As for patriotism vs nationalism, I think it is because the American gov. has its people to think in terms of "us vs the world" and so, since Americans believe that it is their "duty to bring democracy to the world," then any other country showing any patriotism MUST be nationalist i.e. against Democracy and Americanization.

Cool! Scary! I just want to point out, that common misconception has infiltrated this great film - Estonia was occupied by USSR (Soviet Russia) in June 1940, and not after the WWII. People in the West often are not informed that while Nazis were taking over Poland, Belgium, Denmark, France etc. Russia did the same, taking over Poland (invaded 2 weeks after Nazis, in coordination), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, part of Romania, tried Finland too, but got kicked in the ball. The west is affraid of a strong Russia and is doing everything it can to prevent Russia from regaining any kind of real strength. Although on the other hand one should keep in mind that Putin is also indeed a politican and the USSR did indeed occupy many of those countries before and after ww2 - the Baltic countries were never a part of imperial Russia before the USSR.
