@vwestlife Yes Yes Yes, I read them and just tested my first video with SDCopy. It worked really well and was much easier than I thought. I thought SDCopy would be a longer upload / export process and make the quality of the video worse but it didn't. It seems to work very well.
@stauney123 There is some background hiss in the audio, but the external microphone input is a huge advantage. That is the #1 reason myself, and a lot of other people, bought the FS200.
@vwestlife Oh, okay. Well, i'm looking for a camera with an awesome built-in mic. I don't want to have to buy any 'extra' things like an external mic :) Thanks. It helped a lot!
@HDTVfilms It should, but you may have to use SDcopy to convert the video files from MOD to MPG format. See the video "How to edit/upload from SD camcorders."
I tried editing it on Sony Vegas, and it turns out all skinny, like I filmed myself and I look all skinny. Do you know why? I have no idea. I'm no good at this.
@vyisashe7 Use SDcopy before importing widescreen videos into Vegas. See the video "How to edit/upload from SD camcorders" for details on where to get and how to use this free, simple program.
What do you mean? Every camera has a certain depth of field, either large (deep) or small (shallow). This Canon has a rather large depth of field, so when it focuses on an object, the surrounding scenery does not go too much out of focus.
See my video entitled "How to edit/upload from SD camcorders." I have the FS200 and a JVC camcorder with both save video in the .MOD (MPEG2) format and that video explains how I make my YouTube videos using them.
I don't know, if I should buy this camcorder. I want to put the videos on my laptop and edit them with Adobe Premiere Elemets 7 or 8! So is it really a good cam to make movies inside, for example load them up to youtube?
Do you think this would be a good camcorder for making movies? I mean like, writing, filming, and editing it? I'm 14 and am on a LOW budget, and this seems to be good.
The Canon FS200 is an excellent, high quality camcorder for the price. If you can't afford it, look for the JVC GZ-MS100 camcorder on Newegg . com. They have it on sale for $144.99 right now, which is over $100 less than what a new Canon FS200 would cost you.
Thanks for doing this! the manual focus is great once you get the hang of it! I played with it at a best buy today myself but the sd card slot was blocked :-(
I don't know; I haven't tried out the Samsung. They are probably comparable in performance, except if you really want the Canon's external microphone/audio input.
Hey I need help with this camera if you could offer me some. I get those vertical black bars whenever I try to upload a video to YouTube, I've tried to many things to fix this to get it into a nice 16:9 format, but nothing seems to work. Can you help me at all? Much appreciated.
P.S. When I am editing the video in Windows Movie Maker or Vegas Movie Studios, these black bars are not present.
And I tried SDCopy, however the widescreen works in all of my media players on my computer, but I'm STILL getting the black box outlines around the ENTIRE video when I upload to YouTube. Ugh.
Are you using some kind of video editing program? The video you see here was a direct upload of the MPG file generated by SDCopy. If you still can't get rid of the windowboxing, add "yt:crop=16:9" (without the quotes) to the tags section of your video info and YouTube will "zoom in" on the center part of the image to remove the black border.
Looks like it has decent optics and a CCD sensor, which most solid state camcorders seem to lack. (You know CMOS "jellovision", it's caused by the pixels being read out sequentially with no light integration period)
Can someone please tell me how they recorded in 16x9? I can only seem to record in 4x3.

@stauney123 When it comes to the built-in mic, I think JVC sounds a little better than Canon, because there is less background hiss in quiet scenes.

You disabled the ratings. I was going to give you five stars just like I do with any other good youtube video.

I recently had to deal with some haters who were downrating my videos. Ratings are now re-enabled for this one.

Does it come with a cord that can let you upload your files onto a computer?

you need to learn how to use focus
fenderman21guitar 2 years ago
I know full well how to use manual focus, but these modern camcorders bury it deep within the menu system and make it nearly impossible to use.

faux1337 2 years ago
The SDCOPY program adds the 16:9 aspect ratio tag onto the MPEG-2 files so that YouTube properly displays them in widescreen format.
