well u better start thinking of changing your nationality if you have not already done so that is. I notice that it took nine months and a certain misguided Farouk for you to be able to respond to my comment. If you take pride in your country only if things go well and every citizen behaves decently then i dont think this country needs you. Do not forget that the people make the country and not the other way round. You only proved my comment right. I love my country and i proudly say so.
'.......and i am igbo, and i am Nigerian because it is the passport i carry with all of its unfortunate consequences...' Being a Nigerian outside the shores of our land certainly has unfortunate consequences, and i guess its the price we all have to pay for our reckless past. I am not a Nigerian because i carry a Nigerian passport, it is the other way round. Dear Adichie inspite of everything i am still proud to be a Nigerian, and i hope you are too
she is right. igbo people greet their elders after eating that is their culture. but yoruba people dont greet after eating. yoruba bow down to greet their elders and they run to their elders to collect their bags when ever their elder is coming, that is their culture. igbo dont do that, they dont bow down to greet their elders and they dont run to their elders to collect bags, onless they want to. culture is different.
I used to tell a white friend of mine who was always going on about wanting to see real Africa,to meet real Nigerians that everything he sees and encounters as soon the airplane's door opens is REAL AFRICA OR REAL NIGERIA for that matter. Some ignorant europeans still expect to see africans walking around naked with a big bone on their noses. HOW STUPID.
lol, I always wanted a pie, although I was born in the UK I was taken back to Nigeria at three so I watched cartoons where characters would eat pies, when I got one I was disappointed lol
she has such an interesting perspective on western culture. also- she has a great voice. wish she could do more podcasts.

I am enthralled by her speech but that comment at 9.43 was a blunder and really out of place.
