That book you hold is the original version, which contains around 800 pages. The Complete and Uncut edition contains over 1400 pages, which changes the setting to more modern, which is in the 1990s
Plus, The Stand is more of a Post-Apocalyptic Horror/FANTASY novel. Just to let you know.
How come you could find the rarest version of the book, but not the uncut (everywhere, practically) version? I'd give a hand up to have your copy, man hahah. I just decided yesterday to take a break from the uncut because I was so damn bored.
you couldn't take seriously this books, it sucks... the hand of god kill all the "villains"? what the fuck. Stephen king will be forgotten, like somerset maugham was. The dark tower is even worse.
This is my favorite book of all time. I've read it at least five times. You need to read Swan by Robert R. McCammon. It concerns the end of the world, good vs evil, and it's almost as great as The Stand is. Once I read Swan Song, I started reading every Robert R. McCammon book I could get my hands on. He's a great author.
After all the sex drugs and rock n roll, reading The Stand, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy are still some of my best memories from being a dumbshit teenager.
If you like this book, I would strongly recommend Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer winning “The Road"
@Blackboilingrobotoil: Wait...so does that mean you think The Stand is still good, or are you saying that you just used to think that when you were a dumbshit teenager? Because The Road, really, is nothing in comparison.
@Blackboilingrobotoil The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the inspirations of Stephen King to write The Stand. He said he wanted to make a fantasy like The Lord of the Rings, but with "an American setting".
does anyone know why the cover features a guy in perhaps primitive clothing with a sword fighting perhaps Randall Flagg with a Grim Reaper's blade? 'Cause no one ever straight out fought him in the book so to me it seems to have little significance with the book. I'm confused. Could someone help me? or do I have to text KGB and pay a dollar?
I have the first printing version of the unabriged edition it's cover is orange and a has a blonde haired guy [good] and a black crow thing [evil] fighting each other.
well i bought the hardback copy at a garage sale a long time ago, i was just getting into reading the stephen king books. its not the uncut though. it's 823 pages. oh but i think you might could find a cheap copy on ebay maybe. i looked on their not to long ago and there were a few copies. :D
i read the extended book, took me a while but afterwards i realised that its practically 3 books in one due to the part structure. Still definately in my top 3 books of all time .
No its paperback, i dont know why its so much longer but its definitly 1421, its pretty short, could be the reason, and its got a bunch of illustrations but not 300 pages.
Send me a link to the book from a webpage that looks exactly like yours does. The copy i have is the complete and uncut but i wonder why yours is longer.
nice review, I'd only recently finished reading it and thought it was brilliant and the ending was fantastic, not what i expected. i read the uncut version of it instead and thought it was very well written. For a long book, it keeps you interested throughout the whole thing.

@ScoobySnack29 The figures on the cover only REPRESENT good vs. evil.
Blackboilingrobotoil 1 year ago
@ScoobySnack29 i think it depicts the bringer of plague from the bible fighting the last survivors of the human race, but that's just how i see it.

Read something scary. I don't believe young people reads large number of pages just to get to the main idea.

This book review is not exciting. Try reading a science fiction book that many young people are reading. Blue Crystal in Six Days War.
