  • backup singers are shite

  • lyric please!!!

  • This is the only show that you can literally watch from beginning to end (short opening theme & funny scene with end theme)

  • For those that don't know...these are The Coats, from Seattle, WA. :)

  • I did not know he could sing. Revelation.

  • why not just use a piano?

  • WOw so cool 0 i am putting this on my blog... THANKS

  • Quite Stylish.

  • DAHM THAT BARBERSHOP QUARTET!

  • I love that show! Martin is the besssssssssssssst!

  • Fuck the Backup singers they ruined it.

  • that gave me gas :(

  • I've always wondered why they had the backups. They should have had Kelsey/Frasier sing "Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs" with a silent skit going on.

  • Frasier Crane Day was set as September 11th, eh? The day that would later come to be the most notorious day in American culture? That's... exactly the sort of thing that would happen to Frasier. How appropriate.

  • ruined by the other guys

  • The quartet is actually a group called "The Coats" or they used to be called "The Trench Coats". They're usually pretty good, and there is another recording of them singing with Kelsey, that is what I was looking for , not this one - too bad they sound so awful, saw them in person in Oregon in the 90s and they were excellent

  • That's Rockapella, isn't it? Usually they're pretty good but this was a pretty big exception. They were trying to do too much.

  • yea the backup singers were a fail for this one

  • Sept 11, 1997? that means exactly four years later they'd lose David Angell and his wife

  • @corrupt200 everybody's gotta go at some point... hopefully your turn is coming up fast

  • @corrupt200 and then 2 years later feline aids would emerge. Feline Aids, it's the number one killer of cats. Wompwaaaa

  • Holy fuck the background singers should be shot.

  • It took me a long time to realize that it was Kelsey Grammer singing the theme song. I didn't realize it until I actually saw him singing the song. After that I was very amused as to how I didn't catch it before. XD

  • I heard this was written by Bruce Miller and Darryl Phinnessee. If i remember correctly, this song goes with Bb7, Gb7, Ab7, Db7, Eb7, Eb7#11, and Db7. Correct if i'm wrong.

  • hola, vivo en mexico

si alguien de seattle ve esto, diganme: porque es tan importante frasier?, que hasta le dan su dia

  • Fucking hell, it's hilarious when actors out-perform 'professional' singers. The whole lot of them should've been shot.

    Frasier's awesome.

  • I could've done without the back up singers....

  • pussay

  • How ironic; this rally happened exactly four years before terrorists attacked our country.

  • @cfamcny939 do u know what ironic means? Cause I fail to see the irony... lol

  • @cfamcny939 how is that ironic?

  • THE BACK SINGERS ARE SO DICKHEADS ! :S

  • Who agrees with this please message me .. Kelsey is super good but the chrous or back ground singers sucked

  • who the fuck were them puffs attempting and failing at the backing vocals?

  • This was on the first episode I ever saw :O The frasier crane day one I think xD

  • Kelsey Grammer has like 6 dui's. mother fucker loves to party

  • I miss smart TV. With all the reality shows on now you kinda feel dumb in retrospect.

  • Wow, those back singers should be sued.

  • yeah those stupid people in the back messed it up especially that dumb chick ugh shut up!!

  • That date, i know I know it from something... Probably not important.

  • Kelsey Grammer Is awesome but what is UP w/that dang quartet

  • am I the only one who knows what tossed salad and scrambled eggs actually means? I've never met anybody else who did.

  • @wattever333 Fuck you.

  • @adrianphmojado wow! what the hell was that for? can someone explain? I didn't say anything mean. it was a simple question.

  • @adrianphmojado What was the F-you for?!

  • @crazypianolady Sorry, I wasnt the one who said the F word. My friend used my account. I just wanted you to know the truth. I really am a nice guy.

  • According to Miller "When I was hired to write the theme song for Frasier, I was told not to mention psychiatry, crazy people or radio, but make it germane to the show. That was a tough one, but I called my lyricist Darryl Phinnessee and he came up with the title tossed salads and scrambled eggs, which suggests things that are all mixed up. I thought of the opening line, "I hear the blues a-calling," which seemed to fit, and we put the rest of the lyric together."

  • Grammer was pressed into service to deliver the goods, after the idea of using Mel Torme was nixed by Angell, Casey and Lee, the show's producers. Miller adds, "When I went into the studio with Kelsey, something magical happened. He started making it something way beyond what the song really said. It was Kelsey being Frasier."

  • For another perspective, here is what one of the show's co-creators, David Lee, said in the book "Frasier: The Official Companion Book" by Jefferson Graham:

It's been fun watching the different theories regarding the meaning of "Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs" pop up over the years. I don't think "Hamlet" has been as closely scrutinized or more divergently interpreted. Here is what I (and the songwriters -

  • @Zorg2006 it's not complicated. Both expressions are slang synonyms of vomit. And "they're calling again" is a feeling that you're going to vomit again. And doing therapy has been compared to vomitting.

  • @wattever333 I messed up the copy and paste there in fact - I copied all that text from an interview with the guy who wrote it, who said the people 'calling' is simply a reference to Frasier's phone-in show. Search for theanswerbank and it's on there.

  • Great.

  • 9/11

  • hello seatle i love you!

    my fav tv show

  • WTF are the quartet doing ????

  • LOL My Fav Theme! Cheers Theme 1% Better

  • wow kelsey grammers awsume! but wtf is with the quartet?

  • these crazy coots! jus' another plate of toss' salad an' scramble eggz.

  • i was wanting an e-salad and scrembling eccs in my home town! and once i did seaing this song. o is how my heart fluster like funny stuff! jebus jebus frasier i die for u.

  • Those other guys fucking stink. Are they professionals?

  • Yeah wtf they sounded well off.

  • I got a tingley feeling down my spine hearing him do it live! That is television gold.

You got to love what a good actor kelsey is and how he conducts himself after all his tradegys.

  • well it sounds like he was the original singer regardless.

  • Weird I never even imagined that someone else could have sung it.

  • one of the best comdeys on tv next to Cheers

  • I didn't know my boy Kelsey could sing! This dude's awesome :)

  • Manhattan Transfer style !!

    COOOOOOOOLLLL !!

they don't make shows like that lately.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!! THE BEST

  • yeah that would have been a great moment in TV history had those barber shop backing vocal tossers not been trying to steal the limelight. Nice moment all the same.

  • Heartily agreed. The whole point of backing music - or backing a capella - is to support the main vocals. Here it sounded like he was trying to sing while surrounded by farm animals...

  • Which episode is this the credits for?

  • "the 1000th show"

  • It's from The 1000th Show- Season 5, episode 5.

  • 100th u mean

  • no, audreyvingalikova is right. it's the 100th show of "Fraiser", yes, but they mean with 1000th Show, Frasiers Radio Show

  • dam those back singers, they ruined it :(

  • Damn right

  • @Shovaris agreed!!

  • Shouldn't the gackground singers stay in the BACKGROUND and let the lead singer stand out?

  • That is not a barbershop quartet

  • Wow, it was like they were all interrupting him in the middle of a sentence, it was kind of jarring to listen to :\

    Still, gotta love Kelsey's singing!

  • Stop singing, "Wooo!"

  • OMG I'm SO FREAKIN' SCARED I THINK I'M GOING TO SHIT MYSELF AFTER HEARING THIS DISTURBING FACT!!!

  • well said

  • Argh, those singers! My ears!

  • FRASIER ROCKS!!!

  • Those backup singers ruined it.

  • Wait there's a Fraiser Day in Seattle? Kind of awesome and fail at the same time.

  • How can an actor do better than (alleged) singers?

Simple; those other guys suck and shouldn't be on stage. Man Frasier is awesome.

  • i know people have already said this bud DAMN does this barbershop quartet suck :S Frasier rules btw!

  • it looked like 1998.

  • Was that the a cappella quartet The Coats singing the "Frasier" theme with Kelsey Grammer in 1997? If so, awesome! I've seen The Coats during my senior year in high school!

  • OMG OMG this theme is the best evr!!! I love it, I got to go Seattle someday.

  • same here!!!!

  • Yeah why the hell was there a barbershop quartet? I wouldn't have been surprised if Kelsey was put off and forgot the words to the song, I know I did.

  • This was on the episode where it was called "Frasier's Day"

  • i agree the barbershop quartet was awful they ruined it

  • The barbershop quartet had googd voices but they used them wrong" Goodnight Seattle we love you!"

  • Epic!

The barbershop quartet was shit though.

  • too loud,man.

  • Cool.
