ur a tad stupid, r u telling me u like the sound of all accents equally? he was expressig his preference, a mild scottish accent is one of the nicer ones u get, just like people say scouse and brummie accents are horrible. expressing an opinion, nuthn wrong with that. women like tall, dark man generally, spanish, italians etc, did they choose to be born that way? no but they still get complimented and its not condescending at all, its nice.

i never said i like all accent equally, i was saying that i dont find it essential to tell everyone that i enjoy the sound of their voice, and i dont understand why people do it, it's weird and awkward, not what i consider a compliment. i love scouse accents, but i wudn't go up to a scoucer and be like "omg i love your accent!!"

I tell folks I like their accents. This guy from Texas came into my work and I LOVED his accent, I told him so and he graciously said thank you. Its no big deal. People have told me that as well. I take it as a compliment. but I guess some people don't see it that way. I'm a bit more laid back about things.

if thas how u see itt hen cool, but the reason it pisses me off is because its not laid back. it's annoying, and it's ridiculously patronising. there's nothing laid back about making comments about the way you act or behave when they don't know you.

I'm confused. at first you said its patronizing when people compliment your accent; saying they tell you they like it. now you are saying they make comments as in mean comments? Are they making mean comments or are they saying nasty things, cause if they're saying " I like your accent", dude, there's worst things in the world to be upset about. Letting little comments about liking your accent get to you is not good for your blood pressure, its such a petty thing to get up in arms about.
