There are many women composers that were very famous and some performed in the most prestigious courts but society always focuses more on men composers (Mozart, Haydn, Bach family, etc.)
The composer is Maria Theresia von Paradis (1759-1824). She was Austrian and a friend of Mozart. It is believed that Mozart probably wrote his piano concerto (No. 18) for her. As a very young child (around age 3) she lost her eyesight. A doctor was able to improve her eyesight but only temporarily. She toured Europe and London, performing brilliantly. She also taught and then composed. -- Some play this melody quickly and destroy its beauty. This is how it is meant to be played.
Mozart wrote it for Maria Paradis. Its his k456 concerto in Bflat on Piano. Anyway, Does anyone know where I can get this piece? I'm dying to learn it
i have to play this 4 cello grade 6, i probably will end up not doin it tho, i dont even know how i got this far cus i'm crap at it, this is a chooon tho
@crazybuslive If you have reached grade six then you have done well. The cello is not a simple instrument to learn but the sound produced is very special. This is a most beautiful piece. If it touches your heart then make it yours. Don't worry about the grades. Just learn pieces of music that you love the sound of and you will naturally progress without you realising it. Don't become stale. Best wishes Andy.
This is a beautiful song to play on violin, there is so much about it that when you play it just brings out this emotion in you that i can't explain. She's great! This sounds really good when it's the piano and violin together!
I believe it was originally written for violin and piano. Some say the piece was written by Samuel Dushkin, others say it was Paradis and Dushkin only discovered the work. But usually Paradis gets the credit for this piece.

Je ne savais pas qu'elle était la femme de Daniel Barenboim et qu'elle a malheureusement décédé à l'âge de 42 ans. Quelle perte!

This is such a moving interpretation of this piece...it shows the power of understatement in the hands of a great artist. Thanks for posting.

Very Nice...it's great, whoever wrote it.

Yes, I believe whoever composed it wanted the listeners to enjoy the music. They probably didn't want musicologists fighting about who composed it...

there are too many male composers - well, famous ones...

@silvr94 If they are good, It doesn't matter if they are men or women. But it would be nice if there were more female composers.
