I saw this as a little girl and thought it was pure magic. I can still remember gasping at the beauty of this act. It was like being hypnotized, I couldn't take my eyes off of the girls swinging so gracefully on the chandeliers.
This show was fantastic!!!!! My uncle works as a choreographer here in this show and he was assisting the chandeliers girls on their routine. I got to go in nthe chandeliers for about 10 seconds, but it was great!!!1
I remember seeing this a few years ago! We sat.. two rows away from the stage. POSSIBLY the coolest thing ever (other than, of course, being in the chandeliers XDD )
Cirque de Soliel is better than any circus or show you will ever go to. I went to Corteo and Quidamn and Saltimbanco I think. Quidam and Saltimbunco [sp?] were back when I was little so I remember little but they're so amazing! Corteo's music is great as is Quidam's! I highly suggest finding the soundtrack. I now have almost an obsession with Cirque de Soliel. Gives you the best dreams when you listen to the msic before bed.
I saw this show last month in Portland and it was amazing! They do not have the roudy boys in this scene anymore. I know this because right at that point where they come on, the two main girls were on the middle chandelier together. I remember this because at that point, too, one of the girls on the side chandeliers FELL OFF! She was knocked out and twitching on the floor! Scariest thing EVER! She fell from the very highest point... She was taken to the hospital and ok now.
i saw corteo during spring break, omg it was the best 2 and a half hours of my life! im even more inspired to try out for Cirque du Soleil in a few years from now
I loved this until the actors playing the boisterous boys came on the scene, whistling loudly. Then I took it back off my playlists and favorites. I will never visit this again.
I saw this actaully like... last week, and they have the singer (Paul) on stage, and they have the boys run through it once in the middle, and then they all come out at the end of the act.
I'm a juggler, and used to do the lyra, and this is a very beautiful version of the ariel hoop. This song, Volo Volvando stands as my favorite song ^^. But my second is 'El Cielo Sabra' the Tightwire number. The entire show is a beautiful piece of art, bravo the the creator.
Whaaa this is great! I haven't seen this show yet, but I really want to! I want to see them all :D The great thin g about CDS shows is that sooo much is happening at the same time :D
Haha. I loved this part. We're sitting right next to the ramp, so we could hear them grunting and stuff. They would make us very very nervous because they'd sling the bed around. It was very scary because they'd pretend to catch it at the last moment. I loved it.
This was my favorite part in the show as well when I saw it in Atlanta. However, there wasn't anyone running across the stage like that if memory serves me right. Someone had said on the Cirque hp that they had improved greatly upon the preformance since the DVD release of it. I think they were right. However, the jugglers weren't in the one we saw either. :( Perhaps they had some reason to not be there, but either way - it was still a great show. Loved the music totally.
You should watch on the white clown's website. It's taras-videos(dot)net He has blogs there that say when things are taken out, or why this wasn't there, or who didn't do what a lot. It's very very interesting. We were so close we could hear the girls grunt as they threw the chandeliers. Love, love, love this show.
Maybe it's just me...I used to work as an aerialist in a circus in chicago and it would piss me off when there was anything else going on onstage while I was performing my act because it was like...why am i up here if you're gonna make people look away while I'm doing all my tricks? oh well...
If you're a cirque du soleil performer, then you're good enough thsat other things going on on stage don't bother you. That's what makes the performers so good. Plus, that's just the nature of pretty much every cirque show.
I totally understand you. That's one of the things I don't really like about new cirque shows. They have become more about mise en scene than presenting circus acts. There's nothing wrong with thematic presentation and strong conceptual design. I was just pointing out what pissed me off when I performed. I consider it the same as when I would perform a monologue in a play and another actor was doing something needless and distracting, behind me. The term for this is "upstaging."
Well I think that's just great. There's so much going. You don't know where to look. Perhaps that's what they want :P They want you to miss things, and then you visit the same show again ;)
I have to admit, being an old time juggler, i kinda found it annoying because while i was up front working my hands nuts with the juggling stuff. and one of my friends folk's got pictures, and when i got them, there were people performing behind me. it pissed me off.
Thanks for posting this video. It was definitely one of my favorite acts when I saw this show live.
I was really glad to see such an inspired improvement on the lyra (aerial hoop).
Was anyone else irritated by the whistler and all other idiots running around? It seemed like everytime a genuinely good act was on, these clowns (no pun intended) would distractingly run through. They should have just turn off the lights on the stage and let these lovely ladies perform.
@acrobratt This is supposed to be a dream. They were all the Clown's former loves. So they come to him in a dream and when the people run around, He is awakened by the noise.

I wish the song from the CD was the one on the DVD, especially when it gets fast.
I really wanted that on a CD, and I was disappointed when I found it was just the first part repeated on the show CD.
