I don't mean this in any negative way, but AIC isn't grunge (I say this with AIC being my favorite band of all time). They're hard rock/metal. The Melvins, Buzzcocks, Skin Yard, Green River, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Mother Love Bone...THAT's grunge. Nirvana is punk/noise rock, Soundgarden is like AIC, Pearl Jam is alternative/punk (although there are some grungy songs on their first 2 or 3 albums).

There's only one AiC. Jerry should have just kept going with his solo career. It's like Queen trying to do a new album and keep going without Freddie. At least they didn't...they had the decency to call that little bit they did "Queen + Paul Rogers", indicating that he was just a guest. Layne WAS AiC, and his voice will always be missed. One of my fav. bands growing up.

Nah man Layne and Jerry voice goes so well together. Plus has a lot of emotion and kick ass drums and guitar. All you dope feins are bumps aic could not tour cause the dope problem. Not my prob my opinion. Face lift is my fav album i dont compare the grunge bands it was a hard time for a lot of people why you think the music from then is so powerful. I'm the greatest AIC fan you've ever come into contact with son, interesting how after Staley died solo Jerry became "AIC", its a fucking farce. Although I can't blame him since he didn't get to tour at their peak because of Staleys issues. AIC died with Layne Staley and thats all she wrote, he lefft a great legacy.

Jerry and Layne wrote alot of the material together. They were equally responsible for AIC's success, and if you listen to Jerry now, he still has alot of that dark, heavy sound that he had when Layne was alive. It's obvious that he had a great hand in the way the music went from the beginning and all the way to now.
