They could of done so much more in this scene. Vegeta should of snapped and turned SS2 or maybe SS3 just for kicks. After a episode of powering up, he would beat the living shit out of Cell where they would have to ban it from TV because of grotesque violence. Every punch explodes Cell's head and Cell continually regrows it. After the 5th time, Cell starts to cry. It takes all the dbz gang to stop Vegeta while he screams like a maniac. Krillin tells Cell to run. Ultimate defeat.

The only reason they didn't make Vegeta go SSJ2 in this and beat Cell is because the whole point of this Saga was to show Gohan's hidden power unleashed and so become the hero. Although saying that, I really wouldn't have minded if Vegeta transformed here and became the hero...it would make sense and finally allow Vegeta to be the hero and prove himself as one of the good guys. I always hated how they never let Vegeta have his moment - always gets owned ever since he was first introduced.

what I dont get is why Cell braces himself for Vegeta's attack when it just looks like a normal energy wave. He's meant to be near the level of a SSJ2 here, and I would have gotten it if Vegeta had used the final flash on him.........then again its only Vegeta that manages to take him off guard and give Gohan the advantage to kill him in the kamehameha battle

nobody asked gohan to save anyone....Vegeta told him the same thing when he was fighting Recoome..!! Instead of going after vegeta...he shudve gone after Recoome (or in this case cell)....

@kanthasingh54 Actually, Dying is a big thing. Before the Buu saga the rule was that someone could only be brought back to life once. Goku just died a second time. Had DBZ ended with Cell, Goku would have remained dead.
@dasetman Thats only with a single set of dragonballs, thats how limited their power is. Goku was wished back one by the original Shenron created by Kami which was destroyed when Kami and Piccolo became their original form again. He was never brought back by the Shenron created by Dendai or Parunga on Namek. This is yet another inconsistancy of the series.

Yeah but that hit shouldn't have hurt him in the first place, the fact that it did so much meant cell was significantly stronger than him in that state. It wasn't until Goku convinced Gohan to let go that he was at full power, and even then cell had the advantage, Vegeta saved the day in this one.

Not true, look at the fight between goku and frieza, goku literally lets frieza(half power) hit him with his death beam and he gets barely burned. The reason gohan got hurt was because the blast was a lot stronger than he thought it would be.
In "powered up" states, there is a minimum amount of Ki needed to do damage, that applies irregardless of whether or not it is blocked directly. As SJJ2 gohan should have been able to take a Ki beam destined to kill a completely drained SSJ1 easily. Just as CELL was able to take all those hits from super vegeta when he got into his perfect form. The fact that he got injured means cell's beam was a lot more powerful than he thought.

When Gohan lost his arm he stated this he lost half of his power and that was still enough to match Cell's power just barley meaning at full power Gohan would of still beat SPC rather easily, so Cell's attack should'nt of even hurt Gohan but due to plot holes it did. It's just like when Piccolo used masenko against Cell, It did jack shit because Cell was stronger so the same thing should of happened here.

unfortunately the only tactic that logically makes sense in the entirety of dragon ball z failed. if they blast the shit out of their enemies at the start there would have been no pointless deathes in the series except for the villains. but then again that would make for an uninteresting program.
people forget that it's vegeta's fault cell even became perfect, not to mention that he's killed hundred, maybe even thousands of people in his past. him not becoming the warrior he always wanted to be is probably his comeuppance for all the shit he did in the past. it would have been nice if he killed buu though...

Guys, Transforming to SSJ2 isn't just about emotion, it's also about technique. Gohan was able to go SSJ2, not just because of his hidden strength, but because of the fact that Him and Goku had trained in a way in which they basically lived in their SSJ form so they were fully comfortable with it and were able to ascend to the next level. Where-as Vegeta and Trunk simply did the typical: live in normal form, and only transform when there's a fight.
Vegeta deserved much better, this scene proves he deserved a win in one of the sagas, not to mention his sacrifice in the buu saga was in vein, vegeta has easily had some of the most epic scenes in this series, yet he never had a moment to rise above the rest...
Epic moment here..vegeta finally develops some humanity and feelings..woulda been boss if he woulda gone ss2 here from his son being killed...but gohans boner was too important

@kanthasingh54 Actually, Dying is a big thing. Before the Buu saga the rule was that someone could only be brought back to life once. Goku just died a second time. Had DBZ ended with Cell, Goku would have remained dead.

Goku was wished back one by the original Shenron created by Kami which was destroyed when Kami and Piccolo became their original form again. He was never brought back by the Shenron created by Dendai or Parunga on Namek. This is yet another inconsistancy of the series.

Yeah but that hit shouldn't have hurt him in the first place, the fact that it did so much meant cell was significantly stronger than him in that state. It wasn't until Goku convinced Gohan to let go that he was at full power, and even then cell had the advantage, Vegeta saved the day in this one.

I agree that Vegeta saved the day there, at least in a way, seeing as it was his fault that it was that bad in the first place. Gohan, before he got injured was still more powerful than 'super perfect cell.' It's too bad Vegeta gets shafted, like the only main character to never kill a villian...

Not true, look at the fight between goku and frieza, goku literally lets frieza(half power) hit him with his death beam and he gets barely burned. The reason gohan got hurt was because the blast was a lot stronger than he thought it would be.

In "powered up" states, there is a minimum amount of Ki needed to do damage, that applies irregardless of whether or not it is blocked directly. As SJJ2 gohan should have been able to take a Ki beam destined to kill a completely drained SSJ1 easily. Just as CELL was able to take all those hits from super vegeta when he got into his perfect form. The fact that he got injured means cell's beam was a lot more powerful than he thought.

When Gohan lost his arm he stated this he lost half of his power and that was still enough to match Cell's power just barley meaning at full power Gohan would of still beat SPC rather easily, so Cell's attack should'nt of even hurt Gohan but due to plot holes it did. It's just like when Piccolo used masenko against Cell, It did jack shit because Cell was stronger so the same thing should of happened here.

Vegeta should have went SSJ2 & killed Cell.. As the series went on it seemed like Vegeta fell off.. His very first fight with Goku was great.. Vegeta seemed unbeatable in that battle.. He wouldn't give up at all.. As DBZ went on he seemed more easy to quit & it leaned on Goku for everything basically

Guys, Transforming to SSJ2 isn't just about emotion, it's also about technique. Gohan was able to go SSJ2, not just because of his hidden strength, but because of the fact that Him and Goku had trained in a way in which they basically lived in their SSJ form so they were fully comfortable with it and were able to ascend to the next level. Where-as Vegeta and Trunk simply did the typical: live in normal form, and only transform when there's a fight.
