Joseph Joachim and Brahms liked this piece, which is why Brahms quotes it in his "Double" Concerto in a minor which he wrote for Joachim and a cellest.
I can't believe my teacher thinks I can do this. I have been playing for 2 years-ish (long story, but I played in the middle school orchestra, quit, and picked it up again last year - 10 years later), and am just finishing up learning the first mov't for Bach's concerto in A minor. I have so many holes in my musical education that I am learning all of the positions and technique at the same time as the piece, which means I am technically a slow learner. It's a compliment, but she's crazy.
@ryee86 Hey, have you looked at the music yet? If you can play the A minor well you could probably play this. My teacher is recommending this for me as well and I've been playing for over 20 yrs but have a very small repertoire list.
@ryee86 wow!! me too!! i have been playing for 1 and half years and my teacher is having me play this!!!! but know I'm on the 3rd movement!!!!! love it!! XD
@ryee86 I think some pieces of music you can't play unless you are like a maestro or some close to one. Cause my damn brain can't even think that fast to process all them notes at once.

Love it!!! Amazing!!! I have met Itzhack Perlman before and he played fir me. It was fantastic. I am playing this piece as a 10 year olded girl and I don't think I can perform this piece as beautiful as he did. Oh, and by the way, if someone has this cadenza.m, please send it to me at my email: smartsallyhan@gmail.com.Thank you. Well done Itzhack Perlman! BRAVO!!!
Perlman did not write the last part of the cadenza, it is a cadenza by the violinist Alard. The first violinist to combine these cadenzas by David and Alard was Ovide Musin.
I just started playing this concert a few weeks ago, and I'm having a lot of fun with it! I just wanted to hear it from the original genius. :)
2:03 and the continuation is my favorite part of the piece. So far I'm at a page and a half of the concert! Pure genius this piece turned out to be! Italian pieces are my personal favorite.
Who wrote the cadenza?. I've just played it and in my sheet music it isn't. I really like Viotti!! And much more when which is is playing it is the fantastic and astonoshing Itzhak Perlman!!!
According to Fritz Kreisler, who knew Brahms, this was Brahms's favorite violin concerto. You can hear Kreisler say this in an interview on a radio show (that's posted on You Tube) commemorating Kreisler's birthday on Feb. 2, 1955. Feb. 2, is also Heifetz' birthday, by the way.
@moranguitaspecial Me too! This is my last year with the youth orchestra, so I'm glad I'm going out with a bang. Hopefully I can learn Itzhak's cadenza by April.
In a few weeks, I'll be starting this piece. Before that, I have to do some exercises to help my technique... because the concerto I play now is by Accolay. According to Sassmanshaus, the Viotti concertos are three levels above Accolay... sounds tough...
@sLIMshadyKP Ummm...the cadenza was by Ferdinand David. Revised by Henry Schradieck. It shouldn't be hard to find since my teacher is teaching it to me. It's pretty hard when you get to the last part with the slurs but if you get to that point you should be good.
@xoxChineseRulerx Thanks, but any idea where I can find a copy of it? Although, it's a bit late because I had already performed the piece using what I heard from this arrangement since I did not have the sheet music for Ferdinand's cadenza. Regardless, it would be an enlightening experience to play it as it is heard here.
Is not the cadenza of Joachim, whose is it then..?

いわゆる三大バイオリンコンチェルトではありませんが、私的にはそれらに比肩するほどのいい曲ではないかと思います。この曲を聴いた後は、何とも言いない清々しさに浸ることができます。

@violinman606 I thought the point of a cadenza was that the performer wrote/improvised it themself
