  • i agree with eteune and happyguy we do look funny in thoose clothes, and we can practice in other clothing, but is a form of paying respects to thoose who found it, i recomend breaking your paradigma and go practice someting, by the way i practice aikido, aikijutsu, karate do and muay thai and i am not asian nor american

  • @rx2j

    Well said.

  • i dont know why, but non asian people look ridiculous trying to do asian stuff.

  • Are you saying that because somebody has brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes, can´t practice any form of martial art? that is ridiculous. You don´t have to be asian to practice karate as you don´t have to be either african american to rap, dance, compite in a 100 meters sprint. U should change your Nick to racistguy20

  • It is only called an "art" when you achieve beauty and perfection.

That is not a question of race, but a matter of history and culture.

for example, I think that all american look better doing kickboxing than karate.

  • I think you are too attached to your ideas and preconceived stereotypes. But because of people like you, many years ago, farmers, slaves and people who wasn´t suppose to know anything about weapons and combat, ended up developing what we all know today as Martial arts. You just keep talking about LOOKS and appearance and that is so wrong.

  • you give me good advice. maybe i should be more open minded. some things become funny.

anyhow, you should learn history of war training.

  • I actually know what he means. It looks incongruous, that's all. Like white people in kimono.

It was a throwaway comment, I think you're taking it too seriously.

  • I sort of see your point (Asians look bad doing rap, and bellydancing seems to be reserved for Arabs) but a lot of that simply has to do with not wanting to venture outside what your brain is used to. For example -- kickboxing is Thai. Why would any American look good kickboxing? 'Cause you've watched fighting shows. If you grew up watching white guys do judo, you would think Asians look dumb doing it. Chinese may look silly playing violin but many are fucking good at it. Get used to it.

  • Kickboxing is not Thai. There is a great difference between Muay Thai and Western Kickboxing.

  • @germanpaino well... in case of rap and sprint you are unfortunatly wrong... Black people are better sprinters becouse of their stature and that is connectet with genes. Rap simply sounds much better when black man sings... But dont treat me like racist, i just said what i think....

  • @BuffaloSoldierPL Well that IS racism. And if somebody says something that is racist, it would mean they ARE racist.

We're going to treat you like the ignorant fool you are, and you should know that nobody will value your opinion, as you are wrong.

As for the case of rap, Eminem is one of teh greatest rappers of all time, and has argueably done the most for rap.

  • @danfrost313 Yeah right. Let me ask. If i am racist, ignorant fool... who are you? The thing with music is that you dont have to like same types of music as I do. And its beautiful =). You can like Eminem, and i dont have to... Besides... he is just one guy. And exception proves the rule. So he can sing good (as he do) and this doesnt change a thing.

  • *shrug a dojo full of white guys is a little weird but they should get respect for the effort put into it imo. its alot better than what the typical american does...(sits on a bean bag chair naked eating cheetohs off their chest while watching basic cable)

  • hey, wait a minute, what's wrong with Cheeto's on the beer belly?? (notice I gave proper upper case 'C' to show proper respect to the the Cheeto).

Personally I would like to see western people in glasses practicing iaido without the skirts. Can sword skills not be learned in other clothing?

  • It would be like playing bagpipes without a kilt.

Some of the most manly things can only be done properly while wearing womens clothing. haha

  • Typical American? Typical human more like. Almost the only ones who are not like that are because they have no food at all.

  • @HARKENSCYLD

    They are German..

Half the comments on this clip borders Racism.

Now that is scary,Racism in Martial Arts.

  • They get an 'A' for effort? Are you fucking serious? An American that has studied Kung Fu for five years in China can walk into any room back in the States and have an easy confidence that he can take any person in that room. Im not gonna say that Kenjutsu translates directly into your average street fight, but those guys from the video have so much power and control its scary.

  • -_- im a practitioner of both kendo and kenjutsu, you have no need to explain this to me. it was a lighthearted comment that was supposed to be a joke lol

  • i think here's seitei katas because of reiho and way of sitting seiza. here's also one kata from muso shinden ryu (inyoshintai kae waza) but i'm not sure in 100% ;p

  • This is shinden ryu.

  • Nice video but I think it is Muso Shinden not Jikiden as I practice Muso Jikiden and I noticed some difference in Mae of stepping forward in the second cut. However, this is just a guess from my end

  • looks like it could be either Shinden or Eishin ryu......?

  • Looks A LOT like Muso Jikiden Eishin

  • hmmmm yes i should have noticed the straight shoulders more carefully. i like the diversity in our school. do you know if these guys are affiliated with the Zen Nihon Iaido Renmei or with the Kendo Renmei?

  • Well...um, there website says Ichi ryu Kai, now that doesn't necessarily mean that's their discipline, but from browsing it thoroughly, I saw no mention of any prominent members of MJE ryu or mention of the ZNIR or KR. *shrugs*

  • Yeah, that dojo could eat mine, lol. Cool vid! You really do need a big room with a mirror...

  • Nice Dojo

  • the last samurai is a good film to inspire u. you need to understnad its more than just waving around a sword its much harder to do that people may think its a mentle disaplin.

  • totally agreed :)

  • Excellent environment. I especially like the mirror, it allows you to see you own mistakes when performing iaido. That is how I got better, I practiced with a large mirror in the room.

  • very nice
