  • To be fair, I spent an episode doubletaking the whole time because Paul had grown his hair out slightly, and he and James May have very similar taste in shirts...

  • @galaxysong9

You're right. They do have a similar taste, -or frankly rather lack of taste- in clothing. Thing is though, Pauls isn't behaving like some pedantic boffin all the time. I can't receive this show on my television because i live in Holland, most likely given the fact that i'm Dutch...

  • That bloke on the extreme right, is it James May? He did sound slightly more assertive than his ussual...

  • @Coen1121221212121212 Lol, no that's Paul Merton. He's been on the show for about 20 years...

  • I have seen this guy on a few different thing and he is pretty good. Is he a stand up in America? Or does he have a tv programme? I would love to see more of him.

  • @thatguywiththeegg no he's never done stand up in the US

  • @Daleksaresupreme1

    A shame, he is funny.

  • I don't understand. Pot kettle?

  • @MrLazyEyes BLACK.

  • @MrLazyEyes It's a phrase, The pot calling the kettle black.

  • @MrLazyEyes It's basically a phrase used to call someone a hypocrit, as both the pot and the kettle are black, but the pot is pointing it out.

  • Reginald D Hunter makes Samuel L Jackson look like Harry Potter.

  • Comments reading exactly what you just watched............

  • ... fuck you you`re 12 years old, whattcha talkin` about ...haha

  • Gotta Love Reggie D Hunter!

  • Reginald rules!

  • Well whitey, lets just check the race-ometer!

  • mini mouse

  • But pots and kettles aren't the same :'(

  • that was really cringing from bill bailey, who is usually alright.

reg is a great off the cuff comedian, though.

  • racist comment

  • @jackm24111859 REPORTED.

  • who is he? he's funny

  • @pruniandthegang reginald d hunter, great comedian

  • Reg is quality he handles everything about race so well and makes it funny

  • What kind of scale is used on a race-o-meter?

  • @fritspas Could be increasing skin shade: Albino, Asian, White, Latino, Brown, American Black, African Black?

  • @jgkloosterman erm no you've misunderstood the race-o-meter refers to how racist the comment is on a scale.

  • His accent only makes it funnier :L

  • "let's just check the racometer!"

  • @angryant1220 I beg to differ, in the UK the govenment often funds a refurbishment of certain areas. In the US, whole towns have been left to rot for a century. Its like internet access, whenever they work on the cables, they take the chance to replace the telephone cables with better ones improving internet access. In the US many places have the same phoneline since they were first laid down. The problem is the size of the US and where to shift the funding, there just isn't enough money.

  • ..there's no tea :(

  • @stringera7x No tea and the cake is a lie, we have little left...

  • XD 'Well whitey...let's check the race-o-meter'

  • The comic timing of the green 'please don't leave racist comments' balloon was perfect :)

  • @PlainRedStripes I think bill was making a reference to the phrase "the pot calling the kettle black"

  • "12 year old niece made me a bet that HE would win" whats that about

  • @bazraz09 she bet him that boris johnson would win the election

  • @bazraz09 They were talking about Obama

  • The first two seconds of this clip completely freaked me out. Bill Bailey is awesome!

  • "let's just check the race-o-meter"

  • i love this guy.

  • who is the black guy? id love to have one of his dvd's

  • @MrFeva82 Reginald D. Hunter

  • best american comedian ever

  • Let's just check the race-ometer

  • I dont get it....

    sorry for being a dumbass

  • @PlainRedStripes might be too young for it

  • @PlainRedStripes whats not to get? o.o

  • The UK is not racist..and any person who says it is must be a FUCKING FOREIGNER. It pisses me off that people think they have a right to live in a different country from myself! Off to drink some coffee now(black coffee incidentally, nobody can accuse me of racially profiled beverages)

  • @EbsNhexz Sorry mate but you are completely wrong saying that. I'm was born in the UK, if you haven't forgot, the English are racist towards the Welsh, Scots and Irish, so don't you go chattin bout "The UK ain't racist".

By the way, I can imagine if people were filmed in their everyday lives, I reckon 95% of people in the UK would say something racist at least once and mean it, foreign or not.

  • @DJSimeone To begin with, you realise the comment you were replying to wasn't meant to be taken seriously right.. I thought I added enough blatant contradictions to make that clear. Most of the inter country rivalry is banter, there are a few places in north Wales and insular places in Scotland that might be bigoted towards the English. The 95% thing is bullshit, there are problems to be sorted but we are quite progressive compared to many other developed countries.

  • @DJSimeone Just to say, it's not only one way, I've met plenty of Welshmen and having grown up in Scotland, huge numbers of them who are racist towards the English... But I do agree that 95% of the UK would say at least something perceived as racist, I do wonder if it's human nature though as it is a truely global issue, we just don't give the racism in the middle east or asia a second thought.

  • @A16AdamWalker

All animals with higher brain functions display xenophobia. It's an evolutionary adaptation to create an "in group" "out group" response whereby those who band together against one group are more likely to survive and pass on their genes.

    Ironic really...

  • Race-o-meter would be so kool if it was real physical scale

  • lmfao, 'well whitey, we'll check the race-o-meter' i laughed so hard at that :D

  • @xUK91x if only racism was taken like this all the time...

  • @MassMurderMontageSs people have seriously blew the concept of racism out of the window in modern times. We all human, we really gonna hold feelings over what colour our skin is?

  • @xUK91x yh i know... sucks tbh.. were are all equal!

  • I'm just saying, it is geting a bit out of hand how serious the government is taking things. I'm not racist (lol sooo many ppl say that) But my aunt is a social worker and she was helping someone with someone who had a black mum and white dad, and the government have classed it racist to say "mixed race" it's now "dual heritage." It's just like teachers are no longer aloud to say "brain storm" as it could offend kids with mental disorders. Then again I'm white so who am i to say :s

  • I have no idea where the "pot calling the kettle black" quote came from, but it's a term about hypocrisy, not race, just like "Baa baa, black sheep" isn't racist ...stop getting your panites in a twist, people

This is why Reggie's a cool black comedian, he doesn't make 90% of his act all about race jokes & he doesn't use the N-word...unlike Chris Rock who uses it every chance he can

They really should have the Ask A Black Guy segment more often on HIGNFY, then we'd see LOADS more of Reggie!

  • @Tarynus I think it comes from when kettles and cooking pots were put over an open fire to heat up, thus aquiring a blacked look from the flames.

  • race-om-meter

  • @MassMurderMontageSs race-o-meter

  • @moshpotpaul my bad

  • where are the racists comments you dick?

  • I would like to have a race-o-meter.

  • LOVE this bloke

  • Jesus people on youtube need to get a fucking sense of humour and grow up, they are comedians... you watch COMEDY to hear JOKES you fucking morons. if you get offended go write to the politically correct BBC!, and as frankie boyle says "is he joking, that comedian up there on the big comedy stage. yes im fucking joking you retarded mongoloid fucks"

  • @Antimalwaregeek .... mongoloid? do you mean Mongolian?

  • @ChinaWillHayton No Mongoloid means retard.

  • @Antimalwaregeek No it doesn't. You're a fool. Mongoloid is an anthropological term, mongol is an offensive term for someone with extreme down syndrome.

  • @MrElegos Ok, go check the context in which Frankie Boyle uses the word. it can mean extreme down syndrome or it can mean, someone who looks like they have down syndrome but do not.

  • @Antimalwaregeek so Frankie Boyle is using the word in a RACIST derogatory context. making fun of someone who suffers from Down syndrome or is from a different part of the world is lazy, cheap and dumb. Mongoloid is an outdated slur from a less enligthened time. Wise up.

  • @thebalistic96 Have you ever watched anything frankie boyle has done, yes he uses words in that way AS A JOKE, if you cant take jokes then fuck off you cunt. also COOL STORY BRO.

  • @MrElegos a mongol is some from mongolia

  • "what is this? the ask a black guy seminar?" lol lol lol

  • @pwned222222222222222 segment...

  • reg is one of the funniest people on tv

  • I don't get why it woulda been racist :P

  • @OscarHracsO cos ian hislop has no hair and him callin regs hair would be "the pot calling the kettle black"

  • Comedian - a professional performer who tells jokes and performs comical acts.

  • "Well Whitey, lets just check the race-ometer" Lol

  • The best people are those who can laugh at racism even if directed at themselves. People need to grow some funny bones geeze.

  • Right wing racism / left wing racism = diversity, every one loves that.

  • he did look a bit like princess leia out of star wars

  • @XcadbaneX101 You sir has a bad pirate copy of starwars

  • @Spanulator lol. i guess so.

  • well whitey lets check the race ometer

  • i dont get the pot kettle jokes could some explain

  • @willyjucie The phrase is "the pot calling the kettle black" which basically means someone accusing someone else of something they are guilty of themselves; in this case Ian making fun of Reginalds hair. Ian hasn't got any hair, so take make fun of someone elses hair would be like the pot calling the kettle black. Hope that helped!

  • @fatmikecj yeah that really helped, well written and explained. thank you kind sir

  • anyone know the series and episode of this aprticular episode? would like to watch all of it, thanks =D

  • Raceometer, ROFL, I love these guys!

  • Reginald D's accent is so gorgeous :D

  • wow Americans calling us racist............

  • @angryant1220

Sure? Over there they don't get free healthcare.

  • Reginald D. Hunter has one joke: 'I'm black. Ha ha ha ha. I'm black, and you're white, and I'm not. Aha ha ha."

  • @PooKneader Me and you should definately go to see Lenny Henry some time soon then ;)

  • i love reginald d hunter and this video is about his comedy not racism, so leave out all the shit about racism

  • Best response ever - "Yeh, yeh, thats very witty." What a put down from Reginald D hunter!!

  • i feel stupid, but i dont get the pot..kettle...tea joke :/ can someone explain?

  • @claw2733 The original phrase is "the pot calling the kettle black" which means:

Pots and Kettles are one and the same, much like black and white people are, they both do the same job, but one feels that they are better than the other purely because it has one outwards appearance difference.

The reason Bill Bailey was going to say it is becasue (of course) Ian Hislop has no hair so he cant exactly scoff at Reginald's 'silly' hair. Helpful?

  • @doctorducky15 yep, really helpfull cheers - i had no idea :/

  • @doctorducky15 In the old days both kettle and pot were heated over an open fire, they both ended up with a black underside because of being blasted by the fires heat. The joke was that the pot is calling the kettle black when both were blackend by the fire.

  • @AngelEmfrbl ah that measures only a 2.5 on the raceometer...

  • @doctorducky15 the point isn't that pots and kettles are similar, it's that both (back in the days when this expression originated) were often sooty and blackened by use over a fire. An well-used kettle would be mocked by the pot for its sooty black appearance... while the pot is just as well-used and blackened, and has no right to talk. Hence, one person pointing out someone else's deficiencies while ignoring their own is "the pot calling the kettle black".

  • @claw2733 The pot calling the ketlle black!

  • whats with all the ego bashing? its a comedy vid, laugh then move on.

  • @angryant1220 Mate you talk crap. You been to every part of the US? Been to every part of the UK? Every country has a crap area, just as bad as the other.

  • you know what, the moment that all 'white' people and all 'black' people can joke about racism is the moment it doesn't exist any more.

  • "fuck you, you twelve year old, y'dunno whut'chu talkin' bout"

  • Ha! That guy is funny as hell! "F*ck you, you 12, you don't know what you talking about" :P

  • i don't understand pot, kettle, tea...explain please

  • @alanhoilun the saying is, "the pot calling the kettle black." saying something and being guilty of it yourself

  • The whole reason Reg works over here is that he says British people are hard to offend. We can take a joke. We make fun of each other in our comedy but it's not malicious.

  • @hippomonster3 Or we do get offended - but are too polite to say that we are.

  • what is this, the "ask a black guy" segment?

  • It's a comedy show, people should learn to think outside the box... look at the humour involved, Reginald D hunter, live at the apollo took the piss outta Americans and states Americans are retarded, Long Live the British man trapped in a yanks body!

  • awsome clip,still laughing now

  • one of the funniest minutes on youtube... BRILLANT!!

  • @starofcctv 59 seconds actually :D

  • It's good to see people not bitching like faggots about this shit

    In the video, that is

  • I think bill Bailey and Reginald D hunter are both soo funny, love HIGNFY :)

  • In the video: Jokingly racist comment taken in good humor.

On Youtube: Flame war over racism in the UK.

    Okay guys, okay.

  • @Waluigi101 - Where is there a "jokingly racist comment" in this video? Seriously I con figure out what you are referring too?

  • @Waluigi101 and ppl in UK: meh

  • Why are none of these comments about the video itself?

  • All these discussions about brits being recist would be sold if we had a race-o-meter.

  • Right can someone explain this joke to me please :L

  • @dodsy09 The Pot, Kettle part? It comes from the expression "The pot calling the kettle black" which is an expression people use to point out someone being hypocritical or contradicting them-self. The expression gets Shortened to "Pot, Kettle, Black" but obviously Reginald is black so he jokes about the expression being racist.

  • @M374EVL If you don't like him, don't watch, listen or talk to him. Basically, if you don't like him, it may be better for your personal live to avoid him. I don't walk up to people I hate and then ask them to tell me something that annoys me.

  • They should keep RDH every week. Him and Michael Gambon.

  • LOVE Reg :D

  • Anyone can be British ' that's the problem ' if anyone can join the club there is no point being part of the club .

  • fuck sake guys, hes a comdian who sparks up racism for his jokes

  • What you Americans don't get it that us brits can take a joke. Maybe some of us are little racist but you don't understand it's all a joke. And it's both ways. But I still hate racist twat

  • Not all Brits are racist. If anything, saying that all Brits are racist is racist in itself.

    Have a nice day.

  • British people are not racist, but there are racists Britain like there is in every country. We have HUGE Muslim, Polish, and Black communities here, so the amount of racists in this country is probably less than in say, America. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO SOUTH FUCKING AMERICA FOR FUCKS SAKE?

  • @BooshyFTW just a note. muslims aren't a race. islam is a religion.

  • @ohdoshutit I never said Islam was a race. I said there is a huge muslim community, which is true.

  • @BooshyFTW

Isn't it these COMMUNITIES which suggest racism in the UK, rather than the other way?

    P.S. Muslims aren't a race.

  • @Kyruis I didn't say that Muslims are a race..

I will simplify my point- the majority of people in England are not racist. People calling us as a nation racists are being racist themselves.

  • @BooshyFTW Or just ignorant.

  • @Kyruis Racial communities doesn't = racism.

People will be drawn to the familiarity and the comfort that comes with things such as race (customs, backgrounds, family, language etc.) - just because this happens doesn't mean they automatically harbor racial hatred. It becomes racism when different parties hold intolerance for the other.

  • @BooshyFTW i live in the southern US and based on your comment i am positive you have never visited here. (btw, muslim refers to people are a particular religion not a race) hope this helps educate ya kid.....

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 Yes but you can still be racist against muslims- ever heard of muslim hate crimes i.e burning of the Qur'an which is considered racist. Oh and not only have I been there, but you only have to watch a tv show on the south to see that some, not all people are racist there.

  • @BooshyFTW no i havent heard of those types of crimes....must be a UK thing. real world experiences of actually living here would beat the heck out of a tv show kid lol. you do realize that America is the most diverse country in the world right kid?

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 Yes America is the most diverse country in the world. It's also one of those with the most race problems in the world in history. There's still elements of segregation and racism still existing legally in america today.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS yeah i agree the civil war and ethnic tensions going on right now in Sudan, Iraq, el salvador, georgia, somolia, laos are absolutely terrible. oh wait, you were talking about America? LOL

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 As i said, segregation and racism (both ethnic tensions) still exist in America. I never said anything about civil war. Amazing that in some states the right to votes for some black americans among other minorities was denied as recently as the 2004 elections (maybe even 2008) due to the rules about voting - aka. the requirement of having a driving licence which favoured the white who could afford to learn whereas the blacks couldnt. Its a form of deliberate segregation.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS dude i dont know where you are getting your information, but you sound absolutely ridiculous. come visit America some time. you will enjoy yourself more than you might think

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 I got that information from when i studied US politics just under a year ago. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying ALL of America is like that, infact most of it isn't. However, there are still areas where there are attempts at segregation of other races (which amounts to racism) and that it is taking time to over turn these issues.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS no where in this country do you need a driver's license to vote. i highly doubt you read that in any book during your studies. in order to vote, one does need to be registered and the registration process can occur at the DMV-the same place licenses are issued. but registering to vote and receiving a driver's license are two completely different things. registering to vote is free; poor people can afford it as it costs nothing. state ID is $4/yr. i think you just got confused

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 For a start, i did read that in a book during my course, and then we discussed it as a group. It was one of the central/southern states that i know we focussed on, and we particularly looked at a state that was trying to pass a law that required a driving licence to vote (note these are two different states not the same one). I know for a fact that some voters were unable to vote due to this requirement as they couldn't afford to get a driving licence, not state ID.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS well first of all, trying to pass a law is different than a state actually HAVING that law. no law like that currently exists in any state in the US, so you have been sadly misinformed. secondly, the reasons behind trying to pass a law like that has nothing to do with race and black americans but rather immigration because there are concerns that illegal immigrants (who can be of any race) are voting and a license requirement might help fix that problem

  • @TRUExSIGHTS i live and vote in the US and i can assure you that an appropriate form of ID is all that is required when showing up at the polls; the ID could be a driver's license, or state ID or federal ID. state and federal IDs are extremely cheap; obtaining a drivers license is actually very inexpensive here as well-the biggest expense is the actual purchase and repair of your vehicle, as well as the insurance on it. dont believe everything that you read;i was told a lot of bs at my school to

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 You vote in one state though, not all 50. The voting systems (requirements atleast) vary between states, so you can't say that one states rules are the same as anothers. I just know that a few states still have attempted sorts of segregation, some of which have been overturned by the Supreme Court.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS well ive lived in several states but that doesnt even matter. my point is that in the US voting is easy and voting is free. driver's licenses arent required anywhere, you just admitted yourself that the Supreme Court has rejected that proposal by certain states. besides, the segregation or discrimination you started talking about is people of certain races being denied voting rights. now you are talking about people without cars. huge difference, even if it was true, which it isnt

  • @TRUExSIGHTS id suggest visiting the US during election time and seeing the process for yourself. i wont begin to question the UK election process, and you shouldnt judge ours without observing it first hand. i would also encourage you to visit some of our cities so you can see first hand black americans driving around in mercedes benz. then you can visit west virginia and observe all the white people who dont own cars at all. its incredibely naive to think the poor in the US are mostly black
