Definitely need the tripod to get those cool shots.. Almost Monet like.. I like it.
I thought you were going to pull in single blades of grass, for a moment.
What does it look like hooked up to a large screen tv pulling in those hills miles away? I'd have it out there on that pasture waking up in the morning on the large screen. Thanks for sharing.
the fs100 is $399.00 new at all the stores // i got mine new from amazon for $250.00 - it arrived still sealed with a 1 year canon warranty.. i even called canon to make sure i had a 1 year warranty!! its perfect
(god i cant stand the music of this video while i type this)
then i bought a 8gb sd carg "class 2" on ebay for $15.00 - free shipping !!
I just upgraded from a Panasonic SDR-S7 to the FS100, mainly because I need to zoom like that. Still waiting for battery to charge, Thanks for the preview!
the fs200 is also 37 optical but only 41 advanced zoom as compared to the fs100 which is 47 and also has less pixel! the only thing going for the new model is it has a headphone jack and has a lower min lux (better in low light). No there is no HD version, prepared to pay a arm and a leg if you want a big zoom in a HD camcorder, big sensor + big zoom = big bucks. Most HD camcorders have 10x optical.
Gronk, nice zooming! I'd say that footage you got at that distance is near incredible. I'm assuming you were using a tripod. I like your music choice and editing, cheers.
That picture looks incredible. I just bought this camera. You mention that you didn't convert it to WMV, but did you have to convert it to the MPEG2? If so, what did you use?
Great Quality! I cant believe it can zoom over 1 mile and still get a clear picture! Like when you showed that fence. You could spy on people! LOL! Great camera, great movie, I might get it!
I was gonna get a samsung vp-mx10, but i was put off by the fact it says it can record in widescreen but only playsback in 4:3 ratio, i think i will get this one now, looks good.
Thanks for the comment Tim, Ive only had the camcorder for a couple of weeks and am loving it. The enclosed editting software that came with it I think is rubbish. ie Crashing all the time. I use my old software "Cyberlink Director and Producer" this will be replaced sometime this year when I get a more up to date laptop.
I actually never used the enclosed software, not even opened it because I know ts gonna be crappy. I also use Cyberlink Director, the latest version, apparantly the best software.
Hi Joshua, Yeah sure is. I took the JVC into different camera shops for a quote on the repair...£350.00 was the cheapest. So take great care of yours my friend. I will be taking the Canon for a test film in the next two or three weeks. Oh and news of The Plym Valley Railway is that we now have 1 mile of track open for passenger service and 'Albert' the 0-4-0 steam engine is now in service too.
Hi gronk, Great quality vid! When you say "This video took over 3 hours to upload." Is that because of your internet connection? File size or most important top me the camera itself? Did you rename the .mod file?
Hi, I used Cyberdirector and outputed the footage as DVD Mpeg2 the file was the best part of 400Mb, My internet connection changes through the day reguarding speed this is due to the phoneline and distance away from exchange and to think I pay £30.00 a month for an 5Gb connection that rarely gets past 120Kb a sec. I'm being ripped off but I do have unlimited use as i play World of warcraft alot. So Connection is to blame.
I second the need for a tripod. Is that chromatic abberation when it's fully zoomed?

How did you get rid of the black lines on the outside of the video? I keep trying to get rid of them on mine, but to no avail.
Also, how did you get the option for watch in high quality? mine aren't giving me that, unfortunately.

The quality of video is near Broadcast on standard TV screens (Not HD).
Youtube converts any video uploaded to its own quality for web play back, so you loose some of the original sound and video sample rate.

I really like the song or music being played.
