  • im 15 years old and im 6'5 294 lbs i play o line just started a week ago 99% of time the defence dont go for me head on (the last guy got rocked) instead they try to get around me any tips?

  • @da2hers play basketball in your spare time and focus hard on agility and explosion drills, because at your size, even in college, people will try to go around you more often than not. You need to work on your agility so that you're not only bigger, but also quicker than the man you're trying to block. If colleges see that you can move very well even at your size, they'll be falling all over themselves trying to recruit you.

  • okay as a recruit by OSU, PSU, and ND what i always try to do is be more aggressive than the guy across from you. and be as low as you can while under control. make sure you are strong and have good feet and 9 times outta 10 you will beat the d lineman or linebacker. remember, linebackers and secondary guys dont want to go head to head with you. they are going to use their speed as a tool against your massive power. you need to break down and dont try to overshoot into him. LATCH ON AND ATTACK

  • i play tackle and guard, not that it matters, but to the person who said just put ur helmet on the hip.... that doesnt work out. Take the slide step make impact and drive. thats all i do and it works like a charm.

  • Good tips but linebacker is mostly common sense but still a hard position to play mentally and physically

  • how would you get to the DE's hip there trying to get as low as possible too so to me it seems like a wasted effort, but what do i know :p

  • Mang..if the helmet goes to the DE's hip, how will this O -lineman get to the fast flow linebacker? Remember the OL can only block the most dangerous man. The OL's angle depends on the type of play..inside zone or outside. For an off tackle play, the backside tackle needs to tighten his angle up, compared to, say, a toss...he better get on his horse and take a better angle. The angle here looks like an inside zone

  • Too high...the OL should step low and get his helmet on the guys hip. The second step is equally important because it's where you have to turn the guy away from the hole. All he did was clog the hole.

  • lol what want ppl to be in a bent over ass to grass squat stance and try to block

  • you never want to turn any guy out of the hole.. The object of plalying o-line in college or higher is to drive your man off the ball and let the running back do his job and find a running lane to hit... High school is the last time you will here anybody saying turn a guy. All the O-lineman has to do is have his helmet under the other guys.. He is no good at hip level cause a good D-Lineman will just chuck you if you are that low.

  • I play right gaurd and when your blocking somebody always put turn your ass to the hole to make a lane

  • kinda helps
