Just bought the same guitar today. It sounds so much better than the Martin of similar price. The only slight drawback is that it doesn't have a built in tuner, but the sound is incredible.
So how much did you pay for the guitar if you don't mind me asking. ? And do you think $1200 is a good price for a used one? Someone I know is selling one(410ce 2008 model) in really good shape. Thanks and very good demo. Blessings
@twoormoremusic hi! yes i payed roughly $1500 for it i believe and thats with all that free stuff. $1200 is an incredible deal, hoping it comes with the case too ;) and as long as you said the guitar is in great condition you should definitely consider getting that :) thanks for watching!
I guess you use light gauge strings for the GA? I always feel like I'm cheating when I play my electric, lol...like I need to go back to my dread to keep everything up to par. It literally feels like an electric?
Should I save the extra 200 for Taylor 414ce or go for the Taylor 314ce is there much of a sound diff or should I just play it for myself to figure out
@Legend1885 Hi I would personally ;) and that's what I did :) Looks play a role also... as yourself if you like the wood better on a 314 vs. 414 and the binding white(414) vs. black(314) ...but in the end play both and see which one sounds better to your ears :)
I've tried one but haven't bought just too much out of my price range sadly. Beautiful guitar though. I wanted to walk out of the store with it. Nice video.
NIce review. I love my 414ce. Here's a tip for you: When you take your guitar out of it's case to play it, close the lid on the case to keep the humidity inside it.
@LesPaulMarshallDave Actually...I would have thought the same thing but in fact, when I bought my Taylor 414ce, there was a letter put out by Taylor recommending that you leave the case open while playing your guitar so that the case and the guitar will be at the same humidity level at all times. Go figure! But yeah..I was surprised when I read the info sheet.
ya um if u play electric it has a thiner neck all the way and if u use this it has a thiner neck at the end of it but it gets wider when u move up on the frets. so it not the same as an elctric. i play electric acoustic and bass . and im in a band.
@ohbhitter Hello! I'm glad you enjoy the guitar as much as I do! and congrats on a great purchase heheh and thanks so much my pleasure to do this review you too enjoy the guitar! and happy birthday btw :)
hey nice guitar! it looks very similar to my 214ce that i got as a gift for my birthday! so i cant complain haha. i cant go a day without playing, very smooth. Take it easy, and happy playing!
I have one of these and I really love it. Seriously the best acoustic I've ever played. Definitely ever owned. The fretboard is nice and wide. great for picking and arpeggios. I did see one at Guitar center. I got mine at an Acoustic Shop near where I live. They have all High end Acoustic Guitars, Mandolins, banjos and other gear.
Congrats on the guitar man...you've had it for a year!
@markadiculous thanks man....I'm glad you feel just as grateful and amazed to own this guitar as I am!!! :) and of course u have to take care of a well made acoustic like this one! I hope we can both own more Taylors in the future! :)
@lliicckk I knew that, I also know the 4 stands for sitka/ovangkol and the 14 stands for grand auditorium. =P
Anyhow, I'm pretty sure they aren't available in stores, so I probably have to order one from a local store that carries Taylor guitars. I only want it if I can save a couple of hundred bucks, of course! Thanks anyway!
yeah the best buy next to me does in St. Louis. they are all over. I got my DX1r Martin from them and it ended up costing me a hundred dollars less than guitar center. Check it out
@ CarsonsGuitarLesson Hey man yeah they are all set up with GREAT action right of the factory so you should expect to see it in ALL Taylor guitars.... =]
@CarsonsGuitarLesson that great news! =] You will not doubt it and it will last you a lifetime! I'm glad this review helped you. Enjoy your new guitar!!
@lliicckk hey man, me agian, i just gotta thank you for doing this review, it convinced me to get the 414ce and i have had it or a few weeks and LOVE IT, thank you agian
you should try nanoweb elixers moreso than the polywebs. i remember completely switching over because i remember playing along side a friend and noticing there was big difference in tone. and realizing it was the strings. but other than that, good video! i have a 214ce myself :D taylor<3
I am trying to decide between the 114ce and the 214ce, I am curious to know if you think that the difference between the two is significant enough to pay $150 extra for the 214ce. Great Video, thanks
@guitardude6262 Well the difference is really in the woods... 114ce is sapele, which sounds a lot like mahogany (defines the midrange). The 214ce is rosewood, which defines the bass and treble and drops the mids out some. In the long-run I think the 214ce would be a better choice.
lol well u know its true...only if a person in real life says your "ugly" is when you should find it offensive...
but on the internet and stuff you never really know what someone is saying...its funny when someone has an online comment argument hehe....probably the only exception to that would be on forums but yeah you know what I mean??
Well, with the difference in body sizie and shape, it will definitely sound completely different. More projection and low end, big throaty mids, but this one will be more balanced and more sensitive to small changes in your playing.
I'm thinking of buying this guitar. I'm also thinking about just spending the extra money and buying a 714ce. You think it's worth it? Or should I stick with the 414?
it really depends on the SOUND you are looking for ...and what your budget is.....the 714ce will give you a deeper, warmer sound because of its CEDAR top with less volume...while othe SPRUCE top guitars will give you that punchy, clear sound....I chose the 414ce because it was within my budget and it sounded the next best thing to an 814ce....teh 714ce however is excellent and they are both WORTH the money. Go try out each guitar and see which one sounds the best to your ears!!! =)
do not "think" about it any longer and with new phosphor bronze strings on it....well lets just say it competes with higher end taylors at a lower price!!!
well it is all personal opinion...so here is mine =)
personally the best sounding taylors that are not too crazy expensive are the GS series. I just love the bold full sound they give out which I love....but for some it is still pretty expensive in the $2,000's range
but under that price range the 314ce and the 414ce models are the best for me under that price range for tone!
Had my 414CE for 8 yrs. Love the sound and a dream to play live. Disappointed in the longevity. Just lost a fret dot and the plastic binding on the body has worn away! Even if I'm a busy player which I'm not compared to some, I didn't expect that1
wow really? I'm really surprised to hear that....well you have had it for over 8 years....maybe the building process has changed a bit over that time?? IDK but i'm sorry that happened to yours...
Well I hope in years to come my Taylor will be able to play live despite the wear and tear it might receive.
i live in india,,, am a singer guitarist ,, I was looking to buy this exact same model ,,, we do get taylor guitars here in india ,,, but they are overprised (almost double the price) ,,, i have my cousins who live in kankakee / illinois. they have no knowledge of music or guitars .. I never buy an acoustic guitar unless i have played it myself ,,, ( i play atleast 4 units of the same model and pick the best one).
To cut to the chase , i am considering buying one from the U.S. and my cousin can get it to india next month. Only wondering which is the best place to buy it from ,,, and how to ensure that i get a good instrument ,,,
