  • Steiner heve european and american ships too?Can you diside to go only on american ships?

  • @stu4757 On your first ship they'll say where you go. For your second contract you may get a choice. Its all about retail with steiner som show that you are good at retail in training and you'll get a good ship.

  • @Djinnmeister Uhhhh, thats not good, that without knowing where to go, have to sign a contract, and fist time is 9 months, maybe in a bad ship for low salery.OMG!

  • @stu4757 9 months, wow. I was on way back in '96 '97 they first contract was 8 months and after that 6.

  • Steiner sucks. Unless you're the Ionitherapy specialist you'll make fuck all money.

  • the 7-8 thousand dollars she is talking about is probably the amount she brings in for the company as you have a target of about 800 a week, we were told this is easily done if you work hard, if you work very hard you can reach up to 10-15 thousand. Basicly the harder you work the more you earn! We were told to treat this like it was your own business, as you are given your own room and are responsible for booking in clients for yourself and selling to make yourself the money.

  • on port days. I have not been on a cruise ship so i cant give you a personal experience but it sounds like a great opportunity. The down side is that if you go for a job on a cruise ship with steiner, if you decide to leave whilst contracted, you will have to pay for your flight home, and you will have to pay to cover the flight of the replacement therapist, so if you are in a country like australia, that is going to cost you a lot of money! also if you leave you can NEVER work for steiner again

  • on port days you wont be so busy, but will still need to work. If you have worked very hard and met all of your targets your manager may give you extra time off, e.g. an extra 3 hours on a certain day, you can save this and add it to your lunchtime on a port day so that you have 4 hours of soare time on a port day and can wonder around wherever you are port and see the country. You will then return and finish work at 8pm when you can again leave the ship and explire as there is no training

  • recognise you, introduce you to their families and buy you drinks so you must be on best behaviour. If you are looking to have a fun 'night out' then you can do that on the crew dech where there are discos and bars etc. You get discount of 50% off drinks etc, 25% off clothing in the malls etc and services like the gym, hairdressing, beauty and food are all free. You do have targets and if you dont meet them you will be given training to work on areas you are weak on (maybe selling)

  • and you reeally have to push your self, she described it as a work hard play hard company. Your busiest days are the days the ship is sailing, these days you will be doing 12 hours a day with back to back treatments, starting at half 7 and finishing at 8pm, you will then go for dinner and return to your salon for 9pm to have some training until 10pm and then bed or whatever you want to do. She told us you can go onto the passenger deck but you must behave AT ALL TIMES as the passengers will

  • i had a lady into my college today from steiner. She told us that the pay is 7.25 % on the products sold and all of the treatments you do, plus tips that you get from any clients which you get to keep. There is no tax off the money, no bills to pay so all that money earnt you get to keep, soo you could be looking at about 700 pounds a week. I would love to go onto a ship but i could never leave my family so i will never know what its like to work on them, she told us it is VERY hard work

  • well you will never know until you try!!! im taking the risk. you dont regret the things you do, but you do regret the things you dont do

  • I was thinking of applying for a cruise ship job next year but reading bad comments about it makes me think tobe honest paying alot of money to join them and not getting good pay

  • Hi I have a interview in Manchester for Steiner on the 25TH of this month and I have now seen all these bad comments, Are they really that bad to work for?? Xx

  • 7 or 8 thousand in a 12-day cruise??!! What ship is that??

  • Haha, Steiners are the Photogs play things!!!!

  • dont work for steiner on board a cruise ship. From what i remember your treated bad and the money is rubbish,

  • Hi all

Is Steiner really bad to work for? went for an interview but money sounds shit for the hours that you work! can anyone give me any advice? i would be working as a receptionist

  • @Charzize yes there crap to work for.

  • Leave the Steiner alone!!!

Nothing without them on the ship!!!!

Moral of the crew depends on them...

  • Steiner is like the Army. At the training camp (sorry Watford ymca) they go out their way to make you cry. They are unsupportive to their staff & treat you as another number to make them money & work you to the bone.I saw the world and travelled to the most amazing places but each day was filled with dread & frustration at how badly I was treated by my boss. They dont care if you are a good therapist they only care if you can sell retail.I advise all if you do it use them as much as they use you.

  • @jeffalady do you think steiner is very bad? i have to start a new course next month and i have to sign the contract in these days..now, reading all these bad comments, i don't know what i have to do..please advice me who had experience with this company

  • @christian85roma i have done 2 contracts. you are expected to make the money but it really is what you make of it. i loved the shiplife and had great time. steiner arent fantastic but who gives a shit, i made a fair bit of money and enjoyed my time with friends. my manager was not at all fun on my first ship but i just avoided her. it really is what you make of it

  • Definitly agree, I currently am in ways involved with Streiner, if you can't sell, just forget about it!

  • Youtube is a fabulous medium for educating people about the reality of working on cruise ships, in particular the pressures staff are put under to sell to passengers. As a passenger, I can tell you that this hard sell focus is very off-putting. I have only used spa services once and felt pressurised to buy products. Ever since, I have avoided this part of the ship and its staff. I would love to treat myself to some treatments again, but don't want the hassle of the hard sell. :(

  • steiner are not allowed in passenger areas , you are nott allowed in cinema , bars , disco , theatre , crew bar is shit and never open , no use of pool either days off are limited mine was when we ported in miami so only off till the ship saled then you have to work greeting passangers even though you just worked till midnight cleaning the night before , they tell you fuck all about the bad points when your at stanmore and there is NO medical back up if your sick

  • @cowan1973 did you work for steiner? what about this company? i have to start working next month but actually i have in my hands a contract and i don't know if i have to sign it..

  • let me warn you that when i worked for them your salary is a 50 dollar retainer and 5 % commission on work sales and the same on retail , but they aint intersested in work sales only fuckin elemis products , i used to bring in the most work sales and still got a warning from that bitch in head offfice for retail and i had only been there 3 weeks , and was never told fuck all about the fact that the more you bring in the more they up your target and the fact that they can split up your days off

  • all the training staff are bitches epecially that fat bitch YASMIN HUNT

  • If you want to work on a cruise ship go as Youth staff or sports staff you make less but its more fun than staying inside on deck 12. having endless meetings about how you suck at your job ( retail wise).

  • I just got done working for Steiner/Mandra Spa.... and there is a lot of two faced bullshit you have to deal with.. I wish i went to the Harding Brothers aka The OnBoardSpa Company. I hear a lot of Great thing about OnBoardSpa as well and all of the things i heard comes from people who work for steiner or who has worked for steiner.

  • i've heard a lot of bad stories about steiner as well. the best company to go for is onboard spa, ma friend is working for them n she says they r brilliant, they pay u a salary as well as comission

  • thanks i just applied! having second thoughts about my interview with steiner next month!!

  • Hi Howz u? i left a comment on a video on youtube about thw bad things i heard about steiner and recommended onboard spa, u said you applied, did they get back to you? i had an interview last week and i got the job! it sounds amazing

    Tracey x

  • i'm great thanks for asking... you know i did apply and they responded and asked for my resume and i procrasinated and never sent it.. i need to tho cuz i wanna go so bad.. i just didn't want to leave this year.. but i should work on that now so i can work for them all next year.. did you have to leave the country to interview?

  • wow she´s a very good actor of the company!!! 7000-8000 hahahahahahahaaha very good joke!!

  • This is funny because its such a lie.For some, Steiner is a dream but for me, hu-uh a nightmare!10 massages a day, manager from hell, retail training at 10pm,staying onboard on your precious days off for meetings,7% commission off your earnings!ridiculous targets,i was transferred for the wrong position!working on a cruise ships is amazing but not with Steiner, they sell you a dream thats not there, dont be fooled!

  • I was wondering as well..what a money??? I do not believe it.

  • Steiner, day light robbery, all they want is to take your money not to pay you. Is all about money for them. A spa transformed in to constant push to sell retail. You have to pay more money than you actually earn to get the job. Make sure you read your contract well before you'll sign and don't get fooled by a bunch idiots they will take advantages of you.

  • this really helps... im supposed to have an interview for massage therapist with steiner early june

  • dont do it , you will be expected to hit your targets in a week , and if not you will be treated like dirt , days off are a rareity and all the training is shit its all SALES and be prepared to work at least 12 - 13 hour days and then port clean when your salon will be inspected with a fuckin white glove , thats only after steiner keep you in the shitty ymca in watford for 6 months

  • @mikeymike2200 hey i just recenlty applied a job with them.. now i am having second thought after what u posted.. have u worked there before mate?

  • But like i said ship life is the best and so is travelling the world with all your new friends...but it a desicion you have to weigh up...wether you can deal with all the shit...for a memory of a lifetime that you will never ever forget!!!!

  • ..dont forget you always have a nasty ass manager shouting at you constantly to make more money, even if you make money and the team dosent you stil get shouted at....plus if you dont push yourself to death then you dont get paid properly.....this girl makes me laugh with her 7-8 thou a cruise?!?...i dont know how much they paid her to say that but its not true...the pay is shit for the dog hours you work!!

  • THIS MSG IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO WORK ON A CRUISE SHIP!!!....Everything abouts ships is great apart from the work!!!Even though i love my line of work in Beauty....they make you work 11 hours a day and thats only if a fleet operations manager is on...wheer you could do a 13-14 hour day which includes a port clean of the whole spa as well as a meeting after where the managers just basically talk about themselves and their lives on ships!!!

  • paahahahaa....$7000-$8000 a 12 day cruise?!?!....dont make me laugh!!

  • Still it's a lot of fun to work at sea! I think I'll be doing those cruises too on Diamond Princess -- LOOKING FORWARD!!!

  • Between 7 or 8 thousand a (12 day) cruise???!!! ... 3 time less than that -- a month!

    Don't tell stories!

  • Im getting ready to go to traing in Hawaii to work as a massage thereapist. Is there anything I need to be worried about? How is the money?

  • Steiner might be bastards but they are totally upfront with you from the beginning so if you think you are going on one big holiday your not, its your job and you can make great money at it if youv'e got the get up and go to carry it off and youll meet friends that you'll never forget

  • for us that are new to cruising, we are told not to bring cash .. and also, we are told that the tips can come from the credit established. is this true? how do the spa workers get their tips if cash is not to be used onboard? I would like to be able to tip properly.

  • on most ships u can add the tip to your ship's account or give them cash. it's also welcome in the spa!

    normal tip is around 15-20%.

    have a fantastic cruise!!!

  • how do i get a joB??

  • Steiners work their asses off. Crazy hours, and it's mostly a thankless job, because guests don't typically tip well, if at all. Yes, product sales are a must if you want to go above and beyond, and make some extra cash.

  • Why they dont say that you need to sale products in order to make your money...that your money is crap if you dont have tips...that you do a 2 hours treatment and the guests are tiping you with 2 dollars...what about 14 hours working everyday . steiner suks big time...

  • hi i had an interview with this company and the recruitme as a fitness instructor, but i am caring about the money,, they dont ive me a lot of explanatios about how much i am going to earn, and all this is a bit confusing for me , can you give me some advice. have you ever worked with them? please let me now
