I think the reason they changed the title screen is that... the scenes they cut out have the Shadowkhan in them, and that doesn't make sense anymore since Tarakudo, the 9 Oni Generals, and all of the Shadowkhan are imprisoned in a mask now.

The Eight Immortals that the show uses are actual characters in Chinese mythology and are considered to be signs of longevity and prosperity. Each Immortal's power could also be transferred to a power tool that can give life or destroy evil. So I suppose you could say that the symbols have mystical properties just from being used by the Immortals or actually possess remnants of the Immortals' powers.

Or the demon chi keeps them shiny. Either way.

Some of the episodes are quite disturbing. Some people just are not cut out to be mixed with demon chi. I mean Jade with the Wind Demon chi was "creepy." The only combination that is not as weird in my opinion is when Drago is combined with those chis.
