More Right wing BS spin.... Yeah at the end of the Bush years... gas was at $1.87. In the summer of 08, the price was over $4 a gallon. Can any right wing loon tell me why it dropped like a stone during the election cycle? How many oil company/refiner consolidations did Bush stop? There were 33 on his watch and he stopped NONE of them. We can also thank that traitor Phill Gramm (R) of TX for loosening the speculatory rules on Wall Street as well. Selective Amnesia on the right as usual.
@DWDave67 Definition of a loon: watching a video about how the media spins high gas prices based on who is the President and coming away from it thinking it's about who's to blame for high gas prices. You're a good little soldier.
@donsmithshow Don, you only hear what you want to hear... Bush did things that actively had a bad impact on the price of Gas. That is the difference. Obama has not invaded and occupied a country, did not abdicate anti-trust in the oil and refining racket... But is all the media... the media.... thats what the right wing loons are poor little victims of... boo hooo hooo...
@DWDave67 No offense Dave, but you’re the one assigning blame for high gas prices as a reply to a video that had absolutely nothing to do with which President is to blame. Please tell me again how I’m the one who only hears what he wants to. You folks are indeed amazing. I love that mature liberal ending as well. Awesome!
I CANT REALLY BLAME OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS A DUMB PERSON, BUT THE TRUTH IS WE (AMERICANS) ARE GOVERNED BY THIEFS, HYENAS, DISHONEST PEOPLE, EVIL PEOPLE. BEING HONEST DOESNT GET YOU ANYWHERE ANYMORE....OR HAVING A DEGREE...
@chris03653837 While it's hard to argue that society has not been going in the right direction for some time now, It's important not to lose faith in the American people, or yourself. Honesty, hard work and education will still allow you to achieve your goals. It's only impossible if you believe it is. I love your playlist by the way, it rocks! Have a great day.
He tells people what to drive, what the churches will do, what your kids will eat, cut back on vacations and the number of times you go out to eat. What is next the nimber of kids you will have, the schools they attend, what their profession will be, who they will marry....?
Castro is amazed at what the Democrats have done.
@mueygringo When his wife said "we can't just leave it up to the parents," it all became quite clear. As if it wasn't already to most that are paying attention.
@mueygringo It's your side that disallows our marriages, allows us to be fired, lose our housing, schooling etc., because of whom we love; your side trying to subject us to sectarian doctrine, & force us to pay for private schools for others. For a group that scorns a victim mentality, you never pass up an opportunity to claim victim status. OH, you're SO VICTIMIZED BY YOUR OWN CHOICES! You didn't HAVE TO believe "deficits don't matter," but you did (when it suited you).
@johnnydunmire What marriage do you want? The one with your hamster, your dog? How about NAMBLA, should we legalize their doctrines.
Housing? You mean The Affordable Housing Act the Clinton debacle or the Frank debacle. Don’t forget all those lefties lining their pockets at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae but it must be okay because they meet your agenda.
Let us not forget that Obama is now calling on all African Americans and their Churches to campaign for him. Very racist and divisive.
@VailPatriot As far as believing what is said, I listen to both parties and many sources. After the SOTU2012 - which the media & GOP got advance copies of - I didn't see or hear a single Repub say any of Obama's remarks about energy were false. Were our imports reduced 50%, or were they? Have we increased domestic production in each of the last three years or haven't we? The facts show those are true.
@VailPatriot Actually, I think the Dems are usually not all that good at messaging coordination compared to the GOP. But that's mostly because the Dems are more diverse (we have the Blue Dogs, remember - the GOP has no liberal equivalent).
@donnygoat That's an absolutely asinine comment. Let's see the full paragraphs or the names of the writers; the theme of the piece, and whether or not the writer was quoting a supporter of Obama. TIME is fully supported by heavy amounts of corporate advertising from energy concerns, banks, brokerage houses, automakers, and ALL other aspects of corporate America. And the video didn't let us hear all of her remarks.
@fw190bk1 Well, for one thing, it means more use of hybrids and plug-in electrics will mean less pollution-related deaths and lower relative gasoline prices. But we don't know WHERE ALL she was going with that because the video editor didn't let us hear the rest of remarks.
@fourxblz Yeah, we liberals are constant hypocrites and contradicting ourselves, huh? Why even bother to have two parties, then, right? Let's all just listen to the propaganda from ONE PARTY - outlaw the others - and be just one big happy fascist family so we can pat each other on the back for our clever self-congratulatory propaganda and pretend that there may be some things we're overlooking in our rush to worship profit regardless of consequence.
You atheist/humanist/socialist/communist/lefty-liberturds watch this but you still put the spin on it. HYPERINFLATION is here you lefty-liberturds(watch food prices during 2012) However you lefties will still blame GWB#43 instead of BHO#44 I know your mind-set.
Leave it to the liberal news media to tell the American public that high gas prices are great! That is unless a Republican President is in office, then there's hell to pay!
And one more thing, republicans are constantly labeling anything they disagree with as "liberal", creating what they see as a world with only two kinds of people. This is not only ignorant and closed minded but dangerous. Some groups of conservatives could even be considered hate groups
@MrShtgoose1 Oh my, not hate groups!!!! That kind of sounds like a label, what do you think? I'm sure you don't even see the massive hypocrisy in your own comment...do you? Lol.
And one more thing, republicans are constantly labeling anything they disagree with as "liberal", creating what they see as a world with only two kinds of people. This is not only ignorant and closed minded but dangerous. Some groups of conservatives could even be considered hate groups
The last 5 minutes is complete trash. The makers of film try to make the case that the media is misleading people to make Obama look better in response to high gas prices. I disagree completely. For instance, when the guy on NBC say gas prices at even above 4$ could have some potential benefits, I do not see how anyone can refute that high gas prices may have some benefits; less pollution being one example. If you want blatant misleading you will need to examine fox news.
@MrShtgoose1 So it was the last 5 minutes of the 4 minute video that you didn't like? I love you people. You simply can't make this stuff up. Awesome!
People, gas will keep going up. It will never go back down, we are past peak oil and worldwide demand is going no where but up. The only thing we really can do is drive less, conserve fuel in anyway possible, and buy efficient vehicles.
@johnnydunmire i love you to , we both know when your god b H OM shadow falls on you all your hurts will go away , just wondering why was every thing G B falt but nothing b H ob ? you know you people can't have it just your way all the time by by for now
@hopatease1 I have a god, and it's not any person on this Earth. I really don't know, hopatease1, why some people blame W for everything (even imaginary harms) and others blame O for everything (even imaginary harms). I'm just thankful I don't fall into either catagory. But thanks, just the same. And btw, seldom do I get my way. So, we're all alike in that way.
well wen bushed left office the crash of 08 had dropped $140 barrel of oil to 60 bucks or lower so thanks to bushes failed economy gas was at 1.87 so trade off great recession for 1.87 gas nice. but in 06 the peak of the housing market gas was at 3.60 so what are we talking about?? o ya china and india use huge amounts of gas but noone talks about that. im not defending obama but good lord everything is that guys fault lol
@donsmithshow DON! lol... I AM NOT "distributing blame." I merely said Bush's behavior AROUSED SUSPICION among MANY because of all his activities revolving around oil - Obama has NOT. Dems in 2006-2008 were USING that as a political football, JUST LIKE THE GOP does on this and other matters. They were POLITICAL STATEMENTS. You showed no anchors or reporters during the Bush era PAINTING BUSH as a culprit. They simply pointed cameras at Dem leaders like they do with GOP leaders.
@johnnydunmire Here's where I'm having a problem with this conversation. You keep saying things, then I respond, and then you come back and say that you didn't say it while actually saying it again. It's an impossible discussion. You listed several reasons why Bush was to blame and then said Obama has done nothing to contribute to high gas prices. Then you say you didn't say it. It's like the Obama bow that really didn't happen, even though it's on video. Read your own posts. Amazing.
@donsmithshow The only "problem" you seem to have with this conversation is that I make good points; points you don't really address. Everyone can see that I never once claimed to have not said something I did say. All you've really said in reply (to many people) is that I "didn't get it" when I did. That I said "it's all Bush's fault," when I did not. Or that I'm making your case without showing how. You're a typical propagandist.
@johnnydunmire "DON! lol... I AM NOT "distributing blame." I merely said Bush's behavior AROUSED SUSPICION among MANY because of all his activities revolving around oil - Obama has NOT."
That's worth framing! The mental disorder on display. I'm not assigning blame, but it's Bush's fault. Sweet!
@MrJMBrowning the same ones who slapped Bush in the face, are slapping Obummer on the ass, saying, 'there's nothing he can do. We just need to keep investing in companies like Ener1 and Solyndra.'' LOL
Don, NO ONE is cheering high gas prices. Are some fringe people doing it? Yes. What influence do they have? NONE. The only high-profile person I can find who's called for high gas prices is conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer (nationalreviewDOTcom/articles/224700/floor-it/charles-krauthammer), and he HASN'T CHANGED HIS MIND (dotearthDOTblogsDOTnytimesDOTcom/2011/06/24/a-conservatives-case-for-a-gas-tax/). His plan for a gas tax FLOOR with instant payroll tax deductions is pretty smart.
@johnnydunmire I really mean no offense here, but I will try one more time. The video is about how the media portrayed high prices under Bush using the same type of argument you used with the "secret meeting" and Iraq, etc. Yet under Obama, high gas prices will save lives, decrease pollution, etc. There is no secret message in the video.
@donsmithshow No offense taken, Don. "Secret message" in your video? Did I say that? FACT: Your using ONE partial remark from an unidentified non-reporter about reduced pollution deaths on ONE CBS Morning broadcast and pretending it applies to the ENTIRE NATIONAL MAINSTREAM media. Besides, morning shows are often feel-good fluff. What were anchors of NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, FOX Business or CNBC saying on their nightly telecasts? We DON'T KNOW, CAUSE YOU DIDN'T SHOW US.
@johnnydunmire You can go search and find several clips that support the one I chose. Certainly I could have made a three hour video, but then nobody would watch it. There is a wealth of information available that supports the clips in the video. I understand your need to delegitimize the clips I selected. I understand the video doesn’t fit your ideology.
@donsmithshow Apologies Don, I'm wrong on one point; Amanda Ripley IS captioned. But what you said above is a COP-OUT. You made the claim "the media" cheered high gas prices under Obama. What you showed: One local station INTRO & a chopped up item from ONE morning telecast. If it was commonplace you could've convinced me with examples of, say, Katie Couric, Brian Williams & Jim Leherer, or even some newsprint. Instead you gave two choppy bits of insignificance.
@johnnydunmire It doesn't matter what clips are used, or where they came from, you would find a way to dismiss each and every one of them. It's just who you are.
@donsmithshow Don, that's an unfair judgment of me. I don't dismiss a good case. You simply didn't make one. You used a tiny number of very selective bits; the ones during Bush showed NO MEDIA INPUT; the second part, during Obama, you showed 2 chopped up, throw-away segments - none of which praised Obama or blamed Bush. But none of what you showed is representative of general mainstream press coverage. And you know it.
@johnnydunmire Actually it's as fair as it can be, and in your typical fashion you go on to further my case with each and every post. You are an amazing individual. Have a great evening.
@donsmithshow Yes, you've said that to me & others many times, but you never specify HOW I'm furthering your case. No, my posts are furthering the case of good analytic skills - skills I've been well paid for by some of the most conservative corporate law firms that you wouldn't last at. If you had used multiple clips of reporters praising high gas prices (or praising the President for them), it would have made your video much more compelling. Problem is: THEY DON'T EXIST.
@Timd63 Cute, Tim. No, of course it's not listed. It's classified as asthma or congestive heart failure or cancer. I'm not cheering higher gas prices but this stuff is quantified - there ARE higher death rates in more heavily polluted areas. That's a fact.
Everyone agrees the largest component of the gasoline price is due to the price of oil, & and that the high price of oil is due to speculation in the futures markets.
Idiot nations privatized the citizens non-renewable resources, and those chickens have now come home to roost.
If non-renewable resource development was owned by the citizens (publicly owned via the gov't) there would be no speculation and the largest component of todays gasoline prices would be non-existent.
Obama is responsible for these high gas prices, to a degree. His energy policies are a disaster & they couldn't be worse if he tried (or maybe he did). He has done everything possible to prevent more drilling for oil either off shore or in Alaska. He killed the Keystone Pipeline (for now) & most of the federal dollars for energy programs have gone to "pie in the sky type projects" that will never produce any substantial amount of energy. The markets see this and have thus bid up the futures.
@juscurious Look fuck head, the high price of oil & therefore gasoline is primarily due to speculation on the world futures markets.
The US imports 70% of it's oil. It cannot drill enough to make up 70%, and whatever extra oil it does produce will be more than offset by the continuing rapid increase in world demand. Additionally, if there is extra oil on the world market OPEC will cut production to keep demand and prices high.
@5shoups Lol. You know they have this new thing called the internet where in just a few seconds you can actually look up factual information. In less time than it takes to make a complete fool of yourself, you can go to a site called gas buddy that will show you what it was on Jan. 20, 2009. Doh!
@laurenkaymusic Lol. The national average was $1.87 period. No offense, but the national average on the day he was innaugurated is what it is. What does the length of time have to do with anything? The national average today is the national average; regardless of what it is tomorrow or the next day. I'm sorry if the facts are inconvenient to your ideology.
I'll save everybody here a lot of vitriol and angst over debate. OIL IS PURCHASED ON THE OPEN EXCHANGE! The futures market dictates the price of oil. Consider the fact that US dollar is the world's reserve currency. Now consider how government borrows money based on future earnings. Interest still has to be paid. In comes Geitner and the printing press, ($2.2t > 2010). You now have more dollars than the economy can support. Inflation then rears it's ugly head. Money worth less, oil costs more.
@luke55664 Pretty much true. I generally support Obama over anyone who's been challenging him because they are all rather kooky. But Geitner is BAD NEWS; he's my biggest disappointment in Obama. And I hope for God sake he's gone as soon as possible. But as a dear friend & cynic recently said, Geitner is mediocre and owned by Wall St. and that's why he was given the job.
@luke55664 OH, HELL, YES, Luke. And a whole lot worse. The Fed needs to be audited and reined in to work for US, not just the big investment houses. Talk about a pipe dream.
@johnnydunmire Much less work for the federal government. The printing press is in existence to print currency at pace with economic growth, not so government can borrow against our future to purchase votes.
Repeat after me - it is GWB's fault. 3 yrs of on the job training and BO is still clueless (as are his followers aka sheeple). Remember when Al "I use enough electricity for 10 HOUSES" Gore said $5 a gal gas would be "good for the environment"? The liberal eco-wingnuts should be THRILLED. Go figure... but remember, it's GWB's fault - BO is looking for another 4 yrs where he will blame England's King George for all his screwups.
@MrRonpaulforprez He'll blame each and every greedy American that has the inclination to strive for a more prosperous life. Didn't he actually state; "Maybe it's somebody else's turn"?
And there are liberals all over the internet who with a straight face, can claim the media is not in the tank (pun intended) for the liberals in the democrat party. Astonishing.
Just think whats somes semi'ss use anybody know ? well if you get 6 lucky,, now drive some 600 plus miles per day ,,well thats 400 a day for diesel ,,farming season is starting soon ,,well those tractors etc ,,they use another 100 plus gallons each ,,,Just keeps getting passed down the line
@bweazel It just goes to show that liberalism is indeed a mental disorder. What's even funnier is that they don't even know it. Have a great day my friend.
What a piece of crap. "What are the Democrats and the administration saying now?" He didn't show ANY DEMOCRAT "now," except Obama, who DOESN'T COME ANYWHERE CLOSE to saying high gas prices are "a good thing." Gas prices were low when Obama took office because a financial catastrophe prior to his election SLASHED DEMAND. The great shock of high gas prices during the Bush years is HOW SUDDEN & HOW STEEP THEY WERE, mostly due to foreign unrest Bush was partly responsible for. What BS.
@johnnydunmire I am completely amazed at the number of liberals who can't grasp the message of the video. It has nothing to do with who's at fault; it's about how the media portrays high gas prices based on who the President is? How do you not comprehend that? It's funny that you go on to say that Bush was responsible because of foreign unrest. Have you watched the news lately? I know, I know, it's still Bush's fault. It has to be!!!!! Right? Lol.
@donsmithshow Don, I didn't miss anything. I got your point. But it simply doesn't make the case you set out. You showed a TOTAL of TWO news sources last year - one of them from an amateurish local station. You asked: "what are the Democrats and the administration saying now? If you guessed that high gas prices under Obama are somehow a good thing, give yourself a pat on the back." But NO DEMOCRAT IS SHOWN SAYING ANY SUCH THING, least of all Obama. Be honest.
@johnnydunmire I'll be sure and get your approval on all future media clips, sound fair enough? I'm sorry your rigidity doesn't allow for your comprehension of the point made in the video. If you were to set it aside for a minute, you too could see what is clear to most that have viewed the video. Based on your comment, you did indeed miss the point….again.
@donsmithshow Don, I give you credit for a very cleverly cobbled together piece of propaganda. You claim that in 2006 - a time when the economy was supposedly good - that THE MEDIA (as if it's monolithic) was reporting the destruction of America, sick & starving children and closing businesses WITHOUT SHOWING ANY SUCH BROADCAST. ALL that you showed was a recent montage edited by FOX of DEMOCRATS making statements THAT MOST AMERICANS AGREED WERE TRUE. Your case (Fox's) is not made.
@johnnydunmire First off, the video was from 10 months ago, so the montage was not recent, nor was it from Fox News. So that must be the "honesty" thing you were speaking of. I understand that your ideology demands that liberal media bias can't possibly exist. Can you name for us all the other conservative news channels aside from Fox? As a conservative, my channel has a definite conservative message (get the connection?), to you it's propaganda, to me it's reality. Again, you missed the point.
@donsmithshow "Recent" MEANS contemporaneous relative to the time you posted the video. The logo on the screen of a 2006 question to Bush (without answer), Boxer's '06 remark, Pelosi's '07, and Hillary's '06 is ALL a continuous unedited Fox News clip. That's the FULL EXTENT of your "coverage" during Bush. After a cut-away, you showed an '08 CNN clip "live" of Obama empathizing with motorists WITHOUT his placing blame on Bush or anyone else. I got your point - but it's not proved.
@johnnydunmire It's certainly ok to disagree on whether or not the point is proven. Yet once again, whether Obama or anyone else "blamed" Bush is not the point. I made the video, so I think I know what point I was making. It's about the media and how they portrayed it. You seem to think it was about so much more. Apparently a great number of people have understood and appreciated the point. The fact that some won't is a good thing to me. Makes for good discussion.
@donsmithshow "It's about the media and how they portrayed it." So, in your view, networks are taking a side by having a camera turned on? Your point - at its essence - seems to be, that BECAUSE a camera was on a Dem it means the networks ENDORSED what's being said - EVEN WHEN IT'S LIVE. The "great number" who appreciates your video "doesn't get it." Having a camera on is NOT the same thing as an endorsement.
@donsmithshow Neither Boxer in '06, Pelosi in '07, nor Obama in '08 BLAMED Bush for manipulating gas prices, which is your implication. Bush & Cheney BOTH came from oil, held 40 secret talks with the industry, deregs enabled collusion of the West Coast electricity market, and the Iraq War caused unrest and rampant speculation, and NO "comprehensive energy strategy" under Bush (as Pelosi correctly said). None of those things apply to Obama. Their suspicions were understandable.
@johnnydunmire Again, you are completely missing the point of the video. I am obviously not able to help you out there. Do you really think you know more about the purpose of a video than the person who made it? You further my case by bringing up Iraq, Bush's energy policy, Bush's "secret meetings," on and on. You actually continue to prove the point of the video with every comment. It's all Bush's fault.
@donsmithshow: I DID NOT SAY "It's all Bush's fault." That's what YOU SAY I SAID. What i DID say is "mostly due to foreign unrest Bush was PARTLY responsible for." And that is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. The WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THAT. We can also see that Obama didn't do anything to exacerbate oil prices. Bush and Obama are treated differently because we can see they BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY! Stop spinning.
@johnnydunmire Lol. So let me get this straight. It's only partly Bush's fault, yet Obama has zero responsibility today. Am I spinning again, or did you just say that? I guess you haven't heard about Iran, or about Libya. Obama had nothing to do with either right? I mean he's only the President, what could he do? I shouldn't be, but it still amazes me how you hold on to your ideology, even believing you know more about my video than I do. Incredible.
@donsmithshow Obama is to blame for Iran's behavior? WE didn't START the hostilities in Libya; with NATO, we HELPED to overthrow Gadhafi - bin Laden is dead. Obama did not whimsically invade & occupy a country the way Bush had. The FACT that Bush DID fraudulently invade Iraq is why Bush was treated more harshly. Large majorities of Americans agreed prior to 2008 that our VERY EXPENSIVE invasion and occupation of Iraq was WRONG. Obama hasn't done anything even remotely like that.
@donsmithshow I have to agree that Obama did not reflect well upon himself in that clip from 2011. But you didn't show any "media" report or commentary about that. You just added in sarcastic captions of one poor performance. Don, you really didn't show any convincing media coverage of much of anything. And the clip of '08 was Obama simply acknowledging the toughness of the situation. Is it a surprise that Obama isn't attacking the oil industry NOW? Not to me.
I am glad gas prices are soaring, I hope they keep soaring., that way it can push us towards cleaner, cheaper & higher efficient energy. Nobody is forcing you to drive. You can walk, ride a bike, use public transportation, etc..to go where you need to go. Quit complaining and whining over gas prices when nobody is forcing you to buy gas
@Apolloadama1 Good for you! I bet your mom always told you that you were special, didn't she? You can do whatever you want, ride your bike, walk, etc. This is America, land of the free. Unless you're not driving, heating your home, using electrical appliances, or using fossil fuels in any way, then you probably shouldn't tell other people what they should or shouldn’t do. But that's what you people do, it's called hypocrisy.
The budget is created at the beginning of the year by the President. Obam atook over the budtet in 2009, not when he was inaugurated. In 2009 gas prices were on average, 2.61 a gallon. They are now at 3.56 a gallon, You do the math.
They hit a top of 3.96 under Obama, but under Bush, they hit a record of 4.11, up from an average of 2.11.
They were never 1.21, but did hit a low of 1.61.So factually - 300% increase under Bush - 83% under Obama
@ninjabob42 I've done the math bob, and your "new" math just doesn't compute. I love how Bush’s budget is what caused Obama’s high gas prices. You could be right that I don’t know how that works, are we still under a Bush budget in 2012? See, I didn’t know that, lol. The bottom line here is that you are proving the point of the video, high gas prices under Bush bad, high gas prices under Obama good. When that fails, just blame Bush. You are a good little soldier.
And please show me where I said "Gas Prices are good now, yay team Obama!"
I am not defending either one, just pointing out the facts.
Although it isnt really a matter of the President, since the President doesnt control gas price. It is a matter of the oil corporations being held accountable for the prices. that is like Saying "Ahhh these socks cost 5 dollars now, and last year they were 3, the government is to blame!"
@ninjabob42 Bob - I think the problem here is that you're completely missing the point of the video. It has nothing to do with who is at fault; it shows how the media portrays it depending on who is in office. In the video high gas prices under Bush showed corruption, and were going to lead to struggles for the American people. Under Obama high gas prices are good and will actually save lives with less pollution and traffic accidents.
I like how you have shown that you dont know how budgets work. You know that Bush's budget stretches into 2009? So when the prices rose, it was still Bush's budget.
So the inaugration... that doesn't really avhe anything to do with the prices, where were they in 2009?
You dont seem to realize that gas prices rose 300% under Bush, and only rose 83% under Obama...
@ninjabob42 Gas prices are the highest they've ever been in the month of February. And your facts are so unbelievably wrong, I wouldn't even know where to begin with you. $1.86 when he was innaugurated, $4.11 now, and that's 83% in your world? Really? Nice fact checking yourself. Hey! Kool-aid!
Dear Imam Obama; How much hay do you think I can haul in a damned Volt? P.S. Hydrogen is extremely explosive! (the Hindenburg, the hydrogen bomb...your car)
@Mudcat50 Thanks for reinforcing the point of the video Einstein. Lol. Bush high gas prices bad, Obama high gas prices good. Obama is powerless, yet Bush created it. Obama - "under my policy, energy prices will necessarily skyrocket." Did you ever hear that one Einstein? You people are too much. You can't even make this stuff up.
@donsmithshow No, thank you for a fact free response. You're wrong, you DO make this stuff up. Nothing but confusing the rhetoric there Einstein. I sure didn't claim high gas price were good anywhere.
I see you avoided the dilemma presented by the high prices of today. Demand is down and productions is up. UP so much so that gas is now our #! EXPORT Einstein!
So why don't you 'splain that for us simple folk. I thought the supply/demand law worked just the opposite. Be waiting
@Mudcat50 Well, I better not keep you waiting. The fact that you were unable to comprehend the point made in the video about says it all. The video is about how the media has portrayed high gas prices based on who the President is. It has nothing to do with supply/demand, or any of the other factors you mentioned. As for you not saying it was Bush's fault, you might want to take another look at the first line of your first post. Seems to be a comprehension issue. Sorry, can't help you there.
@donsmithshow You had a point? What was it? That you complain about the price of gas depending on which party controls the presidency?
No, I didn't say it was Bush's fault. You should take your own advice on comprehension as yours is sorely lacking. Here's that 1st line : "Any of you genius's happen to remember that we were in the grips of the GREAT BUSH RECESSION in 2009?"
Which was in response to why the price had fallens so low when Obama was sworn in.
@Mudcat50 Even after twice explaining the point of the video to you, you still fail to comprehend. I don't mind debating with people in a civilized manner, but you're just looking for a fight. Sorry, not interested, life's too short. Have a great weekend.
@donsmithshow Just what I thought. When your fallacies are pointed out (e.g. your phony claim that I blamed Bush for high gas prices) suddenly you're not interested any more. When your phony claim about "my" comprehension is proven to be YOUR comprehension, suddenly you're not interested...LMAO...typical contard. If you guys couldn't lie, you couldn't post. I actually thought you might be worth the effort, but you're just another foxbot, chanting the right wingnut mantra. Have fun!
@donsmithshow - yeah, I understand your frustration. It really hurts you that I use the truth and while you have to resort to fantasy that is so easily pointed out. You sure have a funny idea about "civilized debate", but then you're a conservative, must be that inbred hypocrisy gene you folks carry.
You want to see nasty, look in a mirror pal. Again, have fun!
@Mudcat50 Sorry, I won't climb down into the sewer with you. There are far too many respectful people who actually want to discuss the issues. The fact that you have zero subscribers pretty much sums it up. We call them troll accounts. Have a great day.
@donsmithshow You don't have to climb down, that's where I found you. You do a lot of projecting. Here's the difference, I'm not looking for "subscribers" or for phony validation. I merely post my opinion, pointing out ignorant trash when I see it, which is what drew me to your postings
"We" call that independent thought, something you and your followers wouldn't know anything about. For someone who isn't "interested" you just can't help yourself can you?
@donsmithshow Sorry for your paranoia. Let's review. I point out your phony BS and unable to dispute what I said, I'm deemed "a nasty person, a troll and now a stalker". Coming from someone of your caliber, I feel honored. But then since you've proven to lack anything of substance worth saying, I suppose that's the best you can do. For someone who isn't interested you sure do a lot of name calling. Enjoy wallowing in your own filth. Oh, and have a great day!
@Mudcat50 One thing I've learned from trolls is that they keep coming back, and back, and back. The difference between us is that I actually created something, you just go from site to site leaving nasty comments and trying to pick a fight. It's what you people do. That's why you set up troll accounts. If I don't agree with something, I simply move on to something else. You "independent thinkers," (lol) just go around looking for a fight. You won't find it here. Have a great day.
@donsmithshow You got another psycho troll on your hands I see. This moron has been on here since 2006, has no videos, no friends, and no subscribers. Good thing he's not looking for validation. I can't even imagine being as pathetic as this guy. You're right, he's just looking for a fight. Great show today as always!
@rjon484 Thanks for listening to the show this morning, glad you enjoyed it. As for this guy, I'm always more than willing to discuss the facts, but he has no interest in this. When they try to tell me what my videos are "really" about, there's nothing left to discuss. It's a never ending, non-productive exchange. I feel sorry for anybody that is forced to interact with him on a daily basis, it must be pure hell. I'm quite sure that it's a very small circle though. :-)
@rjon484 If you do, then you're no better than they are. It's hard to say you stand for free speech if you block someone. At least that's the way I look at it. Thanks for the feedback as always.
@rjon484 Yeah, unlike you and don, I'm not looking for my "friends" through youtube. Call me crazy. You two should get a room and spare us the slobbering self admiration society BS.
@Mudcat50 Well then you have been very successful in that area. When someone's been on here since 2006 and has no friends, that simply proves that the person doesn't engage in reasonable debates. Any doubt that may have existed on that point has been proven by your extremely childish tactics in this thread. It’s very obvious to all why you came here.
@donsmithshow That would be a self-defining analysis. I posted my opinion, pointed out your fallacies and you can't let go. THAT would be classic troll. You created something? Oh, please...LMAO...you get in front of a camera and regurgitate right wing talking points and think you're a "creator"....LOL. I'm not looking for a fight, but you seem to be. Have a great day!
@Mudcat50 You are ill-informed. Production is up in the private sector, but on government land it is down as much as 70% in some cases. Reason there is more private land production. Supply and demand only has a small input towards pricing. Inflation plays a larger part. If you read my previous post it may shed some light. It's all about the weakened dollar and our governmental fiscal nightmare that will soon rival that of Greece. Keep waiting, and you'll be told what to do, in time.
@luke55664 Not nearly as ill-informed as you it would seem. When oil is refined it isn't broken down between private sector and "government land". Oil companies pay a royalty to the government and purchase permits for the right to the oil. Try selling that crap to don, he seems naive enough to swallow it.
Fact is, we have so much gasoline, it's our #1 export, our demand is at historic lows, yet the price keeps climbing.
@Mudcat50 Do you realize domestic oil companies are subsidized by the tax payer? The fact that oil is our #1 export is not in any way a success story. I have worked in the gulf so no point trying to educate me on the industry. Oil is our #1 export as we've lost the ability to be competitive in a global marketplace with exception to subsidized oil/energy. Once again, you are ill-informed.
@luke55664 I sure do realize they get tax subsidies When the democrats tried to stop that republicans had enough votes to prevent it. They were even supported by 12 democrats. Oil companies have a powerful lobby.
You worked in the gulf huh? Well I guess that makes you an expert beyond question. So, when did OIL become our #1 export? I've heard about gasoline and other fuels, but not oil.
@Mudcat50 OIL IS PURCHASED ON THE OPEN EXCHANGE! Now you know why price keeps climbing.
@luke55664 - In comes Geitner? The US has been printing more money than it has for decades. Tell me, is that the excuse you have for the price increases the 1970's? How about more recently in 2008?
Heres a fact you don't seem can't come to grips with. We have more gasoline than we can use. Our demand is down, our supply is up. It's up so much that refined oil (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel) are the #1 export. Now tell me why we have so much we can export it, but the price keep goint up?
@Mudcat50 The US Federal Reserve has been around since 1913 so you figure it out. Then check with your doctor about your current medication. I've told you. You just can't comprehend is all.High debt. Inflation. Weak dollar.
@luke55664 You should take your own advice on the meds. LOL anyone who makes the claim (as you did in a previous post) that oil isnow our #1 export, needs more than meds, you need counseling. But lets recap your expert opinion, first it was public sector private sector, now it's the Fed.....what's next, Bigfoot? Please, lets hear some more expert analysis. Between you and the other clown, I get my biggest laughs of the day.
@Mudcat50 That will happen when people fail to stay on point. I have no inclination to bandy words with one that cannot comprehend what they read much less what they say in their own words. You change the discussion and a different response is apportioned. By the by, it wasn't my post that oil is the US's #1 export. Sad is those without knowledge. You just haven't realized that you're the only one laughing. Most feel sorry for those like you. Myself included.
@Mudcat50 I'll give you some free information nonetheless. No need to thank me. I like the informed juxtapose the ill-informed. Top US exports are; #1>Civilian aircraft; $74b (5,7% total exports) #2>Semiconductor; $50.6b (3.9%) #3>Passenger cars; $49.6b (3.9%) #4> Pharmaceutical preparations; $40.4b (3.1%) #5 Automotive accessories; $39.9b (3.1%) #6Other industrial machines; $38.1b>(3%) #7 Fuel oil; (fastest growing)$34.9b>(2.7%) #8 Organic chemicals; $33.4b>(2.6%) Wheat not top 10.
@Mudcat50 Brilliant deduction genius! Yes, Geitner happens to be the secretary of the US Treasury. Had we this texting diatribe 3 years ago, I would have said "In comes Paulson." The fact that you focus on that, tells me there is little you understand about anything, much less a simple text conversation. Seek help.
@Mudcat50 You are ill-informed. Production is up in the private sector, but on government land it is down as much as 70% in some cases. Reason there is more private land production. Supply and demand only has a small input towards pricing. Inflation plays a larger part. If you read my previous post it may shed some light. We're being dragged into a socialistic European life style and government whether we like it or not!! Truth be told this country has the potential to be totally independent of any other nation. Food, energy, defense.. Whatever... Doesn't matter, the goal is to raise the GLOBAL standard of living. And we will pay for it. Rather our children and grandchildren will pay for it. They will sell off our corn, oil and whatever else they can. The Dems and Republicans are taking us to the same place.. Ju

DWDave67 7 hours ago
@DWDave67 Definition of a loon: watching a video about how the media spins high gas prices based on who is the President and coming away from it thinking it's about who's to blame for high gas prices. You're a good little soldier.
donsmithshow 7 hours ago
@donsmithshow Don, you only hear what you want to hear... Bush did things that actively had a bad impact on the price of Gas. That is the difference. Obama has not invaded and occupied a country, did not abdicate anti-trust in the oil and refining racket... But is all the media... the media.... thats what the right wing loons are poor little victims of... boo hooo hooo...
DWDave67 7 hours ago
@DWDave67 No offense Dave, but you’re the one assigning blame for high gas prices as a reply to a video that had absolutely nothing to do with which President is to blame. Please tell me again how I’m the one who only hears what he wants to. You folks are indeed amazing. I love that mature liberal ending as well. Awesome!

The facts show those are true.
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@VailPatriot Actually, I think the Dems are usually not all that good at messaging coordination compared to the GOP. But that's mostly because the Dems are more diverse (we have the Blue Dogs, remember - the GOP has no liberal equivalent).
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@Spiderrancher Thank you, Spider-guy. So true.
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@donnygoat That's an absolutely asinine comment. Let's see the full paragraphs or the names of the writers; the theme of the piece, and whether or not the writer was quoting a supporter of Obama. TIME is fully supported by heavy amounts of corporate advertising from energy concerns, banks, brokerage houses, automakers, and ALL other aspects of corporate America. And the video didn't let us hear all of her remarks.
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@fw190bk1 Well, for one thing, it means more use of hybrids and plug-in electrics will mean less pollution-related deaths and lower relative gasoline prices. But we don't know WHERE ALL she was going with that because the video editor didn't let us hear the rest of remarks.
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@fourxblz Yeah, we liberals are constant hypocrites and contradicting ourselves, huh? Why even bother to have two parties, then, right? Let's all just listen to the propaganda from ONE PARTY - outlaw the others - and be just one big happy fascist family so we can pat each other on the back for our clever self-congratulatory propaganda and pretend that there may be some things we're overlooking in our rush to worship profit regardless of consequence.

If you want blatant misleading you will need to examine fox news.

renzoat24 2 days ago
@donsmithshow DON! lol... I AM NOT "distributing blame." I merely said Bush's behavior AROUSED SUSPICION among MANY because of all his activities revolving around oil - Obama has NOT. Dems in 2006-2008 were USING that as a political football, JUST LIKE THE GOP does on this and other matters. They were POLITICAL STATEMENTS. You showed no anchors or reporters during the Bush era PAINTING BUSH as a culprit. They simply pointed cameras at Dem leaders like they do with GOP leaders.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire Here's where I'm having a problem with this conversation. You keep saying things, then I respond, and then you come back and say that you didn't say it while actually saying it again. It's an impossible discussion. You listed several reasons why Bush was to blame and then said Obama has done nothing to contribute to high gas prices. Then you say you didn't say it. It's like the Obama bow that really didn't happen, even though it's on video. Read your own posts. Amazing.
donsmithshow 2 days ago
@donsmithshow The only "problem" you seem to have with this conversation is that I make good points; points you don't really address. Everyone can see that I never once claimed to have not said something I did say. All you've really said in reply (to many people) is that I "didn't get it" when I did. That I said "it's all Bush's fault," when I did not. Or that I'm making your case without showing how. You're a typical propagandist.

His plan for a gas tax FLOOR with instant payroll tax deductions is pretty smart.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire I really mean no offense here, but I will try one more time. The video is about how the media portrayed high prices under Bush using the same type of argument you used with the "secret meeting" and Iraq, etc. Yet under Obama, high gas prices will save lives, decrease pollution, etc. There is no secret message in the video.
donsmithshow 3 days ago
@donsmithshow No offense taken, Don. "Secret message" in your video? Did I say that? FACT: Your using ONE partial remark from an unidentified non-reporter about reduced pollution deaths on ONE CBS Morning broadcast and pretending it applies to the ENTIRE NATIONAL MAINSTREAM media. Besides, morning shows are often feel-good fluff. What were anchors of NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, FOX Business or CNBC saying on their nightly telecasts? We DON'T KNOW, CAUSE YOU DIDN'T SHOW US.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire You can go search and find several clips that support the one I chose. Certainly I could have made a three hour video, but then nobody would watch it. There is a wealth of information available that supports the clips in the video. I understand your need to delegitimize the clips I selected. I understand the video doesn’t fit your ideology.
donsmithshow 2 days ago
@donsmithshow Apologies Don, I'm wrong on one point; Amanda Ripley IS captioned. But what you said above is a COP-OUT. You made the claim "the media" cheered high gas prices under Obama. What you showed: One local station INTRO & a chopped up item from ONE morning telecast. If it was commonplace you could've convinced me with examples of, say, Katie Couric, Brian Williams & Jim Leherer, or even some newsprint. Instead you gave two choppy bits of insignificance.
johnnydunmire 2 days ago
@johnnydunmire It doesn't matter what clips are used, or where they came from, you would find a way to dismiss each and every one of them. It's just who you are.
donsmithshow 2 days ago
@donsmithshow Don, that's an unfair judgment of me. I don't dismiss a good case. You simply didn't make one. You used a tiny number of very selective bits; the ones during Bush showed NO MEDIA INPUT; the second part, during Obama, you showed 2 chopped up, throw-away segments - none of which praised Obama or blamed Bush. But none of what you showed is representative of general mainstream press coverage. And you know it.
johnnydunmire 2 days ago
@johnnydunmire Actually it's as fair as it can be, and in your typical fashion you go on to further my case with each and every post. You are an amazing individual. Have a great evening.
donsmithshow 2 days ago
@donsmithshow Yes, you've said that to me & others many times, but you never specify HOW I'm furthering your case. No, my posts are furthering the case of good analytic skills - skills I've been well paid for by some of the most conservative corporate law firms that you wouldn't last at. If you had used multiple clips of reporters praising high gas prices (or praising the President for them), it would have made your video much more compelling. Problem is: THEY DON'T EXIST.

Gas prices at $3.00 a gallon I would be happy af in this day and age...
GabeHudson16 3 days ago
Everyone agrees the largest component of the gasoline price is due to the price of oil, & and that the high price of oil is due to speculation in the futures markets.
Idiot nations privatized the citizens non-renewable resources, and those chickens have now come home to roost.
If non-renewable resource development was owned by the citizens (publicly owned via the gov't) there would be no speculation and the largest component of todays gasoline prices would be non-existent.
megarational 3 days ago
Elect Newt Gingrich. He promises $2 per gallon gasoline.
Har har har har har.
megarational 3 days ago
Obama is responsible for these high gas prices, to a degree. His energy policies are a disaster & they couldn't be worse if he tried (or maybe he did). He has done everything possible to prevent more drilling for oil either off shore or in Alaska. He killed the Keystone Pipeline (for now) & most of the federal dollars for energy programs have gone to "pie in the sky type projects" that will never produce any substantial amount of energy. The markets see this and have thus bid up the futures.
juscurious 3 days ago
@juscurious Oh for fuck's sake. Will you quit parroting Republican lies and do some research.
megarational 3 days ago 2
@juscurious Look fuck head, the high price of oil & therefore gasoline is primarily due to speculation on the world futures markets.
The US imports 70% of it's oil. It cannot drill enough to make up 70%, and whatever extra oil it does produce will be more than offset by the continuing rapid increase in world demand. Additionally, if there is extra oil on the world market OPEC will cut production to keep demand and prices high.
Fuckhead, crawl out of the Fox bubble.

What BS.
johnnydunmire 5 days ago
@johnnydunmire I am completely amazed at the number of liberals who can't grasp the message of the video. It has nothing to do with who's at fault; it's about how the media portrays high gas prices based on who the President is? How do you not comprehend that? It's funny that you go on to say that Bush was responsible because of foreign unrest. Have you watched the news lately? I know, I know, it's still Bush's fault. It has to be!!!!! Right? Lol.
donsmithshow 5 days ago 9
@donsmithshow Don, I didn't miss anything. I got your point. But it simply doesn't make the case you set out. You showed a TOTAL of TWO news sources last year - one of them from an amateurish local station. You asked: "what are the Democrats and the administration saying now? If you guessed that high gas prices under Obama are somehow a good thing, give yourself a pat on the back." But NO DEMOCRAT IS SHOWN SAYING ANY SUCH THING, least of all Obama. Be honest.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire I'll be sure and get your approval on all future media clips, sound fair enough? I'm sorry your rigidity doesn't allow for your comprehension of the point made in the video. If you were to set it aside for a minute, you too could see what is clear to most that have viewed the video. Based on your comment, you did indeed miss the point….again.
donsmithshow 3 days ago
@donsmithshow Don, I give you credit for a very cleverly cobbled together piece of propaganda. You claim that in 2006 - a time when the economy was supposedly good - that THE MEDIA (as if it's monolithic) was reporting the destruction of America, sick & starving children and closing businesses WITHOUT SHOWING ANY SUCH BROADCAST. ALL that you showed was a recent montage edited by FOX of DEMOCRATS making statements THAT MOST AMERICANS AGREED WERE TRUE. Your case (Fox's) is not made.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire First off, the video was from 10 months ago, so the montage was not recent, nor was it from Fox News. So that must be the "honesty" thing you were speaking of. I understand that your ideology demands that liberal media bias can't possibly exist. Can you name for us all the other conservative news channels aside from Fox? As a conservative, my channel has a definite conservative message (get the connection?), to you it's propaganda, to me it's reality. Again, you missed the point.
donsmithshow 3 days ago
@donsmithshow "Recent" MEANS contemporaneous relative to the time you posted the video. The logo on the screen of a 2006 question to Bush (without answer), Boxer's '06 remark, Pelosi's '07, and Hillary's '06 is ALL a continuous unedited Fox News clip. That's the FULL EXTENT of your "coverage" during Bush. After a cut-away, you showed an '08 CNN clip "live" of Obama empathizing with motorists WITHOUT his placing blame on Bush or anyone else. I got your point - but it's not proved.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire It's certainly ok to disagree on whether or not the point is proven. Yet once again, whether Obama or anyone else "blamed" Bush is not the point. I made the video, so I think I know what point I was making. It's about the media and how they portrayed it. You seem to think it was about so much more. Apparently a great number of people have understood and appreciated the point. The fact that some won't is a good thing to me. Makes for good discussion.
donsmithshow 3 days ago
@donsmithshow "It's about the media and how they portrayed it." So, in your view, networks are taking a side by having a camera turned on? Your point - at its essence - seems to be, that BECAUSE a camera was on a Dem it means the networks ENDORSED what's being said - EVEN WHEN IT'S LIVE. The "great number" who appreciates your video "doesn't get it." Having a camera on is NOT the same thing as an endorsement.
johnnydunmire 1 day ago
@donsmithshow Neither Boxer in '06, Pelosi in '07, nor Obama in '08 BLAMED Bush for manipulating gas prices, which is your implication. Bush & Cheney BOTH came from oil, held 40 secret talks with the industry, deregs enabled collusion of the West Coast electricity market, and the Iraq War caused unrest and rampant speculation, and NO "comprehensive energy strategy" under Bush (as Pelosi correctly said). None of those things apply to Obama. Their suspicions were understandable.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago 2
@johnnydunmire Again, you are completely missing the point of the video. I am obviously not able to help you out there. Do you really think you know more about the purpose of a video than the person who made it? You further my case by bringing up Iraq, Bush's energy policy, Bush's "secret meetings," on and on. You actually continue to prove the point of the video with every comment. It's all Bush's fault.
donsmithshow 3 days ago
@donsmithshow: I DID NOT SAY "It's all Bush's fault." That's what YOU SAY I SAID. What i DID say is "mostly due to foreign unrest Bush was PARTLY responsible for." And that is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. The WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THAT. We can also see that Obama didn't do anything to exacerbate oil prices. Bush and Obama are treated differently because we can see they BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY! Stop spinning.
johnnydunmire 3 days ago
@johnnydunmire Lol. So let me get this straight. It's only partly Bush's fault, yet Obama has zero responsibility today. Am I spinning again, or did you just say that? I guess you haven't heard about Iran, or about Libya. Obama had nothing to do with either right? I mean he's only the President, what could he do? I shouldn't be, but it still amazes me how you hold on to your ideology, even believing you know more about my video than I do. Incredible.
donsmithshow 3 days ago

Apolloadama1 5 days ago
@Apolloadama1 Good for you! I bet your mom always told you that you were special, didn't she? You can do whatever you want, ride your bike, walk, etc. This is America, land of the free. Unless you're not driving, heating your home, using electrical appliances, or using fossil fuels in any way, then you probably shouldn't tell other people what they should or shouldn’t do. But that's what you people do, it's called hypocrisy.
donsmithshow 5 days ago 3
If you go to gassbuddy, you can see the trends.
They were never 1.21, but did hit a low of 1.61.So factually - 300% increase under Bush - 83% under Obama
ninjabob42 5 days ago
@ninjabob42 I've done the math bob, and your "new" math just doesn't compute. I love how Bush’s budget is what caused Obama’s high gas prices. You could be right that I don’t know how that works, are we still under a Bush budget in 2012? See, I didn’t know that, lol. The bottom line here is that you are proving the point of the video, high gas prices under Bush bad, high gas prices under Obama good. When that fails, just blame Bush. You are a good little soldier.
donsmithshow 5 days ago
@donsmithshow It's not new math, it is simple math.
And please show me where I said "Gas Prices are good now, yay team Obama!"
I am not defending either one, just pointing out the facts.
Although it isnt really a matter of the President, since the President doesnt control gas price. It is a matter of the oil corporations being held accountable for the prices. that is like Saying "Ahhh these socks cost 5 dollars now, and last year they were 3, the government is to blame!"
ninjabob42 5 days ago
@ninjabob42 Bob - I think the problem here is that you're completely missing the point of the video. It has nothing to do with who is at fault; it shows how the media portrays it depending on who is in office. In the video high gas prices under Bush showed corruption, and were going to lead to struggles for the American people. Under Obama high gas prices are good and will actually save lives with less pollution and traffic accidents.
donsmithshow 5 days ago
I like how you have shown that you dont know how budgets work. You know that Bush's budget stretches into 2009? So when the prices rose, it was still Bush's budget.
So the inaugration... that doesn't really avhe anything to do with the prices, where were they in 2009?
You dont seem to realize that gas prices rose 300% under Bush, and only rose 83% under Obama...
Yay for fact checking...
ninjabob42 5 days ago
@ninjabob42 And gas prices are still lower now than they were under Bush which topped $4.11 a gallon
ninjabob42 5 days ago
@ninjabob42 Gas prices are the highest they've ever been in the month of February. And your facts are so unbelievably wrong, I wouldn't even know where to begin with you. $1.86 when he was innaugurated, $4.11 now, and that's 83% in your world? Really? Nice fact checking yourself. Hey! Kool-aid!

Any of you genius's happen to remember that we were in the grips of the GREAT BUSH RECESSION in 2009?
BTW, which one of you Einsteins want to explain the law of supply and demand as it relates to our current gasoline prices?
The demand is down, for many reasons, but down even for this time of year by 7%.
The supply is obviously up, because our #1 export is now refined oil (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel)
So why is the price rising?
Oil company/speculator greed, plain and simple.
Mudcat50 5 days ago
@Mudcat50 Thanks for reinforcing the point of the video Einstein. Lol. Bush high gas prices bad, Obama high gas prices good. Obama is powerless, yet Bush created it. Obama - "under my policy, energy prices will necessarily skyrocket." Did you ever hear that one Einstein? You people are too much. You can't even make this stuff up.
donsmithshow 5 days ago
@donsmithshow No, thank you for a fact free response. You're wrong, you DO make this stuff up. Nothing but confusing the rhetoric there Einstein. I sure didn't claim high gas price were good anywhere.
I see you avoided the dilemma presented by the high prices of today. Demand is down and productions is up. UP so much so that gas is now our #! EXPORT Einstein!
So why don't you 'splain that for us simple folk. I thought the supply/demand law worked just the opposite. Be waiting
Mudcat50 5 days ago
@Mudcat50 Well, I better not keep you waiting. The fact that you were unable to comprehend the point made in the video about says it all. The video is about how the media has portrayed high gas prices based on who the President is. It has nothing to do with supply/demand, or any of the other factors you mentioned. As for you not saying it was Bush's fault, you might want to take another look at the first line of your first post. Seems to be a comprehension issue. Sorry, can't help you there.
donsmithshow 5 days ago
@donsmithshow You had a point? What was it? That you complain about the price of gas depending on which party controls the presidency?
No, I didn't say it was Bush's fault. You should take your own advice on comprehension as yours is sorely lacking. Here's that 1st line : "Any of you genius's happen to remember that we were in the grips of the GREAT BUSH RECESSION in 2009?"
Which was in response to why the price had fallens so low when Obama was sworn in.
Try to keep up will ya?

@Mudcat50 You are ill-informed. Production is up in the private sector, but on government land it is down as much as 70% in some cases. Reason there is more private land production. Supply and demand only has a small input towards pricing. Inflation plays a larger part. If you read my previous post it may shed some light. It's all about the weakened dollar and our governmental fiscal nightmare that will soon rival that of Greece. Keep waiting, and you'll be told what to do, in time.
luke55664 5 days ago
@luke55664 Not nearly as ill-informed as you it would seem. When oil is refined it isn't broken down between private sector and "government land". Oil companies pay a royalty to the government and purchase permits for the right to the oil. Try selling that crap to don, he seems naive enough to swallow it.
Fact is, we have so much gasoline, it's our #1 export, our demand is at historic lows, yet the price keeps climbing.
Mudcat50 3 days ago
@Mudcat50 Do you realize domestic oil companies are subsidized by the tax payer? The fact that oil is our #1 export is not in any way a success story. I have worked in the gulf so no point trying to educate me on the industry. Oil is our #1 export as we've lost the ability to be competitive in a global marketplace with exception to subsidized oil/energy. Once again, you are ill-informed.
luke55664 3 days ago
@luke55664 I sure do realize they get tax subsidies When the democrats tried to stop that republicans had enough votes to prevent it. They were even supported by 12 democrats. Oil companies have a powerful lobby.
You worked in the gulf huh? Well I guess that makes you an expert beyond question. So, when did OIL become our #1 export? I've heard about gasoline and other fuels, but not oil.
Mudcat50 2 days ago
@Mudcat50 OIL IS PURCHASED ON THE OPEN EXCHANGE! Now you know why price keeps climbing.
luke55664 3 days ago
@luke55664 - In comes Geitner? The US has been printing more money than it has for decades. Tell me, is that the excuse you have for the price increases the 1970's? How about more recently in 2008?
Heres a fact you don't seem can't come to grips with. We have more gasoline than we can use. Our demand is down, our supply is up. It's up so much that refined oil (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel) are the #1 export. Now tell me why we have so much we can export it, but the price keep goint up?
