16 dislikes??? Petty, jealous classical guitar nerds....on behalf of the real world please stop polluting these kind of amazing perfomers' videos with your negativity, it's so sad and cliche! I mean if somebody's shite sure dislike it but not if they're obviously awesome like this guy, come on!
This piece is crazy difficult!!! Amazing playing, but I agree that the valsana movement should be slower. I was hoping to hear the entire piece ; where's the fist movement?
Dimitri plays a guitar by the German Maker Dietrich and he uses Savarez strings on it.If you like his playing as much as I do... go to his web-page ...
There is a link to his brilliant CD "East Side Story" which is absolutely worth listening to.
Dimitri plays so clear it is unbelievable!!! I heard him live in miami and he just left me in awe with this toccata. The 16th note counterpoint against the main motif of the piece is so clear. I do not know how he does it. The intervallic line after the introduction of the second motif has very well placed accents. I also love the bartok pizzicato that he added; it reminds me of Leo's Sonata. This is the best interpretation I have heard besides Alieksey!
I'm working on "Aquarelle" currently. Comments on Mr Illarinov's performance here"
Pros:
- Fiery approach in the third movement
Cons:
- Inconsistent interpretation - I thought the rhythms were an intrinsic and essential part of the writing - too much unexpected rubato here!
- Flubs, flubs, serious flubs - sure, they happen to all of us, but why allow them to go out on Youtube?

Great player, what disrespect he is a virtuoso.

A virtuoso is someone who interprets music by other composer. Why do you think that (eastonmackay) disprespects him?

why does this piece work for him ?
Because you can't stop a joyus player no matter what.
This mans face showing the joy , and his playing showing it too.
pray he doesn't find out what an electric guitar is.
if he did our gooses would be cooked.
