If the flows were on-beat and there was some element of lyrical consciousness, I might accept them.

Big problem I have with Chicago-based artists is that, these days anyway, they're way too house-based. They aren't technical rappers, and considering most of their producers are tied to house, you have all these Daft Punk/Justice style beats that sound great on MTV Europe, but aren't hip hop. And you can't spit an honest 16 on something that's meant for hipsters and ravers.
