  • Nice little explanation of this powerful cartridge.

It's what I carry to protect myself and those I love.

I carry it with full power (627 foot pounds, 155 grain Speer Gold Dot) loads, and it puzzles me why anyone would ever be intimidated by even this stout load.

It's very controllable, accurate, and hits targets downrange with authority.

Many people out there don't even know that the full power 10mm can outdo even the .357 Magnum by between 25% and 50% more in terms of muzzle energy.

  • @PinkOld I agree! Thanks

  • Good info!!! Thanks!

  • @WolfClan76 You're welcome!

  • i really with there were more 10mm's on the market, like a sig or hk in 10mm would be nice

  • @HunterKiller308 Me too!!

  • Well whatever dude, enjoy your 10mm. I don't plan on getting one anytime soon though. You seems like a pretty cool guy and your videos are cool but saying the 40SW is "anemic" just struck a nerve. It has as much energy at 100 yards as a 9mm has at the muzzle. It has less recoil. Ammo doesn't cost a fortune and isn't as hard to come by, and with the right ammo it's putting out 500 pounds of energy at 1200 FPS. That's good enough for me. A .40 or 38 to the chest will beat a 10mm to the arm any day.

  • @ModernWarflare As I said earlier, I own many guns in many calibers. I often say in my vids that quality instruction and dedicated practice is more important than the choice between defensive handgun calibers. It is certainly true that a good solid hit with a lesser chambering is always better than a poor hit with a more powerful chambering. Take care

  • @GunznGear Yeah you too. Keep up the good work. I was just trying to defend my .40.

  • @ModernWarflare I type too slow to keep up with our conversation!!

  • @ModernWarflare Your username says it all.

If you handload, ammo is no problem at all with 10mm.

But then, that would require some patience and skill to learn, so you're out of luck there.

  • If you like the 10mm, that's fine, but don't start dogging on other calibers. They all have a purpose and their ups and downs. I completely disagree with your comment saying that the 40SW is "very anemic and the 38 special of pistols." You can keep your 10mm. My .40 cost 3 times less to shoot, I can make faster follow up shots, and I don't have a tiny dick so I don't need to compensate. If Jack Ruby was successful with a .38, I think my .40 will do just fine.

  • @ModernWarflare You obviously haven't seen many of my vids. I own many 40sw and 38 spcl handguns, but my comparison is accurate. When compared to 357 magnum, and 10mm, 40 and 38 are anemic. I don't need to compensate for anything, and blow hards like you amuse me. It's not my fault you're not "man" enough to handle powerful handguns. I guess all you can do is stay on the porch and bark...

  • @GunznGear Seconded on that!

I just don't understand all the whiny asses who gripe about the "incredible" recoil from the 10mm.

    Bull!

It's easier to shoot than even a medium frame .357 magnum, and has only slightly more recoil than a .45 ACP.

I'll keep my S&W 1006, thank you very much.

Oh, and I won't be concerned about my accuracy or effectiveness of rounds downrange to the point that I need to get out followup shots faster than an eyeblink, as the guys with lesser cartridges do.

  • @ModernWarflare My apology, I didn't realize you were only 19 yrs old, and cannot even purchase a handgun yet, much less have any knowledge concerning them. I do see you like video games though...

  • Comment removed

  • @ModernWarflare I don't know about creeping. You made a jackass comment on my vid, so I went to your channel to see what kind of channel you have. My comparison is very accurate, and maybe you should do a little homework before you shoot your mouth off. If you look at ballistic charts, you will see that the 40sw is not even in the same ballpark with original and full power 10mm loads, in fps and ft/lb of energy. Therefore comparing 40sw to 10mm is similar to comparing 38spcl to 357mag.

  • @ModernWarflare I started using and reloading 10mm ammo well before you were born, and I started using and reloading 40sw ammo while you were still in diapers. I think the 40sw is a fine self defense chambering, but it's power factor doesn't compete with the 10mm. That's fact!! BTW if you are under 21 years of age, it is illegal to own a handgun in the United States.

  • @GunznGear Actually you can't buy a handgun from a FFL until your 21, but you can own and even open carry a handgun in many states, such as Kentucky, when you're 18. A handgun can be gifted to you or bought from private sales when you're 18. For everyone who is 18 and wants to open carry a handgun, search up the "Youth Handgun safty act" and make sure you're familiar with your state laws!

  • 10mm in 1911 configuration will fail. Not all but many and that came from a dealer i have known for years plus his engineering friends. I guess Glock is the only mass produced that will handle it without issues. You may disagree and thats fine. Just remember MANY American companies tried the 'conversion' with many things and always failed.

  • @vorevox You are absolutely right... I disagree. The 1911 has proven to be a solid plarform for the 10mm. I wish the chambering was more popular so more companies would make more offerings.

  • Personally, just my "Opinion" but the title "Defense Load" is very ambiguous. If I was worried about being attacked by a bear then yes, I would want the 10mm, but I think its way to hot for home, or personal defense. So depending on what I am "defending" myself against the 10mm could be great, or it could be to much. Personally I prefer the 45 acp for concealed carry. Pow'R Ball 45auto +P; 165gr., Velocity 1225fps, 550 ft/lbs. I think the .45 acp is too good to be beat. Just my opinion though.

  • @dow3312 Like the 357 magnum and 41 magnum, the 10mm has the versatility to be both a defensive and field chambering. Most ppl think that a 357mag 125gr expanding hollow point is a great defensive load, but no one would recommend the 357mag 180gr hard cast load for CCW. I saw somewhere recently that the FBI considers optimum penetration for defensive loads should be btwn 13" and 17" (I think) There are many lighter weight loads for the 10mm that fit that nicely and brings a lot of energy w/ it

  • @GunznGear Yeah, I get that and I do agree, I just remember the 10mm from back in the day when they could blow a hole through a tank, I guess its just hard for me to wrap my mind around choking the round down some. And I do have to admit, one of the reasons I like the .45 acp is because its so Americana!! So there is a bias there.

  • @dow3312 Good points all around, but the 10mm is just as much an American creation as the .45ACP.

None other than Colonel Jeff Cooper was behind its development.

That Norma, a Swedish firm, was the first to offer factory loads is only an accident of history.

It was designed in the USA by an American, with the original gun for it (Bren Ten) made in America.

The first successful gun (Delta Elite) is U.S. made, and the finest (in my opinion) gun for it, S&W 1006, was also made right here.

  • @dow3312 I do agree that the 45acp is an excellent defensive chambering. More times than not, I carry a handgun in that caliber. Thanks for the comments!

  • Nice video, but you're talking to the choir Gunzngear. The truth is that you really don't need that firepower, but I agree that it is a fine round in the semi auto. But for an outdoorsman like you, you'd be much better off with either a 41 mag (in a Taurus 5 shot Tracker with the same ballistics as a 10mm) but much more versatile or even better yet, a 44 mag on a Tracker (357 frame). But for all around, the S&W 44 mag 4 inch with the partial underlug. Much more versatility.

  • @faultroy I love revolvers and I have several videos discussing them. 41 magnum is slightly more powerful that the 10mm. I own several 41mags from S&W and Ruger, and it's my favorite revolver chambering. I haven't had very much luck w/ Taurus. I also own a good number of 357 magnums and 44 magnums in different barrel lengths and manufactures, excluding Taurus. This vid was spefically presenting my fondness for the 10mm.

  • @1987yuksel You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it

  • Excellent video, thank you for sharing. I also wish that more gun manufacturers would design more of their products around the 10mm cartridge.

  • @GoBlackwater We should start a YouTube campaign!! Thanks

  • @GunznGear A larger proliferation of the 10mm is the only thing that will give me any incentive to upgrade.

  • @GunznGear That's for sure. It would appear that I am a 9mm fanboy, and I am to some extent. But that's only because 10mm firearm and ammo choices are so limited. I agree that .40 SW is rather anemic, and .45 ACP is not much better, except in applications where the use of expanding ammo is not feasible. (i.e. Geneva does not allow the military to use hollow points.) At this time, I really don't have much incentive to upgrade, re-train, and complicate my logistics.

  • @GoBlackwater I can't say that I'm a "fanboy" of any particular chambering or platform for firing it. I do have favorites though. All of the major self defense rounds have weaknesses and strengths, some are more versatile than others. There are several good 10mm hanguns on the market, more than enough to take advantage of that versatility. Many manufactures make enough ammo to enjoy and put away for a rainy day. I disagree concerning 45acp, I think it's exceptionaly good for defense. Thanks

  • @GunznGear I agree .45 ACP is definitely a good defense round. I was even thinking about getting a Glock 21 SF in late 2009. However, I think I might get a Glock 20 instead. Thanks again for all the great videos and information! :)

  • Double Tap in 10mm is my favorite round too, by far. It's what a 10mm is supposed to be, a full powerful load, not the anemic 10mm's made by others. Buffalo Bore is another great 10mm round, and folks may want to check out a new company out in Arizona, the HPR 10mm ammo round made by Scottsdale ammo. Some real primo full power stuff, and all American made and American workers, and great customer service..

  • @oldairforcedude I heard about HPR ammo when it first came out but I've never tried any. Thanks for the tip!!

  • Thanks for the share. We like our Glock 29.

  • @guns4funca Love the G29! Thanks

  • I've had my Glock 20C for 2 years now, and the compensated model really reduces recoil, not that it's that bad anyway, very manageable and powerful round. I'm getting the G29 next. The Gun Tests magazine said they were all surprised how manageable this little Glock was and every tester that shot it loved it and were pleasantly surprised. The 20 and 29 are one of the few handguns out there that can handle the 10mm.....with ease!

  • @oldairforcedude I agree with those testers. I just love my G29!

  • the 40 s&w isnt that far off of the .45 how is it a junk round?

  • @zac030101 I never said 40sw was a "junk round". I said it compared to the 10mm like the 38special does to the 357 magnum.

  • HE SAID THE SPEAR GOLD DOT OF THIS BULLET(.45) 230 GRN 189FT<<< PER SEC???!!! LOL IS THAT A BB GUN? HAHAHA

  • @kape187 Yeah I made a mistake, but I've corrected it several times in the comments.

  • I really want a glock 29sf as my concealed carry weapon......I really want to use double taps "equalizer" round in that gun also. If the glock can handle that very round. but I liked the review.....I have to kick some things around and see exactly whats what.......cause I might just get a revolver........thanks for the review.

  • @TheSonofthunder7 I really like my G29, but there's nothing wrong w/ a good revolver!!

  • I've owned 5 Glock 20's.

  • @glennwih They're good solid guns!

  • Was this filmed in an airport?

  • @Slingsomelead LOL no but I do live inline with flight path to a airport.

  • If your going to carry a full size pistol then 10mm is a no brainer if one is looking for a do it all Auto Pistol.... However full size autos are not known for being very comfortable for every day concealed carry... The advantage of the 40 over the 10mm is the fact that it is powerful enough.. and more importantly it is available in more concealable guns like the Glock 27..23 frame.

That said if its a choice between a full size g20 in 10mm or a g22 in 40sw i would choose the 20 every time...

  • I hate when people talk shit about the 10mm. Im a big fan of the 10.. pretty sure i always will be.. it pretty much covers all ranges of handgun use. personal protection, comp., whatever you need it for. nice vid dude!!

  • I was told by a local gun shop owner that 10mm is harder to control by recoil. I've fired .45 ACP(S&W 4506) plenty of times and I wanted to get a comparison of firing characteristics.

  • @Agent1W The 10mm has a little more recoil than the 45acp, but I have never thought it was bad. I guess I would compare it to a Commander size 1911 in 45acp.

  • @GunznGear The word around some of my local gun shop owners is that the fed gov't are too scared to touch 10mm. How does that make sense if the fed gov't has used Colt 1911s for the better part of a century? If they wanted to save money, that could be a good argument but saving money hasn't been one of our gov't's strong suits.

  • totally agree, i LOVE the 10mm its my fave by far. if im using a suppressor ill use 45acp since its already sub sonic. aside from that 10mm all the way!

Glock 20 is the best 10mm platform i know of

  • @HunterKiller308 G20's are great!! Thanks

  • So the argument is that rounds other than 10mm lose too much energy at 100 yds?? I carry a Glock 27 .40, and I also have a Glock 22 .40. If someone attacks me or breaks into my house, that round will do quite well in response, especially the Hydro-Shoks, plus it won't end up in one of my neighbors' houses due to over-penetration. Hunting is a completely different discussion, but for personal protection, my .40 in a 9mm sized weapon is more than potent, and very concealable for carrying.

  • @izzy351 There's nothing wrong w/ 40sw. I pick on it b/c of how it was developed. I own quite a few 40's, and carry them often. I do feel the the power generated by 10mm defensive loads are more potent than 40sw.

  • 10mm might be excessive force for the jury, I use the good'ol 45 acp in the house, 40 cal outside because I am most accurate with it. It pounches holes on paper that connect each other, while my 45 is all over the COM.

  • @recordmanful I wouldn't think the 10mm could be said to be excessive. I think there are still some police agencies that use the 10mm, and even if there isn't any, the main reason that FBI and other agencies moved away from the 10mm was due to the large frame of the gun and recoil, not excessive power. I believe these things can be addressed w/ good instruction, and training. The 10mm is still considered a defensive round and many ammo companies still make defensive loads.

  • @recordmanful I prefer 10mm over .40 because .40 seems to have too much muzzle flip for my liking and 10mm just pushes in my hand more, I can more accurately rapid fire a glock 29 than a glock 27.

  • You can debate the merits of different cartridges all day, but having shot a lot of different rounds, I'll say that nothing puts a grin on my face quite like 10mm. Sometimes that's just the most important thing.

  • @ernunnos Amen!! Thanks

  • Can't wait until I get a 10mm! I have loved shooting 9mm, and will continue to do so at the range but I really think 10mm is going to be my round of choice for defense over the 9mm. Granteed it's probably almost two times the price of 9mm. Which is a factor of why I bought a 9mm pistol from the get go, because I could shoot it more often at the range.

  • @thefastlife4me1 The 10mm is a great round. I hope you get the one you want soon. Thanks

  • The .40 S&W uses a small pistol primer, the 10mm uses a large pistol primer.

  • @floridafyme Yes it does.

  • If I were to choose the ultimate combat side arm,it would be the Glock 20 with full loads.

  • @floridafyme That's a good one, for sure. Thanks

  • I am intrigued by the 10mm but I would need to see autopsy reports and actual police shootings to be sure that the tactical penetration is not excessive. Till then I would prefer a safety slug in 10mm...........

  • @vidfanWash good luck w/ your research.....

  • @GunznGear is the 10mm as powerful as a .357 magnum round?

  • @Leonknight23 the 10mm is more powerful than the 357, its right between the 357 and 41 mag

  • its your favorite period, nothing more

  • @auradud3 Yes it is my favorite, so what's your point??

  • @auradud3 i guess the point is we all have OUR perfect caliber

  • @auradud3 Very true

  • @GunznGear thanks my friend

  • @auradud3 I thought I said that the 10mm was my favorite pistol chambering in my vid. That's why I didn't get what you were saying earlier. Take care

  • @GunznGear i catch it because i am guilty of doing the same thing, trolls love it!

  • W/O chronographing these box's claims the assertions made here regarding velocity and thus energy are meaningless.

  • @akompsupport I stated earlier in the comments that I have a chronograph and I've used it w/ many of the Double Tap loads.

I think someone who makes a comment on some body elses vid, then hides their channel has no balls, thus their comments are meaningless

  • you need to take that gun and shoot you're realestate agent lol!! those jets are loud

  • @motorheadjoe86 LMAO!! Awesome comment!!

  • Are you sure? I don't know whether it was hornady or Speer but one of em had a 124 jhp load that was supposed to be hitting 714 fpe.

I could be wrong though, so don't hold me on that.

  • @e1ghtys1x Google search: Hornady 357sig 115 gr Critical Defense - 1235 fps/389 ft/lbs of energy 124gr XTP - 1350/502 147gr XTP - 1225/490 Double Tap Ammo 10mm: 125gr Barnes Tac-XP - 1600 fps/ 710 ft/lbs of energy 135gr Nosler JHP - 1600/767 150gr Nosler JHP - 1475/725 200gr Hardcast lead - 1300/750, at 100yds - 1105/542 (my new favorite hunting load) Double Tap ammo ballistics shown here was shot from a Glock 20 not a test barrel Hornady ammo ballistics did'nt say
  • @GunznGear Damn, I was way off. Oh well, it's either a .45acp or a 10mm at this point. =P

Colt has an xse 1911 that's got my interest. And I guess I'll have to find someone who has a 10mm.

  • @e1ghtys1x I'm sorry how that reply showed up. I tried to list the different loads vertically, but it didn't show up that way. Then I tried again using double spaces, but it still didn't show up properly.

  • @GunznGear It's cool, I could read it. I think I'll stick with the .45. Thanks for the reply :)

  • the glock 20 and 29 are 2 of the best hand guns in the WORLD =)

I outfitted my g29 with a lasermax internal laser guide rod aswell as 2 conversion barrels by kkm so now it shoots 10mm , 357 sig and 40s&w aswell as a 22 conversion kit. 4 guns in one dead accurate easy to disassemble and clean and well its a glock so its reliability is unmatched =)

  • @fawkUtube Glock does make a good handgun!! Thanks for your comment

  • I'll have to shoot a 10mm, those ballistics sound kind of like some of the .357sig loadings ive seen.

  • @e1ghtys1x The 357sig may have similar speed (fps), but it cannot compete w/ energy (ft/lbs) of the 10mm.

  • 10MM Is old hat .40 s&w has repladed it.....my pefect cartridge is the .44spc loaded at 835 fps giving 45 acp power....this is for me since i have the revolver !

  • @hardman476 Can a .40 S&W push a 200 gr bullet to 1300 fps? The 10mm offers substantially more power (more fpe than .357 mag) than typical pistol cartridges but without the disadvantages of a revolver. It is suitable for people who reload who want a more powerful handgun but don't want to give up capacity to do it.

  • @hardman476 10mm hit the seen in the 1980's, the 44 was around in the 1880's, so which one is old hat??? LOL 40sw cannot replace 10mm since it just cannot compete w/ 10mm versatility. The 40sw is proving to be a descent rd to use against people, but the 10mm has proven to be a good rd to use against people and everything else!!

Nothing wrong w/ a good revolver! I'm a fan of the 44spcl and the 45 long colt also. Thanks

  • The biggest problem with .40,10mm, .357 is that in a SHTF event ammo will be hard to come by especially if you must leave your perimeter and venture out. Your chances of ending up with a beautiful door stop is significant.

9mm and.5.56/.223 will be the most available.

But as a home defense weapon you are possibly correct.

  • @TR5T I've seen this stated many times, but I see no logic in it. I agree that 9mm and 223 are very common, and because of that, they will be the first to be pillaged. I don't believe in such scenerios folks will go to stores or other resources and just take a few items, instead they will most likely take it all. The only thing like ammo that will be left behind will be obscure chamberings that they will have no use for. BTW In this country 22lr is the most owned gun, followed by 38/357. Thanks

  • @GunznGear Just projecting to the worst case scenario, thinking back to my riot control days in Chicago 67-68 1st. AD. We had loads of military ammo, .45/7.62. If worse came to worse I'm simply saying that military ammo and most people you come across will have 9mm/.5.56/.223 it's just the law of averages.

We have no idea how bad it may get and I'm taking no chances.

If they had the armament in Chicago that is out there today we'd of had civil war.

  • @TR5T You're absolutely right. The military chamberings will always have the most ammo available.

  • @GunznGear This is slightly off topic but I once read a book called "They died with their boots on" In it the author explained that the old west gun fights even with .45s had to be only feet apart as often the powder was so inferior the projectile would not have enough energy to penetrate a heavy coat.

Makes modern .22s look down right lethal.

  • @TR5T Well, there used to be several different 45 chamberings that were loaded at different levels, and I'm not familar with most of them. The standard 45 long Colt in modern ammo today is still a formidable round. While a 22lr can kill, it's best suited for empty soup cans and small game.

  • @TR5T 45 ACP way more common.

  • @oldschoolgreentube Let's hope!

  • I also shoot Double Tap ammo almost exclusively in my Glocks. I have two Glock 20s in 10mm. I had some unusual incidents with both of them. The action slide ejected the spent round and chambered a fresh round. Yet, the trigger was not reset. This seems impossible given the way that a Glock functions. I took them both to a Glock armorer. He said the problem was with the Double Tap ammo. Have you ever had anything like this happen to you?

  • @BFerry10 I first came across Double Tap ammo several yrs back, and I've shot a good amount of it through my G20. Prior to '08, they were still relatively unknown and their prices were cheaper than the larger companies. I haven't had this issue with the G20 or my newer G29. Was the armorer suggesting the ammo was too powerful for the Glock? I was talking to the owner of DT ammo one day and he said he's put many thousands of rds through his Glocks. I was asking him about the G29. Keep us informed

  • @GunznGear The Glock armorer implied that it was a lack of quality control. Seems like hollow speculation. They were not familiar with Double Tap ammo and lumped it in with the "those internet ammos not carried in sporting goods stores because of liability concerns". I disagree with his conclusion about Double Tap ammo but, I have still not gotten to the bottom of this. I bought the second Glock 20 for my daughter because she lives in bear country. Reliability is pretty darn important.

  • @BFerry10 My experience w/ Double Tap ammo suggests differently than your armorer. When I first started ordering their 10mm ammo, I shot quite a bit of it through a chronograph and I found the ammo to be very consistent. They also use quality components. Now that their company is growing rapidly, I hope their ammo quality continues.

  • I have always been attracted to the 10mm. I have a .41 magnum and it is a fantastic cartridge but I like the Semi Auto format in the 10mm offering especially in a Glock. I would love to own either the 29 or the 20. The 29 appeals to me because I like mid size semi's but either one would be fine. Christmas is coming and just maybe... Nice video and comparison. I enjoyed it.

  • @Roberthurz The G29 is a nifty little gun. I hope Santa brings you one!! Thanks

  • @GunznGear Just took the leap and bought a Glock 29 today. Super excited. I hope Santa brings him one to

  • @plord82 Congrats on the new gun purchase! I've had my G29 just a little over a year, and I really like mine. I hope your enjoy yours as well! Thanks for sharing

  • The .40 S&W is a Ten in Drag.........

  • @rattinox That is an awesome comment!!! Thanks

  • @rattinox If you want both .40 and 10mm, the S&W 610 is for you. Can fire both 10mm and .40

  • Didn't Norma also make a FMJ flatpoint in 200-grain @ 1300fps?

Those old Norma specs are what I try to duplicate (just a bit lower Vm @ 1200fps) for my Glock 20. Vihta Vuori N105 has the perfect burning curve for the standard Glock 20 with a Fire Dragon recoil spring. Lower pressure and far less flash, too. Meters perfectly in my old Dillon 550B. Not for Wussies, though!!

  • @rattinox Norma probably did make that round, but I'm not aware that it was one of the first ones introduced. The first time I tried Double Tap ammo I was surprized that there was little to no flash either. I've never used Vihta Vuori powder, but looks like I should try some. Thanks

  • I'm in your camp, Sir- the Ten has got to be the most versatile handgun (and subgun!) round ever devised. St. Cooper & Crew did a fantastic job, but like the F-104 Starfighter, the whole 10mm concept was incomprehensible to the Doorknobs & Wussies.............

  • @rattinox I think many folks just do not know enough about the 10mm, and they get butt hurt if someone says there's something out there better than their pet gun. There are lots of great chamberings and I enjoy many of them. I'm a big 41 magnum fan, and the thought of having a semi auto w/ similar ballistics is what first drew me to the 10mm.

Thank God for Col. Jeff Cooper! I pray he's running a shooting range in heaven! Thanks

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb Awwww aren't you cute when you get angry. Maybe you should learn to read and comprehend, before you decide to pontificate your BS on someone else's vid. I know you think you're God's gift to the world, but you should learn to show respect if you want respect in return. If you took the time to check my other vids, you would see I like all kinds of guns in many diferent calibers. Now you will learn that your childish attittude has lost your priviledge to comment on my channel

  • You are right about the ten. Hopefully we dont have 1911 fan boys comment about the 45

  • @LiveFreeOrDie1985 Nothing wrong w/ a nice 1911 in 45acp, I own several of them, but the 10mm is be more effective in certain areas. Thanks

  • Why would you even compare them at 100yds, when cqbs occur no more than 7 yds in average. at 7 yds a .40 would be a lot controllable than a 10mm, at 100 yds they can eat my dust.. my five cents....

  • The bullets are 1,16cm in diametre?

  • Its a shame that there are not many models out there that are chambered in 10!

  • @mpett2 I agree!! I have called both Springfield Armory, and S&W in a attempt to get them to add 10mm to their XD and M&P line of pistols.

  • @GunznGear Yep S&W used to make a ss model in 10mm but that stoped back in the 90's. All I know if is S&W, Colt 1911 and Glock that has or had 10mm. Is there any others?

  • @mpett2 I had one of those first models from Smith, and I didn't like them.

EAA has models in 10mm, Springfield Armory 1911 longslide, STI, also have models. That's all I can think of.

  • @GunznGear

i hate that more makers load their 10 mills to around 500 pounds of energy when it should make 800 at full potential

  • @mpett2 I agree! thanks

  • WHY DID YOU SAY THE SPEER GOLD DOT .45 ROUND HAS ONLY 189 FEET PER SECOND AT 07:42? TELL ME THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!

  • @cbrd1228 LOL Yes that's wrong! I covered that in an earlier comment. I either wrote down the wrong info from Speer's website, or just read it wrong. That load is moving at 890fps.

  • double tap is almost 1 dollar a bullet vs 45 about 40 cents a bullet and 45acp is expensive at that makes me cringe with all the calibers i have

  • @readyfourwar Double tap is a premium ammo and has become expensive. If you look at their offerings for other calibers, including 45acp, they are high. When looking at other ammo companies, and their offerings for range ammo then 10mm and 45acp are similar.

  • @GunznGear im not saying its a bad round i been think about owning one my self just i dont see the point in one unless i use double tap grade ammo. if not better off buying a 40 the ballistics are close to most 10mm ammo. when it comes to 45 the cheap stuff is really all you need ballistic wise and the double tap is like a +p round.. but im not compairing the 45 round it can be said for the 40 and most other rounds. just saying i want alot of ammo and 1 dollar abullet would be over 1000 dollars

  • @readyfourwar While the 45acp could be considered the only chambering where FMJ is still considered a good choice for defense; advancement in ammunition now offers much better offerings. Premium ammo provides better results, but it does cost more. Some of my favorite defensive ammo includes Speer Gold Dot, Hornady, Double Tap, Corbon DPX, and Glaser Safety Slug. The last two cost considerably more than 1 dollar a round. The DT offering similar to the DPX is cheaper, and has better ballistics.

  • @cybrough Over penetration is a issue w/ many proven defensive chamberings (357mag 40 sw, 9mm, 357sig etc) Amunition selection for defensive use is critical.

  • @cybrough If your worried about over penetration, go look at Magsafe or Extreme Shock ammo. They both have a couple of offerings for the 10mm.which are extremely devastating and effective...... Using in an urban environment is absolutely no problem. Extreme Shock ammo is kind of pricey, but what is your life worth??

  • @Sasquatch7foot Yes, the MagSafe, 96gr I believe, was rated number one in stopping power in a major test done in Europe some years back used on live Alpine Goats. A shot to the chest cavity dropped them instantly. The MagSafes are pricey but looking at how they're made, they only penetrate so far, but devastating. they're like two bucks a round. No other pistol round or gun touched this, ..shot through a Glock 20 of course.

  • @oldairforcedude Strange that you brought the Magsafe ammo up..... I'm in the process of getting some right now..... A close friend of mine gave me a couple rounds of it for my primary EDC carry......

  • Norma ammo is the only stuff I actually removed from my gun after firing 2 rounds. It was 38 special Norma JHP, in a Model 66 (.357) recessed and pinned 4"...........It was hotter than any .357 and i seriously thought I would hurt the gun or myself with that stuff!!!!!!

  • quite informative. thanks!

  • @spartan17223137 Glad you liked it!

  • Love The Colt Delta Elite ! I agree that the 10mm should have been the more popular round over the 40 S&W. Many complained it kicked too hard. To me a 10mm in a semi auto is actually a bit easier than a 357 Mag out of a 4 ich BBL revolver. The 10 mm is equal to the 41 Mag in power {Another Underappreciated Cartridge}, and hitting with over 700 ft-lbs will devastate an assailant and knock him right out of his shoes ! The 40 is a good round and I like it but it's no 10 mm ! 10= Perfection !

  • @TommyGuns40 Amen brother!! The reason that I'm a 10mm fan is b/c of the 41 magnum. Thanks

  • @ConcealedFirepower I carry several different calibers, and I'm fortunate to have options in choosing firearms for CCW. One of my favorite summer time (tshirt and shorts) CCW is a Walther PPS in 9mm. I also use Speer GD bonded 124gr loads and Corbon DPX.

  • @ConcealedFirepower More power than a 357 magnum. 1,600 fps/ 767ft.lbs. of kinetic energy will open up a big ass shockwave hole through human flesh using a 135 grain bullet and will not over penetrate. Anything above 1500fps will cause this to happen. No caliber lower than 10mm or .357 magnum will give the same effect.

  • @ConcealedFirepower 10mm from the begining was considered a defensive as well as a field chambering. The power factor was why the FBI adopted it. I have the opposite presumption as you. The FBI first requested lighter loads, and then the 40sw was developed instead of providing more training which would address handling and recoil issues. I believe in quality instruction and comitment to good practise is essential regardless of caliber. More powerful rds requires more training not less.

  • 2mm shoter than the 10mm (all comparison to 10mm)

  • I use .45 Super. Exactly the same as .45 acp but with a stronger case. Matches the same velocity and energy levels with a case 2mm shorter. (per bullet weight.) only thing you need to do is buy a stiffer recoil spring and a possible buffer.

  • @GuerrillaFF I've heard good things about the 45super. Thanks

  • This was the best ammo video i've ever seen on youtube! Question: 10mm seems very, very powerful...what is the fear of it over penetrating in a self-defensive situation. Attacker approaches, i fire, i hit target....now does the 10mm go thru and on to local bystanders or thru walls to hit others?? Please give your input on the matter. Thanks

  • @MustBe21orUp Thanks for the kind words. In my opinion, the lighter weight loads (165, 155gr etc) would probably ensure against over penetration.

  • I still like my .357.

  • @belair55zz56 So do I

  • i now need $550 plus tax...

  • @blackrabbitwhitesoul me too!!

  • The 10mm is a serious rock and roll round! Gonna get a 10mm top end for my Witness.
