I was not even aware of this version on Cameo until recently--it is a slightly shortened version of the same arrangement they did on Edison that I've known of for decades and was my favorite. I was lucky to get a nice copy off eBay from a dealer selling a huge collection of Cameos.
What a great recording! Red Nichols' solid lead on cornet and dig Adrian Rollini's breaks on the bass sax! Jimmy Dorsey on alto and Miff Mole's trombone also contribute some nice breaks on this tune. Fantastic!
There was a Charleston mania in Russia in the early 1980s(last days of Brezhnev). Radio Moscow shortwave used to play Russian charlestons to show how uptodate Soviet pop culture was.
Grzegorz, I'm thrilled that the CELEBRATION is continuing. You sure know how to throw a party. I love this CHARLESTON! I'm filling my flask and then I have to get those silver dancing shoes and my beaded flapper frock. I'll be there in about an hour. Save a dance for me. :-)
I have this record. Cameo Records.

This sounds like early Dixieland to me.

It amazes me how these ladies managed to be so adept - especially wearing these high heels.
Can't help thinking that there must have been more than a few twisted ankles during this craze! Must have been great fun though.
Love this posting.
Thank you.

If you're a serious Charleston dancer, you are not supposed to have your heels on the ground, anyway - so maybe high heels might even help?

Precisely the shot of caffeine I need to get through the day; jaunty, perky, especially lively in black & white. Neat transition at 2:54 or so.

Nice abstractions in the video accompaniment.
