I listen to metal, rock, emo, punk, scremo, heavy metal, goth, and everything inbetween...I'm sad to say that I was an 'undercover' goth for a few years and never heard of them, now I'm out of my shell and I sing their songs in class. I probally never heard of them because of the fact that I was grounded from the computer for a year...but what can I say, there's consequnces to being yourself; your parents might not always approve.

Just heard it today for the first time. Never heard of this band before, jus happened to stumble upon it through an irrelevant web page. Glad i did. I LOVE their sound. They are arguably even better than Nightwish. :::::DISCLAIMER::::: The Nightwish comment is strictly of my own opinion,so dont rag on me abt it, please.

If anything, Darkwave/Ethereal... but Cruxshadows has ALWAYS had a sound of their own. I'm still laughing at the concert I went to where they were talking about how they're Christian and yet always get booked with a Satanic artist, that was back when they played a small goth club here with Angelspit. Anyhow, their music is just... life-changing, regardless of what "category" you put yourself or them in.

Considering the origins of the term in history (during several eras) and the 'goth' movement which sort of came out of post-punk and then, of course, the wide range of 'goth' (or, more appropriately, 'gothic' since it derives far more from the gothic victorian era in many ways) in metal since the early 90's.

I dress the music. -Said correctly- I have a thing for dark/Rock/goth/emo music -Cruxshadows, Metallica, Iron Maiden, OTEP, Ext.- and I dress to show it off. Does that make me goth? The goth culture is one of the most retarded I know. From mainstream people I understand that they conform because they are convinced that everybody does that. But if you call yourself goth you prove that you have thought a lot about conforming and fitting in. So you don't want to conform with Top 40 artists because conforming is lame but conforming with the Goth culture is cool somehow. How is wanting to be like the Cruxshadows any different from wanting to be like Britney Spears?

I LOVE THIS BAND. I am a goth, but more in mentality than dress. This is my favorite song that isn't by the Beatles, and it is just...gorgeous. And who turned me onto the Cruxshadows? My 56-year-old dad. So yeah, the Cruxshadows TRANSCEND.
