  • Is that a music man? Jp?

  • Hi, can someone tell me what amp he is using. Also what kind of setup? Thanks! Thrashin' tone as Syn puts it! haha Thanks in Advanced!

  • Im not saying this is a bad thing, but how come you never use your pinky for sweeping?

  • where the hell is mrcheezelord's comment??

  • @TheCoolooS It doesn't actually exist, I just used the find tool in all comments and his comment simply does not exist.

  • andy james makes this solo look almost easy.................

  • andy please do welcome to the family solo :D

  • the motherfucking fret-walking blue band doesn't change a single shit!! andy james rocks.

  • It's good, but he doesn't use Syn's exact style...

  • @dynomite221 every guitarist is different you can imitate notes and bends etc..all you want, but what personal touch goes into the solo you can't so stop being one of those people who are you like...oh you can't play it perfect... i think its good to put your own style into someone else's solo with there notes, but a hint of your style in there.

  • Yeah thanks, I learned it flawlessly thanks to this video..

  • The blue band moves at 0:17 from first fret to open string

  • PLEASE MAKE A AVENGED SEVENFOLD PART 2 PLEASE !!!

  • I searched "easy solos to learn" to see what would come up. Then this comes up. Really youtube? This is almost like giving me Afterlife, anything dragonforce, or Yngwie Malmsteen.

  • haha I have this DVD and I just finished learning this song a couple of hours ago :)

  • NOW THIS IS PERFECT . not like bat country solo. this is same lick Syn plays it, i've look it. it's the same.

  • We need talent like that here in Huntsville! (I won't say Texas because of Dimebag Darrell.) I wish there were guitarists like those of Lick Library. I would pay very much to have lessons, and maybe I can buy some of the DVDs.

  • mmm

  • Are the tabs in the LickLibrary:How to play... Avenged Sevenfold 100% accureate? please message me back

  • @DeanHagenov Hi there we do not supply Tabs with any of the Learn To Play DVD's. Andy Jame shows you what he is playing and how he is playing it - taking you through 5 Avenged Sevenfold tracks.

  • @DeanHagenov hey dean! its billy :D

  • @DeanHagenov sounds a bit off to me

  • It's sounds like the first part is about one key down? Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I don't see what the fuss is with the band? The band is utilised during the sweeping in order to get a clean sound and mute unwanted strings, after that its not needed. It's a tuition video, Im sure Andy could play it without the band!

  • hold down space for slow motion:D

  • @logspock - It is Drop C sharp. You can tune to drop D and then tune evrything a half step lower, or tune to E flat and then tune the bottom string a whole step as you would for drop D.

  • what is the tuning?

  • damn my guitar....i dont have 22 frets

  • 666 videos...

  • @mrcheezelord Yep its an edit. Andy is very particular on making sure you can hear every note his playing as these are tuition dvds, we dropped him in on that part. Well spotted Youtubers! If you have performances of playing the solo be great to see how your all getting on with it if you've learnt it - we've opened the video responces on this video - so please submit!

  • @licklibrary

You just owned him without being a dick. I love you.

  • Only real pros make faces when they play guitar.

  • wtf its not even the right tabs. probly done by ear knowing andy

  • @gatesc1031 Naw, That justmeans the tabs are wrong :P

  • @gatesc1031 That's how he usually plays solos. It's all good though, it sounds right. Don't always stick to tabs :)

  • @mrcheezelord keeps the strings from ringing basically muting strings lol in other words he's sloppy.

  • @bigmonkeyman44 your mother is sloppy.

  • This is so fucking well done! Awesome playing bro.

  • the hair band is to mute out the strings hes not playing so theres no background hum and sometimes it helps pinches comeout a bit clearer, i saw syn use a bandana in the behind the scenes =)

  • @mrcheezelord

He only did that because he needed to play an open string at 0:18 and he cant play an open string with the "Blue band" on the neck.

  • @mrcheezelord (my assumption) it was to clean up the sweeps at the beginning of the solo for recording purposes

  • @mrcheezelord I believe it dampens the strings =)

  • the last lick is wrong i believe that no one can figuered it out 100 % correct by listening to the song is so fucking hard

  • the last lick is wrong i believe that no one can figuered it out 100 % correct by listening to the song is so fucking hard

  • @KPLUGP the last lick sounds 100% right.

  • mrcheezelord they record the vids in many bits

  • Oop he just divided by zero

  • Great cover, however the slides on the album version were missing, between 0.17 and 0.30 where he chose just to the play the notes. Ruins the flow a bit

  • @mrcheezelord he prob pushed it

  • you are wrong

  • You my man are a shredder!!!

  • Could someone please tell me what guitar he is using?

  • @RapperTapperKapper It's a music man by Ernies Ball john Petrucci special

  • @TheGuitarguy105 might just be good phrasing. wont deny that they wouldnt had used some pedals

  • perfect...

  • I hate it when people sound perfect -_-"

  • @mrcheezelord some guitarrist like this one and guthrie govan for example use those hair bands to mute the strings. the band was on the first fret until 0:18 and then he moved it up, why i don't know

  • @mrcheezelord It makes the sound more clearer and clean.

  • @mrcheezelord video has been recorded part by part? lol

  • btw, if anyone gives this guy shit for the hairband around the neck, they can suck a dick. Synyster gates uses a full cloth wrapped around the neck during his solos

  • @simpleben09 yeah because syn doesnt do a good job of muting the strings, this guy is too good for one but he used it anyways :/

  • @simpleben09 i saw him live in birmingham on a trip to music live with my college course. he didn't use a hair band live and playing everything perfect

  • @simpleben09 Well, he doesn't use it live, only in studio.

  • @mrcheezelord it was probably edited

  • tab?

  • @mrcheezelord It isn't a capo,

Its just most likely a hairband or something to stop buzz or if a string rings out on the sweeps

  • u r really good man

  • @mrcheezelord to 0:18 it was the solo part. Then it was something like a harmony.

  • @mrcheezelord obviously it was 2 recordings put together

  • @mrcheezelord

he obviously needs to play the solo in two diffrent keys.

  • @NeroGargoyl

Its a hair band that dampens the strings, not a capo.

It changes because it would of been more than one take on the song, im guessing?

  • @NeroGargoyl it's not a capo it's a hair band

  • @mrcheezelord a hair band to dampen the sound and to get rid of excess tones that you might hit with your wrist or some shit on the low e string

  • @maggot4life432 the question was that at 0:18 It moves

    Read it again lol

  • @mrcheezelord

It was recorded in more than one take, simple. :)

  • beats expert village.

  • @mrcheezelord

    capo.

    sorry for the late reply.

  • @mrcheezelord the two solo parts bleed together so would make sense to record seperately

  • @mrcheezelord

can't you see the change in camera angle ????? -.-

  • Sounds different :/

    4/5

  • @mrcheezelord hahaha good eyes man

  • this solo is almost easy.. Lol

  • i wish it was as easy as he plays it lol

  • That looks Almost Easy... loljk, looks fucking impossible.

  • @mrcheezelord Mutes the strings

  • this guy makes look easy O.o

  • Haha he couldn't play the whole thing at once so he edited himself. Check the blue band it moves from 3rd fret to 1st on 18

  • that wasn't easy at all. ;)

  • what strings does this guy use?

  • @AvengedTimes haha xD

  • @AvengedTimes if you find out let me know.

  • I gotta say, this lick library is pretty awesome, the solos might night be 100% correct but it definatelly is inspiring to see this dude ripping them and i think everyone who wants to learn a solo from their favourite bands should definatelly buy this shit :))

  • LMAO. Didn't notice untill now, psst, fucking cheater. It's so lol that some guitarists can't play clean so they cheat instead. When recording an album that's okay but this is just a fast performance

  • @bajspackare93 Licklibrary is a recording enviroment. So the hair band is right for this performance. Gives us the best possible sound when making the dvds. Same as making an album.

  • I guess it all comes down to how you define recording environment. For me, this is a cover. If someone were to put up covers on youtube with hair bands, then people wouldn't be pleased, calling him cheater. Thanks for responding

  • @licklibrary Hi there, is there any possibility of a learn to play avenged sevenfold series/season 2 dvd, which is like the harder nightmare songs, as well as like so far away or such?

  • @licklibrary Really, How does the hair band work?

  • @bajspackare93 Hardly cheating man, Hes using that hair cuase this is a tutorial dvd and wants the people learning it to be able to hear the notes as clear as possible.

Look at the full song performance if want to see him playing whitout it

  • @bajspackare93 So you're telling me, that if you put a hairband on your guitar, you suddenly gain the ability to play solos like this? No, it just sounds a bit rougher. It's not like Luke Hoskins from PTH magically gains his playing ability because there's a fucking hairband on his guitar. It just sounds better.

  • @MudTide1993 unless,of course, its a magic hairband

  • @bajspackare93 i hope you know that most of the artists use something to dampen their strings for recording? for example - Synyster Gates uses a cloth tied around his neck for solos ... look at the AVENGED SEVENFOLD MAKING OF AFTERLIFE video if you dont believe me

  • @bajspackare93 You're such an idiot.

  • @RR5Rhoads i agree

  • @bajspackare93 That and if you guys ever saw the making of the album, Syn has a bandana tied around the neck. So it works out fine.

  • @bajspackare93 its cheating? how r they cheating? is it a competition? is it making them play better? andy james is a great guitarist and can play great without it. wtf do u no?

  • any ideas on what effects should i use here/???

  • oh my god dude..perfect tone..and the most smooth and clean playing i've ever seen..and i'm not exaggerating one bit.

  • why don't you use your little finger??your playing quality would increase tenfold!

  • man how do you sweep pick like that :( i cant do it

  • @PaulStaffie

    just practice, practice xD

  • My goodness I don't know how you get the tone so perfect in every song.

  • @Timmeh98837

to get this tone its very simple, he spent a LOT of money in his gear

  • fuckin' awesome :>
