His drum skills do not matter what so ever in my opinion. It's what sounds good in a song, if he does a basic 4/4 beat for a song and it sounds great with the music, well that's what every drummers aim should be. Not to add in the fastest, technically mind boggling drum roll, just to impress fellow drummers, that's not what hes in the band for!!!

He uses similar patterns because that pattern works really with the music.

It's all a matter of opinion. And yes leperm is an amazing player with the ears of a god for being able to sound so many songs out, but I think you forget he is playing covers, Helders and in this case Howard are still the ones coming up with the actual music.

I'd say their dynamics are on par with each other, to say one isnt professional is pretty absurd. For being so 'mediocre' he (Helders) sure carries most of the songs.
