This movie was made in 1989 or 1991, I can't remember exactly and it's almost as old as I am ;)

The incredible thing is that even though this movie clearly had cheesy acting and a low budget for the producer to work on, it still captured the essence of the dragonball manga to it's finest. Of course the characters do not resemble 100% the ones in the anime but they still come pretty damn close.

The sad thing is that DB:evolution was made in 2009 and it's trash comparing to this movie!

There both pretty terrible allthough raping the franchise aside Evolution had some OK fight scenes which in my opinion rases it slightly above this from a purely critticle perspective but this still has the edge in being so bad it's good.

Of course as a DB fan this wins some points for me in terms of being more loyal which puts it above evolution.

What's with the willingness to remain ignorant of the facts? This film was made in Taiwan, though the language was Mandarin (so I guess I can understand the mistake). In any case, this is actually a competently made Kung-Fu film, and it stands on its own in that genre. I think the reason it's ridiculed is because of its association with Dragon Ball (the real one). But even so, as everyone's stated here, one only has to look at DB:E to see how superior and fun this one is.
