen breathing in between shocks. i could be wrong. if it is fake, it was way too risky
beleave it or not in 14 and know CPR very well, i had brothers and sisters who i had to use it on, my mom trusts me to look after my bro/sis when she has it cuz i no how to do it, but very good example btw.
I'm in the UK. Current CPR guidelines for non-medics here, state that checking for a pulse wastes time. One checks for responsiveness and breathing of a patient. If NO breathing then start CPR immediately, plus of course summon emergency medical assistance and get the AED (if one is available)
I believe the logic behind that is if the person is not breathing, then the chances that their heart is not beating either.
also... in real life, he would have had her bare completely, so folks, he is not being perverted lol, you are suppose to cut away all restrictive (including bra) clothing to properly place pads. He did not call 911, big mistake, he should have done that at AED prompt or before.

Cut the bra off! Not being a pervert but the underwire in the bra could arch out the shock.
