@Nyberrg Partly correct. But the excesses of rock are unambiguously almost always tied to drug use and often overdose. When is the last time you heard of a classical french horn player dying from a heroine overdose? Rock and drugs are tethered together and there is no denying that fact, however bonfires and college aren't tied at the hip if you will with few exceptions.

The answer is obvious. Some traditions are good, others bad. But this is not something that follows for the mere sake of being a tradition. Traditions are not inherently reactive or beneficial, evil or good, they simply say it's a repeated cultural practice which the population identify as standing for something else (an event, a prelude/epilogue, a celebration...) Some traditions can be said to be bad, and should be dropped. Others not.
