In my church "The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints" we believe in allowing people to worship who, how or what they may, even that includes not even worshiping at all, if that is what the people want to do, but as for us we worship Jesus Christ. Also we do not believe in shoving our religion down people's throats, but allow people to find out the truth for themselves, however, we will share the gospel with those who are interested in listening.

I don't understand why they keep trying this method if nobody is even listening. It's obvious that it isn't bringint too many people to Christ. Why not try more one-on-one approaches rather than this un-welcomed open-air type stuff?

because the bible shows many examples of open air, try reading acts 17, paul to the athenians. its not bout winning tons of people or its not bout making tons of people say a prayer, its bout preaching the Gospel. we were commanded to preach it therefore we must preach it.

As a fellow Christian, I am disappointed in the way you overlooked this clear opportunity to truly spread the Gospel to a few individuals. If you are truly interested in helping others to know Christ, it is important to sieze opportunities as they are presented. For example, when the first person "approached" you while you were speaking, why couldn't you have stepped down and spoken to them individually, rather than yelling at them in front of hundreds? Only a changed heart can actually turn away from his sins. A changed heart doesn't come until AFTER he is saved. The Holy Spirit will come in and eventually help him to forsake his sins (on His time, not ours). Repentence is simply realizing your need for a Savior to go to Heaven. I applaud your effort but you lost your audience because you just couldn't get to Christ. You didn't even mention Christ until way too late. Remember, preach Christ and Christ alone.

Whenever you're doing open-air preaching, you have to GET TO THE POINT FAST! You don't need to go into all that. You need to preach CHRIST, not man's condemnation. People just need to know that because they're not perfect, they need a Savior. That's it. Also, to REPENT does NOT AT ALL mean to forsake one's sins!! That is heresy! To require a lost sinner to forsake his sins BEFORE salvation is requiring a changed heart before conversion...

We must see our need for a savior by seeing ourselves as God see's us. We can only see ourselves as sinful and deserving Hell by the law (10 Commandments as Jesus opened them up to show the spiritual meaning) as Paul said ...I would not have known sin but by the law. Then repent of our unbelief, repent of our dead works, and repent of those sins which have now become exceedingly sinful by the law. We must know the disease (sin) before we will accept the cure (cross)

Autumn6, I agree that he could have gotten to the gospel quicker BUT repent DOES mean to turn away from sins and turn to God. God's word says 'Repent and believe the gospel' not 'Believe the gospel and repent'. God said He is not willing for any to perish but for ALL to come to REPENTANCE. Repentance is the condition necessary for forgiveness of sins, OTHERWISE, since God is not willing that ANY should perish, NONE would perish. Repentance is a constant requirement to receive forgiveness.

When I say constant requirement, I mean we DAILY take up our cross and follow Him. We are constantly turning from our own will and submitting to His will. We are constantly turning to Him until we die. We must endure until the end. Once Saved Always Saved will take many professing believers to Hell. We are told to bear fruit IN KEEPING with REPENTANCE.
