  • Minnesota should have one this game, the game the year before was one for the barf bag up 28-7 going into the 4th and lose, too bad Jerry Kill wasnt our coach

Edwards was beast. A lot of future NFL guys on both sides Avant, Edwards, Maroney, Barber, Spaeth. Glen Mason was not good game day coach

  • maroneys td is sick

  • im so pumped for this years team!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2004 had some thrilling games

  • In every season I've watched Michigan, we always manage to give up big runs up the middle, and that pisses me off soooooooooo much!

    Go Blue!

  • yeah but every team does that! at least michigan usually wins unlike msu

  • I was there, and after that winning touchdown, you couldn't hear yourself scream.

  • same here. that seems like forever ago doesn't it?

  • Nice backflip from braylon lol

  • I wish we could get back to pasting these guys like we did in the 90's. 63-13, 52-16, 58-7, 52-6.....

  • This was my one of the most memorable games I ever attended. GO BLUE!

  • what i like about this game is that this was mike hart's breakout game and really took off from here on out

  • I was at this game!! Two free tickets on the 50-yard line, row 39. This game was the best. Every play we stood up to watch the Wolverines win. That winning touchdown by Tyler Ecker was the greatest play I've seen at a UM football game.

Get "Michigan Football" with Tom Brady on the cover. They have two photos of this game. Both with Braylon Edwards (Ecker is blocking him in one photo). I bought the book in under ten seconds. A keepsake to any Michigan fan. Go BLUE! Hail to the Victors!

  • Does anyone know of the name of that little abc-espn college football theme that starts at 3:49....nothing says football like that thing does

  • For this game, I will always remember the name Tyler Ecker.

  • look up the nebraska vs um game. then you will really remember the name tyler ecker

  • I guess (since he was knocked out of bounds), but still the whole team touched the ball on that play.

  • Why was Leon Hall returning punts in this game?

  • because Steve Breaston was injured. Hall also returned punts against indiana in 2004, and he had a 76 yard PR for a touchdown

  • Also, i don't understand why Michigan didn't run that diamond formation more often with steve Breaston and Mario Manningham. That so formation was so effective, but this was the only game they used it.

  • Actually, they used that formation a few times in the game vs. Florida in the Capital One Bowl. But I agree with you, they should've used that formation more often. As usual, Carr, never thinks about what works.

  • Come to think of it, they DID run that diamond formation once...on Carson Butlers 65 yard reception

  • I want RR to run that formation at times, I like that formation a lot!

  • that was terry malone calling the plays that year, mike debord would never run a play besides zone left

  • Id take DeBord over Malone any day. Plus id rather have English over Herrmann anyday as well. In 05 both were inconsistent and we can all agree it was time for a change.

  • This was the game where Mike Hart introduced himself to the college football world. Go Blue!

  • This was quite a day...I was at this game, my brother was at the USC-Cal game in L.A., my dad was at OU-Texas in Dallas, and I had some friends at the OSU-Wisconsin game in Cbus. Quite an experience calling those folks on my cell phone for updates.

  • I was in the end Zone seats where Ecker scored at the end of the game

  • thanks putting my request on

  • another great defense by coach carr...except in 97 m defense was a joke

  • This 2004 Minnesota-Michigan game was the first live game televised on ESPN Classic. It was also simulcast on ESPN.

  • Bless you Historian! I was hoping this would be one of the next ones you put up. :)

  • Probably one of the best games I've seen. I was jumping up and down on the last touchdown, very unmature like!!!

  • nice flip by braylon at the end

  • what a perfect fade route/pass, that was beutiful.

  • I agree wonderful play.

  • wait, how did we play them at home two years in a row?

  • Because we played them 2 years in a row in Minneapolis in 02 and 03. With the uneven number of teams in the Big Ten, that happens every so often.

  • How do you think the Wolverines are gonna be for the 2008 season? I'm not sure I like the Rodriguez system, and they will have a very young team, it could be a down year for the my Wolverines. What do you think?

  • Honestly...I'm dreading this season. Brand new coach, system, QB, running back...it's not going to be pretty.

  • if they beat utah then i think they will have a 8 or 9 game win season cause utah could be a bcs team this year. The offense is going to worry me greatly but the defense will be one of the best in the country

  • it won't be as bad as you think, in fact i think you'll be pleasantly surprised

  • WolverineHistorian, do you have a vid of the '99 Michigan-Wisconsin game when Michigan beat Wisconsin up in Madison?

  • You're the third person who has asked for that game.

Yes. I plan on doing that one next.

  • first to view nice work
