wow, can you drive this with a normal license or you have to have a commercial license for this , man,,, i love this stuff, i wanted one but dont know if i need a class b or a license..... please inform thank you
@corollatime This you have to have a class A license to drive this in California. I don't know about other states. This has air brakes which makes the class A training needed. My advice if you decide to get one, do A LOT of research. These things are cool but not lways easy to drive or work on. Also, you might want to also consider looking up (here on youtube) the M816 Wrecker. A less advanced and easier to work on version. Thanks for commenting.
The M936 5 ton vehicle is an awesome piece of equipment. I drove one almost everyday in the Marine Corps. That thing can recover almost anything in the mud and flip over a Humvee like a tin can.
Hi Themilitarynut nice that you found a M936 5 ton wrecker. The reason why they went with this model is, one to update their fleet, two if you did not know, this truck is an automatic and not a manual transmission. and third it has a little bit more HP. The M543a2 was 210, M816 is 250 and M936 is 270 HP travel speed is 65 compared to 58 in the M816 and M543a2 is 55 mph. I am in the process of putting a Cummins Ntc240 and a five speed Eaton fuller T-905 transmission in my M543a2. Nice video
It's actually a M936 5 ton wrecker. Basically, there was the original M816 but when they started to show their age, the military upgraded to the M930 series trucks, the M936 was made to replace it.
@edzgarage It's a recovery vehicle but not for tanks (those are to heavy). A recovery vehicle for tanks will be with tracks and a weight at least 40 ton. This recovery truck is more for vehicles like humvee and light trucks and can pull a max weight of 10 ton. ;-) It's a awesome truck for sure. but look up the actros mercedes recovery vehicle.
@glendelio I don't mean to start a fight and mostly you're right but I have to voice a correction on one issue. It's got a 44,000 pound winch that can be doubled up using a snatch block. That combined with the anchors on the back anchored in to the ground, that thing could pull 20, maybe 30 tons. Maybe even more if enough snatch blocks are used. But without the snatch blocks, maybe 20 tons of pulling is the limit. I looked up that Recovery vehicle, that's one awesome rig. Nice choice.
@TheMilitarynut sorry I wasn't 100% sure of the exact weight but i believe you. This 10 t was with the crane the truck it self will pull much more weight that's true. It's imagine how close it's performance is with the actros. I thought it was alot less.
M936A2. They are very nice, just the junk at camp shelby ruins them.

@Beun007 This truck wasn't made in WWII. This wasn't even used in Vietnam. This was made in the 80's.

its ok i towed a greyhound bus thru sand with it, i towed many 113 apcs with it, but unlike the 813 it wont yank the engine from a m60 tank.
