natalie maines could sing the phone book and I'd still be hypnotized by her voice. She can do sweet, sexy,country, soul and she never misses a note. I stumbled on the video of the chicks at the 2007 grammy awards and was completely bowled over. I wasn't a fan before; I had a vague notion that they were some country girls doing typical, shallow "new" country music. Their musicianship, sophisticated lyrics, grace under pressure, and natalie's unbelievable voice, have made me a convert. Chicks rule

From a UK perspective we respected the Dixie Chick speaking her mind at a time when most thinking informed people of conscience were also appalled with our joint foreign policy.
