Is the entire interview available on the web anywhere? It's incredibly teasing to only have these these brief excerpts from a very fascinating interview.
Stephen King is a great writer who's worth will only be recognised by the literary tossers one hundred years after he dies. He's the EAP of the last 30 years. No one can argue with his output, quality or ability.
Reading, or not reading a book or series of books does neither give nor take from one's personal worth, & you are nothing short of an idiot for making such a statement.
Actually, I can be very charming & witty when I wish to be, but at a coctail party that are mostly frequented by " I'm better than you will ever think about being " types, I would not waste my time or effort on attempting to please the stuffed shirt crowd, snickers.
Behave this way? All that for calling the stuffed shirts out for what most of them really are, & that being anal retentive greedy insecure people who would gladly sell thier mothers if it meant making a buck, lol
If his mother was Frank, was his father, Mary? lolHe's a good writer, but not as good as Dickens — though I guess Stephen would admit to that.

It irritates him to answer that cocktail party question in every interview ("What fucked you up?")...
The interviewer has never read any of King's prefaces I gather.

when he laughed, he kinda resembled jim carrey. And when he smiles, he kinda looks like the grinch.

I love his cheeky little poke at Lawson at the end, 'We both have a particular attraction to that story, right?'

I completely agree! I had an English prof who once said "100 years from now, no one will read Stephen King" ...he couldn't be more wrong
jjyarbo 2 years ago 6
@jjyarbo Your English prof was evidentially as 'wise' as the critics who used to label King a hack, but now stand him next to Dickens. Go figure.
Before I became a writer, I thought King was a genius. Now I am a writer, I KNOW he's a genius.

I can honestly understand him more now than ever. I also relate to him as a writer!
I guess I'd have to say he's my current favorite (although he's hard to follow). I enjoy his movies better!

You are an idiot for taking the statement seriously sir. It was, fairly obviously, a joke.
