I think it comes down to setting down the rules.

People can play the worlds smallest violin and say yeah... it his last year as a college football player... he's a father of 1 child so this could effect the rest of his football career...etc.

but the fact of the matter is Blount had already a history of misconduct, and was not a model football player for kids who aspire to play football.

If they reinstate him, it would set presedence that you can punch someone and get away with it.
