wow the memories are flooding back, best times of my life, wish l could trully go back and do it all again, sk8 all day and all night, 360 flips, backside tail slides, backside flips down stairs, and ruling the mini ramps
I went to the premier of this film in leicester.... It was totally RAD!! i saw matt hensley and ron allen there too, They were the days, never forgotten. this film just bought it all back!!
Ban this was an amazing vid, but this just touched what the average skater was doing at that time. Sessions on anything and anywhere, it's what it was all about.
Just about everything sucked in comparison to this. This changed skating. Drove it underground. Made the half-pipe passe'. EVERYBODY went street. Hensley, Barbier, Donger, Reeves, Erickson (R. I. P.), Ortega, and the rest of the H-Street posse changed it all. Period. Halfs came back, but the street became the place.
Does anyone remember a skate vid from Magnuesson where there was a bunch of guys skating in a rose garden and doing tricks through the empty ponds.? For the life of me i can't remember the name of that vid.
Thing I love about these 80s and early 90s videos is how you can clearly see how skateboarding was progressing. Just a year prior to this video was Shackle Me Not and look how much the style and tricks progressed in just a years time. These days nearly everything that's done in videos has been done a million times already but back then everything was about being new and progression. Guess there's only so much you can do on a skateboard.
My ALL time FAVORITE skate video. Matt Hensley had the most influence on the way I rode on the street. Thanks so much for posting this. Brings back so many memories.
This, World Ind. "Rubbish Heap", Blind "Video Days", Plan B "Questionable", damn the list goes on. All twenty or more years ago? Memories of going out and trying this stuff. LOL
@NosajElttil76 I'll add 'This Is Not The New H-Street Video to that list but yep all those are classic skate videos from the golden era. Those old Powell videos really suck in comparison.
Im 33 yrs old and skated for around 13 yrs and this was def my favorite video to get amped up to go downtown and tear it up!! Yeah Matt! Thanks for posting the most influential skate video of all time!
Ron A and Jim T would pull up to my junior high school (willard) circa 87' and put the jump ramp against the gym wall and session for a few hours. I went to Oakland tech. unfortunately for me academicly....but skate wise there was no better school to skate except maybe the deft. and blind school. long live the memorys of the originators
imagine doing a 360 flip over 7 stairs with that board? i couln't even do that with a new school board. i skated my ron allen no scratch board long into the mid 90's.
Skated all these spots with all these dudes back then. Ray & Jeff in San Rafael, big ups to Georgetown. Me an Noah used to go to Benicia all the time. He used to call those "drop tail" Indys. Cant forget the sessions with Ron at Oakland Tech too... Makes me want to dig up some old footage from '89 myself-- great post-- thanks!
There's footage in here towards the end that's what USED to be my local park but the city demoed it about three years ago and now all it is is grass. Rediculas.
@thelawguy666 It's been an Ollie North since the 80s. This and Shackle Me Not all most made me burn my Animal Chin tape... fuking amazing. I remember I got an H-Street jacket that had the big arrow cross on the back from my local... some jock thought it was a white power sign and attempted to kick my ass for it. He learned that gullwings to the head fuking hurt worse than fists. first time arrested too if I remember correctly... all thanks to this video :D

thank you so much for this upload... i remember when i first saw this. and how i wanted to put my skateboard away after seeing these crazy kids. that was just too much. still it only boosted my love for the art. thanks man
rad! i started skating in the summer of 1988. my buddy had the Zorlac Metallica deck and I had some Vision "Kele Rosencrans" board. We borrowed this video from some guy and never gave it back. I still have it. I even got copies of the demo songs used on the video from Sub Society and Wheezing Maniac (dollar on a platter) before there was any such thing called the internet. thanks for uploading! lot of good memories here! Cheers to all skaters, young and old!
God, that caught me in some vicious memory feedback! Thanks for posting this. It was a great, great video. It cost £30 when it got here to the UK - even now that's pricey for a vid - and a few of us banded together to buy it. Must hav seen it 200 times. Thanks!

Damn, this video brings me back!!! Thanks for posting. And you're right, we were calling them Ollie Norths before Skate or Die came out on Nintendo, when Oliver North and the Iran-Contra scandal was still kicking in the late 80's early ninties. These kids just don't know.
fukuandieyuppieskum quick question i found all the songs from the credits is there anywhere i could download it. i might try limewire and check but if you have any info message me.
It's funny, but to me watching clips from this vid is quite an emotional experience. It reminds me of the time when I really discovered skateboarding. I remember yelling at the TV as almost every trick in this opening montage was something which nobody had seen before. In terms of pure progression you simply don't get vids liks this nowdays.
Amen to that. I remember every bit of music, every trick every nuance of conversation even 20 years later. Me and my friends played this video THAT much. I remeber be SO psyched up after watching and then going out and skating like a man (boy) possessed. I get all misty eyed just watching.
i just had to point out the DUM ASSSSSS below that obviously didnt experience these wonderful times.............YEH it was called an OLLIE NORTH...but mainly only for giggles........or to give it an official name...........the name one foot was too misleading............could be a one foot anything............and especially if it was on accident....i think i accidently did a one foot mctwist varial kickflip shove-it heelflip off a 2-foot ollie ramp....JUST A SHORT WHILE AFTER VEIWING THIS VIDEO
well i didn't even know you could do that trick in tony hawk pro skater, i don't play it much. Actually, I used to call it one footer until I read it in Thrasher, as is with your back foot off, ollie south. so no need to assume there, I've been skating for 17 years strong now.
@4wheelbites Yeah well it is and always was the Ollie North. find the trick tip from the Thrasher from I would say probably summer of 88 or 89...it's there.
@4wheelbites Yeah dude, all the sudden people are shutting down the term "ollie north". I've been skating since '97 and that's what myself and, I thought, everyone else called it too...even Rowley.
Yeah, I still remember watching it for the first time. Every trick was like 'How?' 'What?'
Back in those days you never knew what to expect from a new skate video as the progression was taking place so quickly. Nowdays you're lucky if you're genuinely surprised one when watching a vid.
SOOOOOOO happy this video is on here....I own the original video....I just can't find it...but soooo happy I could watch it on here. Thank you! Best Skate video EVER!
Thanks fukUandyuppieskum for putin it out there. Im 32, I skate almost every day. and the last thing I do before I leave work to skate is watch some Hokus pokus to Git Stoked!! Wit a Gun and a Tia!!
I must have watched this about 500 times back in the day, Every word is etched on my brain, ha ha. I had a D Way board, H-St tee, hoodie and even bought some vision DV8's to complete the H-St look! LOL
Easily the best skate video on earth!!!
I've been waiting for someone to upload this for years! Must have been spelling it wrong, because it was posted in 2009. DAMN!!!

no shit. hell, i'll still destroy a curb with all kinds of slappy variations. Don't forget your late ollie norths either!
fukuandieyuppieskum 2 years ago
Ollie Norths?????....what ever dude is called a One Foot!.......you prob....got ollie north from your tony hawk game
4wheelbites 2 years ago
well i didn't even know you could do that trick in tony hawk pro skater, i don't play it much. Actually, I used to call it one footer until I read it in Thrasher, as is with your back foot off, ollie south. so no need to assume there, I've been skating for 17 years strong now.
fukuandieyuppieskum 2 years ago
@fukuandieyuppieskum
i grew up with it being called a Ollie North.
Wolfy2929 1 year ago

i remember dudes calling it an ollie north..

sckryde 1 year ago
@4wheelbites Yeah well it is and always was the Ollie North. find the trick tip from the Thrasher from I would say probably summer of 88 or 89...it's there.
jjuice69 1 year ago
@4wheelbites LOL! thats right- thats exactly where it came from- all the kids say ollie north and it drives me CRAZY!!!!
thelawguy666 1 year ago
@4wheelbites
It's an Ollie North..
madrazo815 1 year ago
@4wheelbites Yeah dude, all the sudden people are shutting down the term "ollie north". I've been skating since '97 and that's what myself and, I thought, everyone else called it too...even Rowley.
ButtPooTV 1 year ago
@4wheelbites ya dude i saw it in cbc skate boaring mag thrasher and transworld

Vision DV8's, Vision baggies, H Street hoddie... Fucking great days man.
soulmachineNo1 2 years ago 2
Yeah, I still remember watching it for the first time. Every trick was like 'How?' 'What?'
Back in those days you never knew what to expect from a new skate video as the progression was taking place so quickly. Nowdays you're lucky if you're genuinely surprised one when watching a vid.
SwitchRich 2 years ago
How can this only have 1,319 views? Criminal. It should become mandatory viewing for anybody who has been skateboarding for more than 3 days.

0:51 is pretty decent even by todays standards! 8 stair 360 flip on that oldschool board is nutty.
