  • Will this also help to fix the Three Red Rings?

  • will rubbing alcohol work?

  • lawl i just tryed that.. it didnt work i dont think haha i will try something else than a Q tip though hold on...

  • what you did to the 4 chips that come with tape ?

did you put the penny trick ?

  • SO, AFTER YOU CLEAN THOSE PARTS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT ALL THE PARTS BACK TOGETHER THEN YOURE DONE? OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I HAVE TO APPLY?

  • @PaulPierceFan365 You apply thermal paste on the cpu and gpu then over heat it for like 5 mins so it comes incontact and it should work

  • Comment removed

  • with out thermal compound the cpu and gpu will just heat up in seconds.

  • Should be using lint free cloth for this, coffee filters instead of paper towels.. and the actual QTIP brand qtips, not cotton qtips.

  • @UOGSammich you're wrong.

  • @walmer23 If you don't want to use lint-free products on your electronic hardware that's your prerogative. Enjoy the permanent burn-in and poor contact on the thermal compound the residue will cause. But for the rest of us, who follow directions and common sense, we'll stick with the lint-free stuff.

  • @UOGSammich dude, ive been doing this for years and never had any problems out of lint.... O.o

  • I removed my xclips and there was hardly any thermal paste on the cpus or heatsinks. MIcrosoft are criminals!

  • @enigmaticbee Mine was smothered in it. It was overflowing onto the board around the chips.

  • @enigmaticbee

Then they probably did it right. Less is more when it comes to thermal paste. It's the pressure of the heatsink against the chip that counts for more. If you have too much paste you'll just be making a mess around the edges with no extra benefit.

  • razorblade takes the TIM off the Heatsinks like scraping a layer of room temperature butter off.

  • @Jakebell58 i have a wii. didn't rate down the video! wii sports +plus is win.

  • @XxWifeyMcBeatyxX ...what are you talking about? lol. respond to the wrong comment?

  • Comment removed

  • @xxbrkdwnxx Sorry about that, that was kinda weird how it replied to your comment.

  • fucktard, at 2:12 you broke and ripped off one of the little squares on the side of the GPU, no surprise since you did put on you the CPU heatsink sideways on your RROD "repair" video

  • @TheBL00DAssassin it was a chunk of thermal compound lol

  • @Veksta ahh yeah, now that i look at it, it's thermal paste

  • very good guide. ill be fixing mine here in couple weeks when i finally get time to fix it lol.

  • Lol thank you- someone who doesn't put up obnoxious RATM music while trying to explain what to do.

  • I'm fixing to clean my laptop CPU, thanks for this guide. Using the same stuff once it arrives, and I take it that getting the cpu/gpu all wet with this stuff isn't going to damage anything right?

  • so is it the actual heatsink melting, or that glue they use to put down the heatsink? And if its glue, do we need to put more glue on it to put it back?

  • I can put "PC CPU" heatsink on xbox 360? and Xbox 360 slim?

  • not sure what kind of gum u chew....but the kind i use doesn't dissolve in my mouth :D

  • how i fixed mine:

    1. open the xbox

    2. get a fan

    3. place fan direct to the heat sinks

    4. Play xbox and be happy

  • where can i buy this compound

  • @KG125912

radio shack or online. its cheaper online.

    look for arctic silver 5

  • @bloodygoon09 this did not work for me

  • i have working 2006 old clamps 360. Should I redo thermal or don't fix what's not broken?

bought cheap 360 with dvd read error as only problem.

Full of dust and grim on board.

also is fine glass polish recommended for dvd lens?

  • would alcahale work?

  • @ericngo77 yes i think so...

  • A jobs to congratulate!

  • Great job!

  • i love the video but its too complicated can u make a video from cleaning it from scratch

  • Had rrod and did complete dismantle removed old thermal paste cleaned then reapplied new thermal paste to gpu and CPU. Turned on and still rrod "general hw failure". So stuck 2 precision screwdrivers onto fans and let overheat 10 min until rrod "overheat" 2 lights appeared. Let cool down. And now working?! Didn't do X-support kit fix. Don't know if I'm lucky or what but can't wait to play Duke Nukem Forever.

  • Good video but i cant tell where any of these places i need to clean are on the xbox. You should have showed us where they are one the xbox before cleaning.

  • My Uncle is a manager of Fry's electronics. Haha lol :D

  • 5:16 lol!

  • His link redirects you to a very reputable and FUN poker website where you can win money without spending money, definitely not a scam. Great guides TripAces, found them to be a ton of help when fixing my xbox, only thing I would say is that you can use Goo Gone and then 91% isopropyl alcohol ($3 together at any grocery store) and get the job done just as well, if not better, and for cheaper. Just make sure you clean up all of the Goo Gone with the ipa or you could run into problems.

  • 3:50 thats what she said lol

  • how much is it for the thermal paste apporoxamitly

  • wow thats some good stuff! Arctic silver 5 is the best!

  • @Kevinkoch2443 That`s just not true.I C Diamond is way better.

Arctic silver is maybe the best known paste and it`s probably why people like yourself always refer to it.

  • @JooHaxDemoTaken what would you recommend to use

  • @trumanbeast99 The stuff i mentioned..I C Diamond...Either 7 carat or 24 carat. They also have the advantage that they aren`t electrically conductive so any accidental spillage wont short something out.

  • @JooHaxDemoTaken

Diamond pastes are like new stuff to consumers though. When all our old tubes of AS5 run out we'll all be on diamond pastes ;)

  • wat does that do

  • guys if your xbox 360 gets too warm just buy a air conditioner only for xbox 360 at cdon.com its cheap and it makes your xbox cold i have one and i love it <3

  • how long does that last.... like how long will it be for the red rings to come back

  • @analicia101 if u do it right, shouldnt come back

  • my xbox will turn off if i play a game. usually when the graphics get intense would doing this fix it?

  • can i clean it with hot water? or the thing that they use to clean the paint from the finger nails?

  • @nikospneuma1 u cant use that copound dont get off that ez u can use the remover or u can also use isopropyl alcohol

  • where can we buy a fuckn heat sink ,,,, damm all these videos telll u how to do it, but not where to get the fuckn stupdi ass componenets,, whick is the primier point , where to find this shit, and dont tell me staqples radioshack , cause they aint got shit

  • @junior1984able have you tried ebay?

  • @StupidTankProduction yes homie,,,

  • I got a question can I use the sillicon heat sink compound or is there a different between theme

  • @Godryu17 no u cant man ok silver compound

  • in a perfect world (at least in the PC world) you wouldnt want to get any of that shit on your motherboard or the circuit board for your GPU

  • call me an idiot but i used go be gone...

  • @CpGamer9786 It did for me! I also did the penny trick too!

  • @CpGamer9786 YES

  • will this arctic 5 compound give me lower temps on the GPU and CPU?

  • @setarcos4131 yep

  • will rubbing alcohol work instead of the thermal compound remover

  • @evan12345 yes

  • Fucking microsoft puts on fail thermal paste. :D

  • @eTnKT have you seen the thermal paste on a ps3? i have its no different

  • Comment removed

  • should i replace the x-clamps or just use it

  • what is Heat Sinks and what does the thermal compound do? it wont hurt my 360 ?

  • @WaPow132 if u dont put the thermal compund on it will hurt ur 360

  • does this solve the e 74 problem?

  • The cleaner solution touching the the whole unit the (the green chip) to remove the thermal compound on the outer part of the chip won't hurt the 360?

  • Cool stuff, i recently opened my Xbox 360 and cleaned the GPU and CPU of the older thermal compound and added my own Arctic Alumina cooling paste, will that lower the temperature compared to the stock paste that was applied at the factory? I think i experienced higher FPS and better flow in the games after that proceedure. Whaddya think?

  • what store can you buy thermal paste please help enyone ?????????????

  • I KGB this and they said it should be available at a radio shack

  • @robertgpc buy it at radishack artic silver 10 ask for that

  • so i have the E74 error. so i replaced the x clamps... the instructions i was using said after i do so plug in and let overheat. then 2 lights should appear. well i only had 1 light. stupidly i turned off and turned it back on... (this was to re-remove the dvd player. as i stupidly thought this might be the cause. then the xbox worked!! but only for a day. now i have E74. any ideas? overheat again? or do i needa do the thermal paste thing again too?

  • alcohol works too but it will take a lot longer.

  • WD 40 does the job great

  • I want to thank you for this guide it helped me to fix my xbox.

  • Can you use something other than Artic clean????

  • WD40

  • do you have to add more thermal compound after you have removed the bad 1

  • @Beatlesfan46 Yes you do.

  • i know i commented before but you guys helped me after i did these steps witch was last month it worked until i earned my replacement one cant thank you guys enough =)

  • thanks it worked/...

  • @14DarkMatt15 motherboards aren't going to break over littel stuff unlea you scratch the small wires

  • Are you wearing a your camera?

  • Will the 2nd generation heatsinks work on first gen 360s?

  • Comment removed

  • @Creamo223 yes

  • a cloth works better.

    that just gets cotton everware

  • god dam there is so many "thats what she said" joke in this vid

  • just keep rubbin it till its all off

  • @loser9110 Thats what she said XD

  • when u do this try not to touch the q tip to the motherboard

  • man i did all of this. Worked for awhile. Now my xbox just over heats with 2 red rings when nothing is hot. Dont know how to fix it.

  • googone works just as good

  • what the hell was that?sound 4:06

  • kan you use like super glue or something instead of artic stuff cuz cant get any around here and my xbox is already taken apart please reply really fast like

  • No...and don't try it or your 360 will overheat in an instant...

  • dont work

  • yes

  • hahah yeah. Really there is no chance on the old systems, just complete failure.

  • hey, I don't know where I can get a thermal adhesive remover thingy, do you think I can use like nail polish remover or sth instead? or would that totally ruin the xbox? pls help me fast, I need to play assassin's creed 2 :(((

  • Why does this work, why is this what needs to be done? I'm not questioning whether it does or not - someone asked me what was wrong with their xbox and i didnt know, i just knew to tell them what to do...so why is this what needs doing?

  • I dont know why, but some of the old Thermal compound isnt coming off the tiny chips by gpu and cpu. I have most cleaned out, except for a small amount i cant get out. Will this affect it at all? I have the cpu and gpu all cleanedoff.

  • So I cleaned off the thermal compound (Although I didn't use cleaner like you did) then I put some new thermal comp. back on (It was "ACME" white stuff from fry's, not arctic silver) and my 3 lights were still flashing when I put everything back together and turned it on. So should I now go through the steps to reset it (Like you showed in 1 of your other vids)?

I will redo the whole process if I have to, I want my 360 back! I haven't played in weeks and I'm "Jonesin"!

  • you got to do the towel trick after you put it together

  • u should use the penny trick for the 3 red lights thats a guarntee fix. just type in XBOX 360 PENNY TRICK i did it and it works

  • Thnx! Looks like I'm buyin myself a new one for christmas tho...I managed to break a tiny little chip off my motherboard! After much swearing (& browsing online for xbox MB's) I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get a new 1. I WILL say this though: My 360 ran fine 4 years with an intercooler, and died about a month after my intercooler died. So, does anyone know if the newest systems are still problematic? Mine had the improved heatsink, but I don't know if the new ones are still even better....

  • Get an Xbox with the Jasper system in it. They are supposed to be designed to eliminate the chance of getting RROD

  • The Jasper system? How can I tell?

  • If you buy a new system, it says it on the box. Jasper decreases the chance of rrod.

  • K Thnx!

  • power brick(search) 09+

  • Yup, got one, it runs a LOT cooler, thanks....

  • where do i get this stuff ? the Arctic Silver Thermal Compound cleaner

  • wait, isn't the thermal paste have to stay there? i mean that have to protect the GPU to not heat so much or u have to change it after some time?

  • can i use something else instead Arctic Silver Thermal Compound cleaner? Anyway great video,i hope i can fix my stupid E74

  • did u ever fix your e-74 problem because i got the same shit

  • is this e73 please get back to me ASAP

  • ok i have 1 red light and when the av cord isnt plugged in it has no rings but as soon as i plug it in it gets the rings what does that mean

  • lemme guess... Xbox 360 Elite BAM!!!

  • will this work for 2 red lights on Xbox (overheating)?

  • What stuff? It is Arctic Silver Thermal Compound cleaner.

  • wat that stuff

  • It's no scam... it's free!!! Just go there and you can see. Please leave a comment once you see it's not a scam. Thanks!!!

  • @TripAcesFull whats free

  • You're a pretty cool guy, thanks for puting all of these tutorials on. I have yet to go to your poker site though because I fear it is some sort of scam.
