  • just love it xxx

  • the good old days

  • this brings back memories when i was about 10 and we used to go to a place called JD Moters in shrewsbury, the good old days

  • Another of the great old Mod sounds of the early wheel club and quite a few others massive dancer and a brill sound.I remember a deejay playing this at the old Mr Smiths in Manchester and I went berseque for it and has always been a huge favourite of mine on the Northern Soul scene. sadly these days its not rare enough for the punters who have been brain washed by a few jocks (I use that losely) that are filling their heads with ultra rare assortments. pity Pat Allen B&P soul club Burnley .

  • This version is better than the Bill Deal's, isn't it? Thanks for share.

  • you can get this at amazon on download

  • Had a couple of pints with him yesterday at my local pub in Gravesend, he is alive and well. (July 2011)

  • @prehistory42 Next time you see Guy send him all soul and 60s fans their regards. Tell him we still love him and all his Great music. Tell him i can still remember him playing live tracks on the early radio one shows. Good old days. Emperor Rosko gave Guy a mention recently and played this. Always filled the floor at my mobile disco nights all over the place. All the very best to him. Steve.

  • @Bolly558 Thanks Steve, there's a chance I may see him soon and I will pass on your best wishes.

  • @Bolly558 Thanks Steve, there's a chance I may see him soon and I will pass on your best wishes.

  • @Bolly558 Steve : I was with Guy last night and gave him a print of your comments, I think he was quite chuffed and he sends his regards.

  • @prehistory42 Hi Mate. Thanks for passing my regards on to Guy. We will always love him and his Great music up here in the North. Bet he can still belt a tune out even now. Anyway all yhe best to the both of you for now. Steve. ps. by the way i still have most of his singles in my collection....

  • @Bolly558 You're welcome .......... in the 70s Guy sang with a group called 'Deep Feeling' and he told me on Sunday that he recently went to see one of the old band members playing a gig and was invited on stage to join in for a few songs which he really enjoyed.

  • @prehistory42 Yeah i remember Deep Feeling. I have at least a couple of their singles. Its only in the last few years that i found out Guy was with them. I can remember them doing Radio 1 sessions in the early days, the same as Guy did. Which went out on playback on the daily shows. Does Guy remember much from the old days. Does he know what a following this classic as got on the Northern Soul club scene up here in Stoke-on-trent etc. Wonder if he can still reach those notes now. Steve

  • I saw The Guy Darrell band perform this at The Green Man, Leytonstone and live it blew me away.

  • Great sound. I guess I need to find another record. :-(

  • So this one is the original recording. Bill Deal & The Rondells re-recording and make big splash hit.

  • I'm looking for this song for a long long time, I listened this song since I'm in high school without notice who sung. Thank you Youtube for this song.

    R.Siriwong / Thailand

  • I have known Guy Darrell since the 60s, I love this record yet have never seen it on a CD, very strange.

  • Well, I dont know about amazing!!...........& I take it your joking anyway. But he does, & thats the end of it.. .............Its not really Northern soul though is it??.. Its a bit cheesy for that.Fortune teller, Happy Radio, Ghost in my house, Tainted Love & the classic Do I love you Frank Wison, thats Northern Soul...........

    ezcoach

  • Ray Whitley's was the best version. No Contest.

Anyone got it? I had it on a fab LP in 1984. Sadly long gone.

  • This version is OK but lacks any background sound. Listen to the version by Bill Deal & Rhondels. What makes this version is the wonderful background Group Harmony. The best version in my opinion.

  • a LongPlay?

hell, it's been a long since I last seen one, good to se there's still a place in the world for these classics

  • this is best version of this song

  • omg , this brings back memories , my brother used 2 play this wen i woz little , great tune x

  • Guy Darell was lead vocalist in the early 1970s with a band called "Deep Feeling" they backed him when "Hurt" was re-released and made the charts in the UK, they even appeared on Top of the Pops, does anyone know where Darrell is now?

    Stipplebeach1

  • @stipplebeach1 Guy Darrell (John Swale) was born in Gravesend Kent, I have known him since the 60s. He was an apprentice on the local paper but couldn't wait to progress with his music. He is now living back in Gravesend, I spoke to him about a year ago. About 2 years ago I had a drink with him at the local golf club and he had some great anecdotes which included Paul Simon and Joe Meek.

  • Jeez...had forgotten all about this....but within about 3 secs was singing along...thnx

    KTF

  • Excelente, jamás había escuchado esa versión... pero me parece espectacular.- Extraordinario el sonido...un saludo desde la Argentina

  • I'm in the U.S., I used to hear this done by Bill Deal and the Rhondells when I was in school, that was around 1969.
