I would greatly appreciate it if everyone could check out my video of my baby turtles and subscribe!!! I will also be coming out with new videos in the future!! thanks!!
Beautiful tank and turtles! I noticed the sandy\rocky substrate. How do you clean it? And how often do you clean the tank? Also where did you purchase your turtles from?
Man, I like those. I have a Red Eared Slider, and Im thinking of getting 3 more turtles, each different aquatic turtles. I'm debating on Cooter, Map and Painted turtles, But now I'm considering getting a Musk. I don't want anymore than 4. Do they have pretty much the same needs as a RES?
2 things how did u get the lime on the stones? and arnt you scared have to musks in the same tank? you know they will kill each other.... like in mateing he will kill the feaml by biting her cuz there heads cant go in the shell. or when theres 2 males they always fight to be the boss of the tank
Hi, Nice video, I have just set up a 5x2x2 100 gallon turtle tank for my 2 maps and a yellow bellied slider, When they outgrow me i want to get some razor backs, Can you tell me, Are they active alot during the day? Do they spend much time in the water or more time basking?
@TheDwanedibley Thanks! They are pretty lazy during the day and become active in the evening mostly. Ours have never ever come out of the water to bask, at most they stick their head out of the water, but they actively try to keep the shell under. We actually removed the basking area because they do not use it anyway, maybe rebuild in a year or so to see whether the behavior changed.
@MrMegashmoo Hi! Yes they are Tetras, somehow the turtles never bother them, I think it's because the tetras are so quick. We did have a few "disappear" over the years, but my theory is that they only get eaten when they are sick and become slow/start to drift around. Tetras are a great match for Razorbacks, and also: They are cheap! :)
@topspeed0707 Thank you! The gravel is standard aquarium gravel (for fish) mixed with fine aquarium sand, seems to do the job very well. The rocks are randomly found outside mostly. When we see a nice rock we cook it for a few minutes in boiling water to make sure it's clean, then you can just put them in the aquarium with no prob.
@Britoe97 i generally feed my turtles reptomin about two sticks a day and a few pcs dry shrimp/ fish. some times i give them lettuce but they dont really eat that, btw they do chew on my aquatic plants every now n then.
@KRAEN666 I mixed up standard aquarium gravel with aquarium sand, it works great. Just the sand looks messy quick, but just rocks makes it undiggable for the turtles. A combination keeps the turtles happy and makes it look clean.
Love your turts and your video. I am planning on buying one and i researched it and can you give me some care advice ? and the enclosure is the zoo med turtle tun kit so it will be great for him i want a male cuz they stay relatively small. Please reply i will make video of my turtle tub soon anyone can check it out. I currently have a 2" RES, and a 3.5" african sideneck. I also have a sulcat tortoise video.
i like the algae the most ive raised turtles of all kinds of breeds for years and that algae is the coolest shit i ever seen in a tank. im setting up my 145gallon with a couple baby snake necks and i want that natural look. nice set up shy turtles r funny
@MajorStiffy1 Eheim Ecco Pro 250. Nice quiet pump. We changed the filtration material to just cotton wool, because the bio filter stuff doesn't seem to do anything for turtles. Also I added a 11w UVC filter to keep algae down.
why do you need to get rid of the algae ? i would just clean it if it comes on the glass i heard they love it when they have algae on their backs and stones etc
@nafaka12 It tends to get a bit excessive after a while. But you are right, the turtles don't mind, still, the owners also want something nice to look at :)
I think its a male, but we are not sure about the sex, they are not fully developed yet, so it's hard to tell. The cause for the algae is not entirely known, but I think it's a combination of the wrong light (we have daylight tubes, not aquarium tubes), long light (we light from 7 till 9) and also there is a lot of mess in the water because of the turtles feeding the way they do.
@LoveFromBelgium They go for about 30-60 euros, but the running costs are pretty high. You'll need a good tank setup (light, pump, gravel, etc), this will cost something between 200 and 500 euros, depending on how well/big you do it.
will they eat your fish?

and how do you clean your tank? i would like to see a video if it isnt to much to ask
nafaka12 11 months ago
@nafaka12 Hi, to clean it i use a vacuum hose, just vacuum the bottom of the tank a bit. Every three weeks I replace 50% of the water.
