  • Chet Atkins and Earl Klugh What a lovely performance. I wish I had the chance to meet Mr. Atkins. He seemed like such a lovely person. I read that he sighed Charly Pride the first AA country singer at a time during the Civil Rights movement and in the south no less. Chet also loved jazz. Well thank goodness for youtube and thanks for uploading this video.

  • Brilliant combination

  • This is so good. I Hope Chet is playing in Heaven. Jimi J

  • C'est une musique qui guérit

  • Two of my favorite guitar players on the same song---what more could I ask for!

  • I simply love this. It's great. Pure melancholy. Outstanding.

  • I didn't know George W can play!! lol

  • Great Song!!!

  • Oh wow this is special!

  • This is relaxing...It helps me meditate.

  • Enjoy it everyone you'll never see this type of playin again EVER it can NEVER be repeated so enjoy the LEGENDS

  • nothing but beautiful

  • Beautiful music

  • please don't go to that site and download an mp3. This video was posted for the love of Chet and his friends and their fans enjoyment, not for anyone to steal - yes, steal - the music. The Music Industry has nearly been destroyed by piracy which unfortunately starts at home for far too many people. Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I know Chet would back me up on this one. I posted these because they are not available commercially -yet. Please don't steal the audio or video!

  • @EarwaveMusic Amen brother. Amen.

  • @EarwaveMusic they can afford/deserve to be stolen from because their profits are OBSCENE and they have ripped off every major artist who has come down the tracks.

  • @EarwaveMusic Chet is dead, I don't think he really cares at this point.. why should anybody else make money off of his work? But thanks for posting this.

  • Yes true beauty!

  • Where can I get the full video? Have seen many parts of it on youtube.

  • Please don't illegally download this tune. It was posted only because it hasnt been released on DVD and the world should be able to see it, but not steal it. Thanks!

  • looook that that strange guitar chets using, a resonator, but very very interesting

  • Sweet!

  • Pure Heaven.Chet raised the bar for versatilty in an unversatile age.Music was just music to him.The way it should be for any type.God Bless and never forget Chester B.

  • if this is what heaven is like then i cant wait to get there because these guys play like have been taught by god

  • I love this!!!!I even play it now on solo piano its just a captivating tune! Here performed by masters.

  • Why thank you sir! It was an honor to play with Chet and his friends. One of my fave tunes for sure...

  • @EarwaveMusic - What is the type of guitar that Chet Atkins is playing in this video? I would love to obtain one of those for my collection

  • @JazzyZenBrotha I believe its a Del Vecchio resonator, although he also used a Paul McGill resonator at times.

  • @jimraw1 - Thank you for the information. I'll need to get myself a resonator like Mr. Atkins. It'll be a nice addition to my guitar collection

  • @JazzyZenBrotha Good idea. I have a number of friends who play guitar. The resonator really lets them add a totally different sound, which can make all the difference for a certain song. All of the best guitarists master one specific guitar but always try different instruments to broaden their sound.

  • @EarwaveMusic You actually played with Mr. Guitar??? How marvelous. He was my guitar god growing up. I wish I could get hold of Caribbean Guitar. I miss that album so much. I lost all my vinyl in a moving wreck. Chets was among it.

  • Chet as usual is always the ''King'' and the arrangement is simply beautiful, but I really dug David Pomeroy's playing and sound.

    Thanks for posting this gem

    RC

  • This was just gorgeous. One of the best songs ever played by respective bests.

  • Is that the best? That's the best.

  • @sneezersneezer It's the best!

  • I recalled Earl and Chet in the early 1980's Austin Texas playing Goodbye Charlie. Both legands were magnificent !! Thanks for posting.

  • I listened to this again today. I'm in love again. This transported me to a very calm, serene place...

  • beautiful !

  • Still love the Okeefe version, for the

    guitar lick.

  • Very soothing to the soul!! Thank you.

Anybody know where Earl Klugh is playing these days? Would love to see him!!

  • I made a delivery to his house yesterday....

  • it could only be better if George Benson was also there

  • not sure about earl's guitar, but it might be a Sadowsky...

  • Wow. Anybody what kind of guitar is Earl Hugh playing? Such a beautiful tone...

Thanks for your replies... I really appreciate them.

And thank you to the poster of all of these wonderful videos as well.

  • Sadowsky nylon string. Check the web site. I have one just like it and it's super.

  • @ajames120 what's the nut width on your Sandowsky, and did you have to mortgage the home to buy it? :-)

  • I wish Chet still had a show. I'd like to see more of this guy live.

  • Chet's dead.

  • We'd all like to see more of Chet live, but unfortunately that's not going to happen.

  • Masters of the craft. Is this great or what?

  • Beautifully executed piece of music by two of the greatest guitarists.

  • Two legends at the same time. Chet & Klugh make a beautiful duo

  • Beautiful piece by two of the best.

  • Danny O'Keefe song never done better!!

  • Doesn't get any better than this! Legends!

  • Earl klugh .....one of a kind . Soul soothing sound from two of the greats

  • only the best can sound like this...

  • OHHHhhhhh MyyyyyYYYY BEAUTIFUL!! WOW! this is all I can say WOW!!

  • I first heard this song on Earl's "Magic In Your Eyes" album. This is one of the 3 or 4 most moving songs I've ever heard. It has a beautiful, melodic, melancholy about it that defies description. When I listen to this song, it almost brings me to tears: it's so simple, profound and direct. We are so lucky this was caught on tape. One often mentioned characteristic of genius is making the extraordinary look easy. Chet and Earl have few peers and they're artistry is clearly touched by genius.

  • Yes, just WOW! is all I can say :) I use too know someone who could play really good but he decided too go a different direction in life it's a shame that he laid his guiars down he could have been good like these two are so sad:( dj

  • Two beautiful guitarists. Anyone know about the guitars they're playing here?

  • Chet's is a DelVecchio...hard to play and hard to keep in good condition. He was introduced to the Delvecchio by Los Indios Trabajaras. The green guitar in the background is interesting... That's guitarist Pat Burgeson (formerly hubby of Allison Krauss) built it himself from two other guitars. He liked the neck of one and the bosdy of the other. He swapped them out.

  • Earl is playing a Roger Sadowsky nylon string electric. It has a narrower neck than a classical, and a Fishman pickup.

  • El alumno igualando a su maestro, ¡Gracias a Dios Earl escucho desde pequeño las interpretaciones de Chet Atkins y le sirvieron de isnpiración! Maravillosos.

  • brent mason in the background! :)))

  • outstanding!

  • damn it!!

i lovee all that kind of music, i love the song, i love the song and y like play it on my guitar, just beautifull ...

  • Love this so much! I miss entertainment like this. Thanks for posting.

  • theyd be bumped from the cma awards for the latest american idol blonde

  • To:moncmon & mjaywill:I'm the biggest Chet fan ever. I was fortunate enough to be living in Nashville in 1980 when the taping of "A Tribute to Chet Atkins" TV show happened at the Opry House. I was there! Another youtuber got me to go on the internet to look it up under that name. I bought the DVD w/Earl & Chet playing GTCGTBlues that night. The tickets were $50.00 each, (a fortune back then), and a friend of mine got me two 4 free. DVD is good, but not enough Chet on it. Hope this helps.

  • awesome combination of these two epic players! with an epic song!

  • This is the second version that I have seen posted to youtube. The first which was removed, was about one minute longer. The clip was much older because klugh looked to be about 20ish and Atkins played much more agressively he was phenomenal. If you like this you would have love the other clip. I wish I Knew Where to buy it.

  • hey your actually right! i've seen that vid before, now it makes sense that when i was lookin for it on my favorites i can't see it. please post it if you got the chance to have it! thanks! this vid was much shorter yeah.. i like the old one much better.

  • wow

  • mmuy bonito

  • America the Beautiful

  • Chet Atkins is one of the greatest guitar players there ever was. I love his version of "Vincent" on an old episode of "Pop Goes The Country". Could somebody please post that one???

  • this is the melody, pure. To mess this melody up to try and bring a newness to it is suicide. This is one song a musician better leave alone unless they totally want to disrespect the author. Isn't Chet one of the greats???

  • The man was incredible..

  • GREAT....THNX

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • this is incredible! two masters

  • very nice song

    thanx
