Why people think they can 'cure' austism, or anything on the autistic spectrum for that matter, is beyond me.

We are the minoritory group in this neurotypical-dominated world. Fair enough that there are people out there who wish to 'support' us, so as to make our lives that bit 'less difficult', and create bridging points between us and them. But cure us?! Anyone who thinks they can cure autism is off their rocker!

I thought I had already replied to this, but it seems my reply has gone missing in the ether. I will repeat it for everyone's edification.

Autism Speaks are not liberators or even nice people. They explicitly and indirectly state a goal of autism genocide on their website's main page, and their claim to being a charity representing autistic individuals is fraudulent.

Do a Google search for the phrase "Autism Speaks does not speak for me". It will open your eyes more than you might have wished.

They did so by ignoring data that does not support their conclusion and fudging up data that they think does.

For example, they chose to ignore the fact that while they think one in 150 or so people being autistic is a reason to have a holocaust, it may be as common as one in 15 in Silicon Valley. Not sure what the rate is among Sony's or Toshiba's technological specialists is, but something about the recent format war leads me to the conclusion that Sony has more auties among their ranks. ;-)

You would have learned that the maker and poster of this video used to be an autistic child himself, and is now a very unhappy, frightened, and dispossessed autistic adult. As someone who potentially has Asperger's syndrome I will say that, despite what to me seems to be good intentions of Autism Speaks, the organization actually demonizes people with the disorder. Imagine being told that you have to fit a certain precut mold in order to fit into society and that unless you fit that mold somebody else needs to come and "cure" you. On a personal level I am mixed, because after going through years of ridicule and recently having a hard time with social skills,

Its called a spectrum dumbat, besides the way its diagnosed you get people with AS less high functioning than people with autism and vice versa. Plus those people with 'real problems' have started communicating using current technologies, and agree with us dumbo. Surely those with the diagnosis should have more of a say than those without one at all.
