  • I'm gonna make a sandwich. When I come back, this better be the top fucking comment.

  • hipster shit

  • I could listen to jack saying "my sister thanks you and I thank you" all day long

  • charley patton's tune

  • I want to see Meg's face when he says that she will happy...

  • This KICKS ASS !!!! :0 LOVE IT!

  • damn a shame I'll never be able to see them live again. Then I'll have to listen to the dead weather and the raconteurs... which is awesome as well .

  • @LLarSSable atleast you get to use the word AGAIN in that sentence :(

  • @VARTANAPER323 crap, that's a mistake in my sentence I have never seen them in my life.

  • @ridusofthetonedeaf

Did you really tell jack white to quit? He's so successful because he didn't quit. He's still making amazing music, because people love his sound. Get over it man. He's amazing. I how many albums have you made?

  • Jack gives me a horn in my pants

  • Lacey doesn't like this song, and doesn't know why this is greatness. Thumbs up if you think that Lacey has lost her mind!

  • damn shes moody or what lol

  • Jacky White

  • So gutted I got into the stripes too late for awesome live shows like this. I was so excited for their 2007 UK tour... gutted they cancelled. Gotta see jack white in some form in my life!

  • Simply sublime........why is not recorded,Jacky boy?

  • @macrae1985 Because it is a cover.

  • @Cooki3st I know that. How do you think the Beatles made their name.....ripping off the likes of Chuck Berry!

  • The boll weevil is a type of beetle that bores into the boll of the cotton plant and destroys it .

  • me and my sister... lol what a lie

  • @culturevulture123 You are a fail, sir. He calls her sister as a nickname.

  • @culturevulture123 well, it's complicated. When they were married, Jack Gillis took her last name "White." and when they divorced, he kept the last name so they went on saying they were brother and sister.

  • Hey I got a spare room if he's looking for a home.

  • what is a boll weevil, is it like a grounghog or woodchuck.

  • @april101988 It's a type of beetle.

  • @april101988 A bug of some sort, I think.

  • @TheDaybreak94 I, don't think so, sucks does'nt it, Oh well.

  • @TheDaybreak94 Listen to the Leadbelly version. Also really good.

  • @RichandAbi have done, and yea it sure is ;D

  • @TheDaybreak94 As far as i know it was never released on any of the albums. It was only played as the last song of the night while in concert.

  • @Chalkie2000

Oh, wow. Your right. My bad. Dunno how I got that wrong. :P

  • This is when they were saying they were siblings, lol

  • Boll weevill is already a less crappy song by the presidents of the united states of america

  • @usadrumhead I think it was already a song before they released one with the same name. I think it beat them by a hundred years or so ;-)

  • @usadrumhead I love both bands and both Boll Weevil songs

  • I came across this song one time when I was just looking for a home.

  • I think that's a PLASTIC guitar. He talks about it in that documentary with The Edge and Jimmy Page.

  • @pitbull103

Yessir I do believe it is an Airline, cheap plastic guitars Sears manufactured way back when. They have a distinct sound. If you've ever listened to Billy Bragg, you can hear im using one too.

  • Happy. ''He was lookin' for a home!'' ''Just lookin' for a home!''

  • Please come to Galveston Texas and play the Strand. I,m begging you Meg and Jack. and I don,t beg to offten.

  • Leadbelly's grandson... its gotta be!

  • Does anyone have the tabs for this song?

  • the best live i ever heard since led zeppelin..amazing...no words to describe the feelings of this powerfull gig...god bless white stripes...

  • All decent mopdern bands appreciate Rockabilly - Check out this song - it was an Eddie Cochran Song.. true [ not Jackie Whgite - aguitar picker from oklahoma city)

    Mikery xx

  • Who thinks he should record this in the studio and release on his next CD?! Thumbs up!?

  • @steven8807 They never made a next CD :(

  • Perfection!

  • If only it was the PUSA song, haha =P that would be awesome, this is still awesome

  • Meg gives me a hard on like all hell ................so hot and beautiful

  • I love this song. Hey you treat me just like a man and I'll have a home.

  • man was i disappointed to find this wasn't the presidents of the usa's boll weevil.

  • man was i disappointed to find this wasn't the presidents of the usa's boll weevil.

  • @IBG67 hah then I guess you don't have a good taste in music because these guys will teaar you apart anyday bud. smd

  • @IBG67 this whole performance should give you a big hint tht the white stripes dont suck jackass, if you think its bcuz there "too simple" then your wrong, tht doesnt matter, there called MINIMALISTS and they DONT beleive in doing anything fancy, they just flatout go out and perform and everybodies happy, the white stripes own

  • @shit311

Do you eat cooch? Just curious. Write back lol

  • actual goosebumps. It's the crown singalong. So awesome!

  • Meg was playing too fast when the drums come in on the first chorus haha

  • @kapnzach So what tho. It doesn't need to be perfect ... and it's better when it's not

  • God i love this song, i just wish i could find it on mp3. "you tell 'em it was Jacky White, he's done been here and gone" awesome

  • I wish they still played this.

  • "lord knows meg will be happy!"

  • @dirtycoffee22 My brother is the biggest White Stripes fan EVER. And we saw them in Berkeley in 2004. We got there several hours early to get very front row. We were able to stand right in front of Jack. They played the Boll Weevil song, but Jack left out the Meg verse and my brother got so mad- he climbed partway up the baracade and yelled at Jack "AND LORD KNOWS MEG WILL BE HAPPY!!!" Hahahaha. My brother- the only person to ever correct Jack White in concert. :]

  • It's amazing how different his voice sounds from performance to performance.

  • @uncoolbeans

Im so glad you just said that. Me and my buddy always talk about how thats the funniest thing ever. Listen to the song Rag and Bone on Icky Thump.

  • I'm happy :)

  • I love how he speaks for Meg.

  • I know! i love it, and meg is so cute because she is so shy. Jack knows that she prefers not to speak in interviews and shows.

  • 3:12....now that was the fastest goodbye in rock history

  • Short but so Damn sweet

  • i seen them on this tour and it was fucking swish!

  • Comment removed

  • Swish, that's a word i've not heard for a while:)

  • Fuck - it's great to hear such a modern band do a really old Eddie Cochran song - yes guys - check out the boll weevil song by eddie cochran you'll be amazed.#

    Mikey xx

  • It's actually a Huddie Leadbelly song from 1934. But yes, Cochran's version is awesome.

  • i like lead bellys boll weevil song.

  • It's funny that he says "Me and my sister" cause I actually thought it was some media-blown thing, that they should be related, based on some loose rumors. (I know their not, and you probably can't tell me much I don't know 'bout these guys)

  • meg looks like an ordinary woman in pics but in this dvd, the way she moves on stage is soooo sexy sometimes

  • hahaha yea yea

  • love the song:)

  • I like it!

  • No, Leadbelly.

  • if i ever see jack white, i will thank him with all my heart for the covers he plays. without him the odds of me finding robert johnson, blind willie mctell, leadbelly, and the rest of the blues legends would be much more slim.

  • @whitestripebuzz

If I ever see him, I'm gonna thank him for that fiber-optic Jesus that he gave me.

  • @whitestripebuzz dnt forget son house

  • @whitestripebuzz well said bro... ;)

  • @whitestripebuzz Howlin' Wolf, Son House - those two you should mention! :P

  • @whitestripebuzz relatively high i'd think. i never listened to him and i found all of them first.

  • @whitestripebuzz look up t bone walker. dude's off the fuckin chain. george thorogood too.

  • lEDBELLY :)

  • it's traditional, nice try though.

  • its really just one of those songs that no one is sure were it comes from i think charley patton had the first commercial version but it depends on whatever version you listen to cause different artists have added there own lyrics through time

  • indeed its been sang and recorded by loads of musicians, and all have a different way, style, and lyrics. (including the name of it) I do know that I really enjoyed this version and glad it exists at all. It was a perfect end to this DVD.....

  • i was under the impression it was a slave song that first appeared when huddie ledbetter did a version

  • Actually, it was Charlie Patton first.

  • so was leadbelly singing in the background or something eh no im afraid that genius has been dead for damn near 60 years so none of them in the audience ever had this song sang to them by leadbelly they had it sang to them ny "jackie white" why you have to try and be a know it all smartass and not just enjoy the song dude im sick of these guys on here

  • thats so funny!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • leadbelly didn't sing the song to them though, jack did

  • Comment removed

  • hooch is crazy

  • the problem with that is this is an american folk song who the creator is unknown so Leadbelly didn't write it either so shove that in you pipe and smoke it smart ass

  • It's what made Clapton lock himself in his bathroom for a year to master the guitar. Great art itself pretty much happens when brilliant fucks have huge egos so it's not ego itself that is the poison, it's UNRESTRAINED ego and that's obviously not what this is. Plus everything always looks bad ass and before too long I was diggin' the whole "eccentric British blues wizard" thing. So overall, the bells and whistles enhance the experience.

  • But not much more so than, say, Cobain's "Wombs and Fetuses" motif that Nirvana used all the time. And, I'd wager, a damn sight less so than Ziggy Stardust. But even if alot of it is ego-driven, so what? What's ego besides one of the purest, most basic human emotions. And a pillar of the blues. Most love songs are really about ego. Most love for that matter. Ego is what made Lennon and McCartney keep trying to top each other. I

  • Their ornamentation (the clothes, the "set design", the look of the instruments, the videos, the stage-patter) all seems to

fit into some meta-concept that you don't understand but are convinced couldn't possibly be just a jerk-off. It's gotta mean

something, all that shit. And I don't even need to know what it is because these two clearly do. Maybe you could call it a little pretentious. I think you definitely could.

  • It's just a non-musical part of the performance like that red/white shit. Fuckin' showbiz, babe. I like it. Alot of these bands nowadays are hung up on a kind of "it's all about the music" type ethos. And I get that, of course. A reaction against the times and all. But the Stripes' extra-sonic presentation carries an air of confidence; an intelligent design. They're clearly aware there's no danger of them coming off like Panic at the Disco.

  • White's delivery seems extremely affected when he's talking. But I always just assume it's some kind of genius shit that he's doing and I should stop being critical and just dig it. At first it can put you off a little, that this guy is making a personality statement about himself that's nothing to do with music. But if you just give him a chance and let him do his thing you start to feel like his intentions are pure: it's all part of the show.

  • Those dirty boll weevils better find another home

  • I need a tan now (Ehem', jack)

because i listen to White stripes, Dylan, Zeppelin & so forth.

I like how he gets involved with meg which makes the crowd roar, Along with their Artsy Music.

  • "Thank you very much for being you, I suppose, wherever you are."

This seemed so profound the first time I heard it

  • similar thing happened to me. Thought he said "whoever you are" the first time i heard it and my mind was blown.

  • The reason why he said that is because someone was fuckin' with him when he was performing...especially in "Jolen." They were talking shit when he was playing. Listen closely to the audience!

  • @steven8807 the reason he said what?

  • First off gotta say I love The White Stripes. I also must ask, is it just me or does he talk very similarly to Mitch Hedburg?

  • Jackson A. Rag

  • Great song!

  • "This last verse is about me... And I'm sorry for that." Hahaha

  • CAN'T believe this amazing show & dvd is already 5 years old!! They GOTTA make another one!!!

  • awsome, got this DVD, its just amazing :)

  • i'm sorry man, jack's already married, he's not gay/bi ;( ;D.

  • I looveeeee this

  • I wish they would do an album of just old blues covers. I love them. My favorite, though, is Death Letter

  • indeed, death letter @ blackpool... man that opening solo rules!

  • you're gay along with your whole family including any pets you happen to have or ever will get

  • alot of guys probablly wish that!

  • i would go gay for jack

  • same im sorry but he's just the fucking sex

  • It is a Leadbelly

  • Doing an old Brooke Benton tune...who'dve thunk it.

  • Leadbelly, you mean?

  • It's traditional. I doubt we know who originally wrote it; it's a folk/blues standard

  • It was Blind Lemon Jefferson.

  • RE-POST MADE CLICK SEARCH

    I love how much interaction he has with Meg and talks about her during Boll Weevil;

    0:48 ALRIGHT MEG!

1:46 ALRIGHT MEG ITS FULL OF 'OLES! (lol)

2:21 I hope everyone here will sing along with me, and my "sister".

3:13 My "sister and I thank you good night.

LOL..I like his little speech about the people and being themselves what did he say?

OH AND I WANT Meg's PANTS; THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE AWESOMEST PANTS EVER!

2:31..and LORD knows MEG will be happy (lol)

    2:51 HOLD ON MEG

  • OK, so that didn't work!!

    LAST TRY!!!!

    00:48

    01:46

    02:21

    02:31

    02:51

    03:13

Try that. I think we missed the other Zero's out. Anyway here's the Whole Meg thing, as posted by "iluvjackwhitemost" originally!

  • Fuck it!

  • it worked both times..

  • Meg looks so alone at 2:51.

  • about the people he says something like "thank you for being here, and being yourselves, i suppose, whoever you are"

  • With this whole "They are sister & Brother!" and "His name is Ian Gillan" thing, you get just a tiny weeny sample of what its like to be in a popular band, and misquoted, misrepresented and misunderstood, for much of the time. Imagine the crap they have to field on a daily basis!

This is the WRONG PLACE to come for reliable info on any band or artist. Having said that, many web sites are almost as bad too!

  • Ya they are divorced and his real name is john anthony gillis. He changed it to jack white when he married meg.

  • John Anthony Gillis??? That really doesn't sound like person who would sing in The White Stripes. More like somekind guy who works in some boring office.

  • his parents were from nova scotia(where i live yay!) . And in nova scotia John gillis is a very common name.

  • Im not mad on the middle name Anthony

but Gillis is a pretty cool last name !

  • ok meg is his ex wife but they split up and they didnt want people to know they split up so they said they were sister and brother!

  • No, Buckey. She isn't.

  • Wrong, they were married, then got divorced. the brother sister act has been just an act the whole time, before and after they got divorced.

  • sorry about that

  • he has a tad bit of an accent... although i do believe he is American. Maybe its because his wife is British and they live in England?

I do not know.. anyone know? *or am i the only one who detects an accent....

anyways.. love them both very dearly :)

  • he is from detroit. but he is in england so maybe he has been there for a while and he picked up bit of an accent

  • LMAO ... oh really? He has a peculiar accent - and either he is really trying (and failing) to sound British, or he's trying (and failing) to hide his own accent. In either case, he should just give it up.

  • i think he was just trying to come across sort of childlike maybe and robotic? he doesn't sound british but maybe he was trying to sound more anglophied?

  • Its a southern accent

  • He uses that accent sometimes while talking to the press and just randomly. In a raconteur interview he actually uses his real voice.Or what I think to be that anyway...

  • He was also in the middle of a tour. I doubt his voice sounded very normal at all around that time.

  • He did have a bit of an accent, but he's from Detroit, so, I'm thinking a mid-west accent. My hubby's from Michigan, and there are similarities.

His wife is English, from Oldham, but they live in Nashville.

I'm sure this was recorded before he met Karen, also- I could be wrong-

    Yes, adore them both!

  • My sister...Oh, MY thats hilarious. Yeah, I want Megs pants too. Not necessarily THOSE pants. Any pair will do.
