frankly i was expecting more from this game. Dragon quest is such a big franchise, and they give us awkward motion, set battles, and cheesy fight sequences. All in all, I'm disappointed.

I think Dragon Quest Swords is a good game and close to a modern day equivalent of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Someone new to RPGs will love this. Visually it's spectacular too.

Ok, like he said, this would be a good game for people new to RPG's, and I know someone is gonna get mad at me for saying this. This game wont be all that great. I just wish they would come out with another one, like DQ8. In my opinion, that was probably the best DQ ever.

How do you not mention the voice acting? It's one of the only Wii games that actually uses words for the majority of things said. I *loved* this game. I'm a core gamer, but not a core RPGer. I can see how this doesn't live up to gamers who play RPGs for hundreds of hours; but for gamers who don't like RPGs (or only like the occasional RPG), this game was amazing.

but stil the game is not as good as you said "amazing"? well probably because the fact you are an occasional RPG player, but this does not compare to any DQ before it, DQ ruled the RPG world back in the day until Final Fantasy came up *yay* the game is so bad that a friend of mine gave it away to me, and I sold it to buy another game xD

@alirubit, It probably is due to the fact that I'm only an occasional RPG player. I did actually play and beat DW3 and DWM series on the GBC. I don't say this game is anywhere near their level of appeal, but it was a game that I found consuming enough to actually bother completing. That is rare for a game, especially of a non-Nintendo-brand game on the Wii. It doesn't have to meet the standard of older DW/DQ games to be an amazing game.

@StoverTV well as we say in my country "para los gustos los colores" which means, there are many colors to like the one you want, or something like that (roughly translates as "for the likes the colors") but it does not appeal to me, I played it for 12 minutes and never touched it again (those 12 mins were only the opening not even the tutorial) and I am a big fan of RPGs and specially JRPG's but in this 1 there are many thinks I hate for instance the fact you cannot control other carachters

@alirubit, It did feel like an incomplete game based on both the fact that you couldn't control other characters and that the maps were not free-roaming. The attachment to the game, for me, was in the battle system. It alone was enthralling. Of course I hope they release a sequel with both a free roam option and better character control, and it will surely top this one. But for a Wii game, my expectations were low and exceeded.

i beat a couple of these in the series but in my eyes it isn't anything compared final fantasys and in my option it will be shadowed by final fantasy and most rpg for as long as they are made

@ryder62 that is true, japan loves DQ; it was, I think, one of the first JRPG to be love there but back in the day FF was really good and if im not wrong it actually outsold DQ at the begining but the later instances have disapointed, I think the best ones have been FF II and VII

how long is it? does it have good replay value? are there side quests? are there multiple endings? can u replay levels? how many diff characters can u get? what weapons can u get? are the levels unique or are the same every time is there good customization? does changing your armour change your appearance or not? can u play after you have beaten it or is it over when the credits start? can u have multiple save slots or just one?
