  • This would help if watch it didn't make me puke.

  • Thanks Once again for a great and helpful tutorial. Today I was making up some really cool (If I say so myself ) scrapbook backgrounds and needed to find out how to do some wavy text. So was a happy happy person to find your tutorial. As always easy to understand so had to say THANKYOU !!!!!! a life saver again.... Keep up the good work you do for all of us out here. Take Care..

  • I was the person who bombed with 4 messages to make this tutorial :D

  • IQ...Do you even know what that means...and your opinion is the only valid opinion...in YOUR opinion...moron.

  • People people people, he ISNT 10 years old nor is he a small brat, LOOK AT THE DATE this WAS POSTED ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ such IQ from the public of the worldwide web, jeez. he did his best not his fault you failed NOT to listen. or missed any steps. there's tons of tutorials on youtube, hes not the only one duh.

  • @Laszroth right and everyone who watched this watched another tutorial that actually explains what to do unlike this piece of shit, what are you his mother?

  • Wow, Really? This person sounds like he is 10 years old and needs a seditive. Why even bother listening to him/her. A waste of time.

  • @nwchance

looks like you need a sedative mate. Relax. He did a great job and explained this very well.

  • @nwchance and you are a moron, have you NOT look at the date? (march 19, 2009) by that time he WAS a kid...not now so please do not derespect someone by their voice or their looks, you are not perfect yourself.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks :3 Really helped me !

  • GimpKnowHow,

As much as I love your demonstrations and your knowledge of GIMP is tremendous, my only question is: "Is there any way you could SLOW down just a bit?

I realize that there is much to be done in a short time, but like some have said a person can get car sick trying to follow you around.

Other than that I do sincerely wish to thank you for all of your videos. It has been of great help as I can learn better from seeing than from reading how something is done!

  • wow. i needed nausea medication while watching this. other than the severe motion sickness it's an okay monkey see monkey do video ... if the monkey can keep up visually speaking. : )

  • @Krowe2020 ps. i did subscribe b/c i'm wondering if the rest of your videos move as quickly.... curiosity ... did what to the cat?? lol kidding ... i do appreciate your making videos at least ~ it's certainly more than i can say.

  • Thank you so much! This helped me design a custom bottle cap for my homebrew beer! :)

  • You need to learn the difference between a tutorial and a demonstration, you skipped multiple (important) steps, the camera moves too fast, you assume people know too much and the list goes on. 0 out of 5 in terms of helpfulness since I basically had to teach myself how to do this, god help someone who's never used photoshop trying to learn from this "tutorial".

  • @CTTMOGK LOL photoshop blows.

  • @CTTMOGK & YOU need to learn respect, he did his best not HIS fault you fail to learn....even a simple MONKEY to do this...compared to photo GIMP is easy and user friendly..photoshop has more con's than pros i should know because i TRIED photoshit...i mean photoshop..i trashed it over gimp...enough said.

  • @Laszroth Stop whining bitch.

  • I couldn't even pay attention to the video because of the intro of it xD It's the same music Hotforwords uses XD bahahaha

  • by the way good video what program you use to make your videos?

  • Thanks GKH. Glad I've discovered your videos. Can't wait to learn more.

  • how did you get your gimp windows to look like that.I want my gimp windows to look like yours..tell me how please.

  • Very helpful! (:

  • Nice one, thanks.

  • Thanks for the help. I probably won't remember how to do it again, but it really helped me today. :)

  • Very to-the-point. I like it.

  • no doubt you know gimp well good for you but i will be looking to learn from someone else because you go so fast its like you are trying to teach only those at your level. good luck

  • I feel stupid when learning things from a minor ._. GJ, like your tutorials GimpKnowHow ;)

  • Super useful, with a lot more versatility than distort. Thanks for putting this together, really saved my bacon on a deadline

  • Why not just Use the Curve Bend tool for more precision? Under filter> Distort

  • how do you put your text in a perfect circle?

Can anybody please help me out?

Or how do you create a complete circle path?

  • I think it is a great tutorial and this guy is very talented.

  • I appreciate your teaching, but you move around the screen too quickly. The screen was moving around all over the place - it made me dizzy - not to mention confused of what you were doing and what button you were going to click on. Also you talked too fast. This would be good I'm sure if you would talk slower, move your courser slower and be more precise to exactly where you are going to point (do not search and point/click). Take it step by step - SLOWLY! Thank You

  • Im sure this is a really stupid question with an obvious answer but why does it have a weird perspective thing going on? How do I get rid of the erspective and just make normal curved text? It seems such an easy thing to do but I cannot do itttttt :/

  • @Zefling23 filtes, distorts, curve bend

  • I had to watch this several times, and write down the steps. Too much is assumed that you know (I figure it out), the camera jumps too much and it's hard to see what he's doing, he makes mistakes which add to the confusion. But it's free. And at least, although he speaks fast, he's understandable. However, there's no competition. This video is the only one I could find on the topic. It's unnecessarily time-wasting because of skipping steps. Tutorials are not this "kid's" strength.

  • how do you get rid of the selection once done

  • Got way lost on how to delete the original writing. I got the curved one i want but the original one is still on there.

  • @jamier1306 you have to create a new layer, he does it at 2:06

  • Damn kid your good. lol

  • Thanks buddy... helped a lot !

  • Thanks! I *heart* GIMP, but it's not that user-intuitive. I knew the answer had to be something easy, and it was!

  • Thanks a million!

  • This helped out BIG-TIME!!! Thankx alot

  • thank you

  • 0:25 WoW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/

  • WICKED im gonna try this :D

  • Wow your names GimpKnowHOw your parents didnt have a choice, now did they.

  • Thanks, subbed

  • how bout making text cicular?

  • Is there any way to add a black border to the text once curved?

  • Thanks for the video, very helpful and to the point. Thanks again! :3

  • KUPAL KA!

  • What version of GIMP is this?

It looks a little different than v2.6, for example in v2.6 you don't have to add a Paths tab because there is a tab for Paths already by default.

Just wondering which version of GIMP you were using for this video.

  • nice vid intro did u use sony vegas

  • why in the fuck are you talking so damn fast omg we're learning not pro's wtf...

  • @GeishaBoiTv1 It's a YouTube video online...You're welcome to watch it over and over again and even pause it. Even if the tutor talks fast, you should be able to get the information by watching the video several times. Honestly, that's what I had to do. I don't think it's a big deal. Pause, rewind, repeat...that should help you to learn the information.

  • when i try to move it it takes the background with it. I need help please.

  • @FuZExGamers I'm certainly no GIMP expert but I think if you make a separate layer for each thing you are adding to the image, you should be able to move a layer around without moving all the other layers with it. Like the video said, make a separate layer for your text...Don't put the text on your base layer (the base layer is the background image). Like I said, I'm no expert; I'm pretty new to GIMP, but I think using layers might solve your problem.

  • ok I get how to place but I dont know how to move it into a spot I want...

  • Thank you very much!!! I love your video. Intelligent boy.

  • I tried it on top of a picture but when I tried moving it around it moved the picture around. Sometimes only the text moved but I don't know what I was doing. Also once I've created the curved text I can't reshape the curving to fit the text where I want.

  • You sound very young. How humbling to have a teacher younger than me. I've been struggling with this effect, I'm going to try again!

  • makes me want a Mac...nice screen look I am going to try this. BRB

  • I feel that we should save the "J" sound for the letter J. The letter "G" should have a G sound.

I understand that we live in a careless, sloppy era when people don't care about anything.

  • Whenever I do the Text to path step, I'm left with two purple lines that trace to the upper left corner of the image, and when I fill in the text, that fills in as well. What am I doing wrong?

  • @Grammaton485

me too, same problem, though not every time. would love to know how I am doing this--or rather why it happens!

  • @desumavis I think I got it. If the text is too big, or if it runs off of the path due to its length, GIMP will place it to the upper corner or something. That's what creates those lines. Make sure your path is long enough for your text, or use spaces to align it where you want on the path.

  • That's a great tutorial, thanks for the help. I need to learn how to arch text, a bit different than curving. Is this possible?

  • That's a great tutorial, thanks for the help. I need to learn how to arch text, a bit different than curving. Is this possible?

  • very helpful thx

  • Most of the younger people's voices I cant stand for two seconds in tutorials, but for whatever reason yours makes me feel so safe and informed.

    Keep it up

  • how do i rate 5 thumbs?

  • wuts the song in the ending :O

  • how do I change the direction of the curve? so that the curve is under the circle instead of on top.

  • @javaholic5 Just change the direction of your path. Instead of pulling it up, push it down.

  • thanks

  • oh god, youre 13 and youreteaching to me. World runs fast.

    Anyway thanks.

  • how do you make bubble letters?

  • Is there a way to edit the curved text after you've placed it on the path? I can't seem to adjust it :(

  • @asymptote9x no you can't :(

  • Lousy teacher - please redo your videos when you screw up.

  • this was very hard to follow. Def not for the intermediate user and basics should just stay away! You did a great job with bending the test and you are super fast...but this video is NOT for most users. Thanks anyway..

  • helpful video but the camera moved a lot and it's too fast..can't catch it.

  • anyone know how to make twitter font without downloading the text font.

  • why is it whenever i do it ok im doing everything right but when i want to color it...the outline of the path is still vissible making the text color look all weird ya know? is there a way to take that off or do i have to manually do it?

  • I show you in the video how to take it off. Uncheck the little eye button in the paths dialog.

  • @GimpKnowHow No it doesn't. At least not in the latest version of Gimp.

  • Great tutorial, helped me out so much!

What was the song you used at the start?
