  • what is the name of the game?

  • @talzeraviv In the US, the game is know as just "Nostalgia". The dropped the Winds of when localizing it.

  • @granvillimus for what console is it?

  • @talzeraviv Nintendo DS. You could have read the description to find that out.

  • this game looks great.... Kinda reminds me of Wild Arms II, which was one of the best RPG I've ever played....

  • Looks like a blatant FFIII DS clone!

  • Looks awsome,is there already an english version?

  • @LucasGenesis Yeah, the English version came out last year titled simply Nostalgia.

  • I played this for a few hours and it was truly a snore fest, not to mention the designs were hideous

    Everybody should avoid this game

  • No they shouldn't. It's a great old school style RPG that most people love. People shouldn't avoid it because YOU didn't like it, it's a great game. And not even boring.

  • You want great old school style RPG's play the dragon quest remakes, etrian oddysey, or the dark spire.

This game not so much. It's like a tribute to the bad JRPGs from the snes/ps1 era

  • Any of those games OR this game would be great for old school RPG's. This is a tribute to games like Final Fantasy, Lufia, and Dragon Quest. If you think any of those are bad however...

  • i agree this game was good, it was a old school rpg and i like those games, also the ship battles reminded me of skies of arcaida

  • Too bad you have to be narrow minded about it. But hey. it's your problem if you want to miss out on a good game.

(really though, who refuses to play a game just because it wasn't made by Square Enix?!?)

  • @granvillimus its japanese dammit!!! (lol)

well maybe i'll play, i don't really care if its from SE or not :p

  • this game is still better then any $60 piece of crap that Squeenix has dished out recently

  • so the game sucks because you can't win...?

  • Level 7?????

  • It looks like Dragon Quest 9

  • Just got the game, and it's awesome!

  • I wonder if FFIVDS engine was used, since it looks pretty much the exact same.

  • Indeed it was. Nostalgia was developed by Matrix, who did FF3 and FF4 DS, as well as their own game Avalon Code. All those games, and this one use the same engine.

  • oh. well thank you for confirming that, then.

  • Looks like Evolution from Dreamcast.

  • LOL... staves > guns XD

  • its about that mario RPG NIGGA! seriously im gonna get mario and lugi 3 lolz

  • yeah i got that mario and lugi shit the other day and its mad good.you should get kingdom hearts and this wizard of oz rpg game too because both those games are real good.

  • yeah i herd Kingdom Hearts got 2 PLAYER!

  • yeah it has muti player but i just can't wait to beat kingdom hearts i'm half way threw it.

  • WOW 2 PLAYER...im gonna go get it

  • I hope the battles don't take too long to complete because the battle animations are for every little thing and they go out of the way to show them. Taking 2-3 minutes each battle is very annoying and slows down the game. (Based on other FF games on the ds)

  • its just like skies of arcadia it just depends if you like this sorta thing

  • i prefer easy rpgs like paper mario this might seem laughable to serious rpg fans but i like that u can reduce damage by pressing a but this looks good i might just play it

  • lol easy rpgs with good story....

nothing more fustrating that playing FFVI and dieing on a good story.

  • hey its my old account how u doing self

  • The character's faces are really...mushy...

  • mushy? mean you bad or penis? XD

  • Ugh. I thought we were to the point where we've moved away from this stupid "take two steps and get attacked by enemies" bullshit. Even Final Fantasy is stepping away from this.

  • nice

  • im really glad there are more traditional rpg games being made. Some rpgs these days are straying away from what rpgs are supposed to be, while its always good to try something different, some of them just do it wrong and dissapoint.

  • is there voice acting?

  • I don't believe there is any voice acting. There are some cutscenes with people moving their mouths, but only text appears.

  • aw that sucks...

by this game Im guessing have you played FFCC: Ring of Fates?

now does that have voice acting or just Echoes of Time?

  • Both Ring of Fates and Echoes of Time have voice acting and a lot of it. It is REALLY terrible though IMO (Echoes is better than Ring though). I'm actually glad this game has no voice. They would likely ruin it.

  • yeah cause its new and all, im deciding on buying EoT.

  • im glad there is no voice acting as well. Even though sometimes its nice to hear some voice acting if its well done and the voice dosent sound uber annoying, sometimes its good to leave it up to the imagination what the voice would sound like. Old FF had NO voice acting and theyre the more popular ones haha :)

  • yes there is.

  • I know I know. It was just announced like yesterday, so that's fine that you correct me. I'll remove that comment saying there's no US release. Hehe. Happy am I!

  • Oh that's why the enigine looks so much the ds ffs

  • Yes, this game uses the same exact engine from Final Fantasy 3 DS. With a few optimizations though to get more 3D models onscreen at once. Both this Nostalgia game and Final Fantasy 3 (and 4) DS are developed by Matrix. Cool huh?

  • That can't be good. You know what this means? More level grinding! I can't stand level grinding lol XD

  • Then you are looking at the wrong video and playing the wrong genre of game. All RPG's have grinding.

  • I for one am thrilled at the prospect of a new, old-school turn-based RPG

  • No, all good RPGs don't have intense level grinding.

Level grinding too much can take away a gamers interest. Sure, level grinding is acceptable is certain areas of the game. But when the whole games seems to have too much level grinding, it just seems like you're wasting your time.

It is important that RPGs have the right amount of grinding.

  • Some of the best ranked RPG's have intense level grinding. FF6 and 7 for example. I don't consider FF7 to be the best game I ever played, but others do. As for this one, I had a go with the Japanese version. It's not really at all bad compared to other similar games. I got from level 1 to 10 in just a few rather short minutes.

  • FF6 did not have that much level grinding. I'm talking about intense level grinding like the Final Fantasy 1,2,3 or Dragon Quest games.

Chrono Trigger is ranked as one of the Best RPGs, and it's level grinding is just right.

  • FF6? You played that game right?

Kefka was one of the best villains ever.

BUT i had to spend countless hours grinding to even get close to 'em.

  • that depends on your definition of grinding. As long as you can progress through the main story without having to go out of your way to find battles, I don't call it grinding.

I don't mind grinding at times, but only if the battle system is extremely fun (and this type of old-school turn based system just bores the hell out of me).

  • This game will be coming to the US. There's an article on it in the upcoming issue of Nintendo Power.

  • Indeed. I heard that too. Localized by Ignition Entertainment. The new title is Nostalgia. Can't wait!

  • IDK if its just me, but its a little to close to Final Fantasy. But thats just me.

  • You are 100% correct that it's like FF. The basic gameplay is almost exactly the same as FF3 DS. AND the game was developed by Matrix, the company who made the DS remakes of FF 3 and 4. This game uses the same engine from both of those games. So there's nothing weird about its uncanny resemblance to the FF games.

  • LOL.

When I saw the movement and how to maneuver around the screen, automatically "Final Fantasy III?" came to my head. xD

  • when does it come out?

  • its coming out in september

  • The Quality is a little blurry, but a nice video anyway ^^
