  • PLEASE DO A TUTORIAL!!

  • Que hijo'e puta! :-)

Great version and chord voicing! Transposed, but to a key singable by normal people. :-)

  • this has always been one of my favorite songs. you take it somewhere special. Thank you for sharing, exquisite!

  • Really great and thanks for posting. How do I play if I just want accompaniment, you know someone singing along. I assume I just play base chords and hold them. I will try the best I can to follow - your visual keyboard showing what keys to play is awesome.

  • The best part about your playing are the notes that you DON'T play. Spectacular.

  • @MrJazz1024 Thank you so much.

  • One word: beautiful.

  • @adj7388 Thanks!

  • don't know why anyone would click dislike on this....excellent and enjoyable version of a beautiful song..those complaining it's not in the right key can work on transposition :) I've learnt to play piano off of youtube from people like 7note and the gifted jarreau24 who give up their time and talent, for free, to help others - very much appreciated.

  • The little piano at the the top that shows what you're playing, is that using MIDI or what, cause that's awesome! (But that is a serious question. Is it a file that you have?)

  • @11ciwi I use a program called MidiKeyz.

  • is there any sheet music or tutorials for this song?

  • @CarlaWarlaWhoreXD Sorry no sheets or tutorial (yet). Thx.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, I can play the first half confidently now, and working on the second half :)

  • I definitely think this isn't in the right key

  • wat r the basic chords, if u please?

  • What piano are you using?

  • Killer just loved it!

  • i really have no idea how you are able to reach some notes! Im through the first part and onto the chorus and you play a bottom F C and A on top with one hand and im like HUH?!?! I gotta do some adapting to get that chord!

  • @yamyam644 There is always a way around it. If you roll the chord in a rhythmic and deliberate way, it will sound like an artistic choice.

  • bon iver? more like bonnie raitt.

  • love your version of the song! The jazzy riffs were great, and all the retardations and little left hand fills were great! Thanks.(:

  • @duenwegrobbie Thank you!

  • This is amazing.. Please make a tutorial!

  • @fineman14 I hear you.

  • I didn't know what i had and i'm very very sorry, my insecurities caused me to hurt the one i loved and drove her away. I will never forget you....................never.

  • Utterly Beautiful.

    I was your 300th like !

  • @MeganThomasMusic Thank you so much Megan. I appreciate it!

  • Full marks.. top of the class ....sweet, fantastic, played with feeling & emotion......and displayed in a way to help others this well... Thank you.

  • @babcn much appreciated babcn

  • Within The First 2 Seconds I Got Chills.... Guys This Is Slightly Amazing

  • @rakstarr Thanks so much!

  • @7notemode No PROBLEM... Just Please Continue To Do What You DO :)

  • so, i started by looking 4 a boyz ll men song "doin just fine" > i seen they also do a cover of this song > clicked on it and listened 2 it > then i dont know y i decided 2 click on ur video but DAMN THIS IS GOOD!! this is the best piano playing i've EVER heard EVER. i listen 2 alot of what i call "chill grooves", and this is now my #1 Chill Groove. my mom loves the original version of this song, but wait til she hears urs. ---Happy Holidays. would like 2 hear some "chill" xmas grooves from u.

  • @Vinylskill Ha! Thx!

  • Do you have a midi file of this?

  • This is amazing!

  • LOL in the side bar i tought you had a church organ, i was like WTF

    nice vid :)

  • what key are you in?

  • @austinapalooza1 He's playing in F major :)

  • any way you can list the chords trying to learn song

  • Is this how Bon Iver plays it too?! :O or the other way lol

  • u are beyond amazing

  • this is amazing, you have made the song yours :), would love to see some sheet music. :)

  • Just beautiful!! Love how you made this song your own. You are truly talented and blessed!!

  • This is music. I wish I could play half this good.

  • The stuff you do with your left hand, mate... what a stretch! it hurts, doesn't it? :-)

  • @edcollante I have stretchy fingers! :-)

  • great but lost the feeeling somewhere.

  • Bruce Hornsby is my idol. You rival him! I'd love to see YOU in concert! Improv is the truest artform for music. It's my "crack". ;-)

  • @tennwalk67 Thanks!

  • BON IVER :)

  • @snij64 why? now listen to sophie milman, lucie silvas, tank, nancy wilson, and of course BONNIE RAITT do this song.

  • @AuraStudios It was only because bon iver did a cover of it recently and I'm sure a lot of people wanted to know how he played it, I certainly did so I looked for this! I know bonnie raitt did this song originally :)

  • Another fantastic tune, thank you 7notemode, you truly are a magic keyboard star!!

  • i have a video to dis song, i used ur piano cover at da begging , dont beat me up lol anyway tell me what u think, i loved ur piano cover

  • @MarstevionAustin I just commented on your terrific video!

  • tutoriaaaaaaaaal! pleaaaaaaaaaaase! :D

  • @ImmaStarx Ha! Thanks!

  • Very, very nice!

  • Really love how you play it :)

  • fantastic wow

  • I never comment on videos but because of the way you played that I can't help but be compelled! Just beautiful! I've literally listened to it all day whilst I've been revising. I play piano myself and could only wish to have the sensitive off beats and blues inspired playing that you possess. Keep up the good work mate.

  • Nice changes man.

  • Dude. You went sour

  • that was beautiful

  • 2:53 - 2:55 on bass G E D C B great . thank you very much.

  • I have played guitar since 1967. In recent years, I have been trying to teach myself some keyboard. Your videos are the most helpful resource that I have yet to come across. The overhead view and the animated keyboard above make it easy to follow. Suggestion: The videos where the animated keboard shows the notes in blue make it possible to see the black keys being played. Please use blue. Wonderful work! Thanks so much!

  • @tributepage Thanks! I'm using MidiKeyz for the digital keyboard now.

  • Amazing! Do you happen to have the sheet music for this the way you are playing it?

  • @musicianscotland Thx. Sorry, no sheets.

  • Simply a wonderful idea. Greetings from Sicily. Bravo!

  • @harmonicsinger Thanks for listening!

  • some parts of this are sheer brilliance

  • @Special162 Thanks.

  • That was fantastic.

  • awesome lesson....u took it slow like one should if they are trying to show someone how to learn. Thanks. I'm no musician but i catch on fast. ;)

  • has anyone seen brick?

  • AMAZING!

  • OHH SHEITE!

  • This would be PERFECT if it were in the right key. I need to know the chords in the proper key. Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial like this in the original key?

  • @Featherpen0517 In which key do u want to play it in? Bonnie sings it in Bb major, George Michael in G major.

  • I love it. Beautiful!

  • Beautiful!!!

Could you tell me which maker do you play?? (about your piano)

  • Tutorial! or sheet music please!

  • Beautiful! Just beautiful.........

  • SPECTACULAR!

  • Superb version, thanks for sharing!

  • if i had 100k dollars i'd pay u to play it again with just two things [a metronome] and just a little more [improv] . your jazz licks and runs are awesome. still its the best i've heard on you tube. LOVE IT!!

  • @blmastiff I hope you make/find/win $100,000; and soon! :-)

  • that was AMAZING! seriousley

  • @Soulsurfer1 Thanks alot!

  • Beautifully interpreted. Thanks.

  • The idea for the song came to Mike Reid while reading an article about a man arrested for getting drunk and shooting at his girlfriend's car. The judge asked him if he had learned anything, to which he replied, "I learned, Your Honor, that you can't make a woman love you if she don't."

  • Nice one mate.

I still play a Roland -- from the 90's Nice tone. (Yours)

    You captured this song perfectly.

    Cheers,

    James

  • I've heard a story about the writer- rumor has it that he murdered his lover. Now THAT'S sad..

  • Great timing. I can sing and learn to play at the same time without losing the feeling. Thanks!

  • Very nice....thank you for sharing so generously

  • Did u get the sheet music off the internet? Music store? Better yet did u play it by ear? I really want to play this sooooo badly! I've been playing piano for 8 years now but my teacher has me on strictly classical music and I want to play songs like this on my own time. Do you have any information on how I can get the sheet music for this, for free?

  • Thanks for sharing this, it's made my day!

  • Thank you for sharing this - such fabulous voicings - made my day! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

  • I agree with Jazz ChrisPL - thanks for sharing this - thank you thank you thank you!! :-))))))))

  • Wow! Very beautifully played dynamically and wonderful voicings! Gets across the message of the song very well. Thanks for posting!

  • Sweet.

  • beautifull thanks!

  • Not really off the path for me, 7notemode. I'm a Gospel and Jazz singer and I love the voicings (not sure if that's a word) of the song. Crazy [Willie Nelson] is the same way and I've been talking about doing a big band arrangement of that for years! Considering I've never arranged -- it may be another few years. (LOL)

    Anyway, thanks for the treat!

    Sincerely,

    Iva

  • Just as it should be ... both Bonnie and Bruce would love what you have sculpted with your hands ... great interpretation! Michael T.

  • Hah! nice thumb bar @ 2:59. I though I was the only one who did that (usually inadvertently). Very pretty reading, friend, and true to the spirit and technique of the original.

Currently struggling with Hornsby's "Harbor Lights"; delicious chords!

  • Keys on top of the screen [...] how?

  • GarageBand and ScreenFlow for Mac :-)

  • i spent all day here ur an amazing person too bad u dont gig anywhere... little tournee over Europe maybe huh? ... :)) Merry Christmas.

  • Thanks JazzChriss :-)

  • This is pure joy, 7notemode! Have you heard Adam Lambert's rendition? His talent is so far beyond his years it's truly amazing to hear him sing this song! I would love to know what you think!

  • Very, very nice. I want to be able to play just like you! I really love this song. Thanks for posting- and great job with the video. Very creative.

  • what are your system specs? I'm running XP pro w/ 4GB of ram and a 5400rpm drive, 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo, and synthogy still seems to have considerably large latency. :\

    help?

  • I use Mac, so not applicable, but your samples need to be on a separate RAID drive. That is probably the bottleneck. Check support on Synthogy's website.

  • thanks man! actually i'm on a MBP, and i can't get ilok to work (because of the leopard update), so i'm stuck with bootcamping and ivory in XP :\

    are you on RAID 0?

  • awsome version! an all time favorite played fantastic! thanks heaps!

  • Wow sir...You are most def an inspiration!! Awesome work and thanks for sharing one of my all time favorites....I hope be as good as your are one day! Gonna go practice some more right now :-)

  • what piano sound source?? ivory ,,

    pianoteq,, Quantumleap?

  • Ivory Steinway

  • amen brother! Ivory is so good...

  • Grazie. It is a long time i try to do this.

My be now it will be easyer.

    Thanks again.

  • merci monsieur, vous avez faites une tres tres bonne job, my first time listening to your rendition, nicely interpreted...just so hard for my oh so talented voice to improve with you, ha!, merci mon ami!

  • Merci pour votre very nice mots, RMZ :-)

  • awsome

  • beautiful

  • Great video! I'm very impressed by your interpretation. My one piece of criticism, and this isn't aimed at you but rather your software program, is that when you hit black keys they turn grey on the above keyboard, making it difficult to determine which key (if any) you hit. Other than that, fantastic!

  • I'm looking for another solution for the digital keys. That is the GarageBand keyboard, which isn't very clear.

  • wow you are awesome. thank you for putting this up here like this! i'm gonna go play for a few hrs now :)

  • Thanks flanikkin07

  • LOL your piano playing put me to sleep all night. Woke up the next morning with my computer still on. :) proves that you are AWESOME!

  • you of the best iwant to just life= like a lot so keep playin

  • Sweet Sweet Sounds. I love it!

  • this was amazing! someone who reaally knows how to play (unlike myself atm) im taking a leap out of your book and learning as we speak! :D (well as i type) kinda..lol i dont even no what to say...it was inspirational! :) literally

  • Thanks Jadey, I aprreciate it.

  • where do i get lead sheet w/melody and corde notations?

  • Wonderful!

  • i'm quite intent on learning this, but i'm really not good enough to do it purely by ear; how do you suggest i go about it?

  • battmem, It's probably better to download a lead sheet with the melody and chord notation and try embellishing from there.

  • I see some of your church influence in the left hand of this song. You do a great job 7notemode with all your songs. I play at a local restaurant, and look for other's help on songs I play or am learning. Having fun learning from ya!

  • Thanks luvemaliam.

  • Your commentary said it all very well. For me, a little to depressing but an interesting song. I'd play it for anyone who would ask.

  • Great interpretation;has a George Winston feel, but not at all repetitive.Nice job.

  • checked again..guess you do play the Bb in the bass !...5=F, 6=G, 9=C, 3=D thanks

  • Greetings very nice..out of curosity ..how do you look at the chord at 0:33 ..FFGCD..F13?ish..thanks

  • guitarharpsichord, If I have the right chord, it has a Bb in the low bass which would make it Bb major with a 6 and 9 in it.

  • Fabulous. I love your videos.

  • I can't find a word to describe this interpretation of you!!!

    Wonderful

    Respect straight from Germany

  • Thank you dallas168.

  • Hi Tom,

Great feeling of space and your usual masterly dynamics and timing. I agree it's a great song. I loved this very unique performance. Cheers, Jon

  • Thanks, Jon. Who's MG?

  • Hi, how do you mean 'MG'? :)

  • Ahhh, sorry. I clicked on reply to MusicGearhead who posted a comment below. Sorry for any confusion. I was suggesting he didn't break off his music studies

  • It's your call of course MG but I stopped at 16 and resumed at 35 b and I bitterly regretted not continuing. It's taken me 5 years to get back to where I left off. Cheers, J

  • This is a 5 star video, but I accidentally rated it as 1...if you knew the issues I have w/ my computer you would understand...sorry about that

  • No problem, glad you enjoyed it, Quimarlee.

  • Wow...love it...very nice interpretation of an already emotional song!

  • Beautiful, as usual. I really like the display at the top, very helpful to "try" to learn!

  • I've always loved this tune and now I love it more. Excellent

  • love this video

  • beautiful, love the chords, I play by ear but very pedestrian, need to learn some more interesting chord sequences!

  • Very beautifull

  • 7:Beautifully done and as always you always bring something new to the table. I hear the tune through new ears when your fingers work the keys.

    -Klav

  • I love this song, and the way you play it, although I didn't know it before.

    Thanks for posting

  • Man, you took a sad song and made it even sadder. ( I mean that in a nice way) Very touching. Excuse me while I cry in my beer.

  • speechless!!

  • Dude, THIS IS OFF THE HIZZY!!!! :D This is really off the hook stuff ... thanx man!!!! I am in the process of learning to play this song, watch this space, will post video response in the next few weeks or so :) still learning to play so takes a while for me... But truly amazing rendition!!!! AWESUM is an understatement... :)
